Chapter Twenty-Eight: Traveling with Trolls at Hogwarts
A thousand bats fluttered across the walls and ceiling, and a thousand more, like low clouds, swirled above the table, causing the candle flames in the pumpkin's belly to flicker. The delicacies suddenly appeared on the golden plate, just like at the banquet at the beginning of the school year.
Not long after the banquet began, Harry was eating chocolate cake when Professor Quirrell suddenly burst into the Great Hall, his large scarf slanted on his head, his face full of horror: "Troll!"
Everyone stared at him, only to see him stagger to the middle of the Great Hall, shouting, "There's a troll in Hogwarts, it's in the basement." With that, he fell to the floor and fainted.
A sound of thunder sounded in the sky at the right time to wake up the young wizard who was still in a daze, and the auditorium suddenly became a mess. Professor Dumbledore had to cause purple fireworks to explode several times on his wand's head, and he said calmly and loudly, "Silence!"
The young wizards looked over, and Dumbledore said, "Please don't panic. ”
"Prefects," he said in a deep voice, "immediately lead the students of the various houses to their dormitories! ”
Percy was naturally familiar with it, "First-year freshmen, all follow me closely, as long as you can honestly listen to my arrangement, you don't have to be afraid of any trolls at all." I'm sorry, but I'm the prefect!"
"How can a troll get in?" Harry asked as they made their way up the stairs.
"Don't ask me, trolls must be surprisingly silly," Ron said, "maybe Peeves put it in to add a little fun to Halloween Eve." ”
On the way, they met some crowds of people hurrying in different directions. As they struggled to squeeze past a crowd of bewildered Hufflepuff House students, Harry jerked Ron's arm.
"I just remembered that Dudley and Hermione didn't know anything about trolls. ”
Ron bit his lip.
"Oh, well," he said decisively, "but it's best not to let Percy see us. ”
They buried themselves in the Hufflepuff crowd and walked in the other direction. They slipped quietly through an empty side porch and hurried to the women's restroom on the fourth floor. As soon as they turned the corner, they heard hurried footsteps behind them.
"Someone!" Harry said in a low voice, pulling Ron behind a large stone sculpture of a griffin. They looked behind the stonework, and it was Snape. He walked through the hallway and disappeared from their sight.
"Why is he here?" asked Harry in a low voice, "Professor Dumbledore said that all the teachers went to the basement with him, and he should be in the basement now." ”
"How do I know!"
Inside the secret passage behind the statue of the one-eyed hunchbacked witch on the fourth floor.
Hermione walked ahead with her wand in hand, and she complained, "We missed the Halloween party." ”
"We could sneak into the kitchen. ”
"It's unbelievable!"
Dudley nudged Hermione by the shoulder, "Let's go." ”
"Left and right separation. The entrance to the passage came out, and the light from outside came in, and Dudley could just see the contempt on Hermione's face, clearly trying to say that he was a road idiot.
Dudley sneered and struggled to squeeze his way through the hole, and he found Hermione walking towards the Charms classroom, "What are you doing, this way through the Great Hall." ”
"My textbooks are still in the classroom. ”
Dudley and Hermione had barely turned the hallway when Harry and Ron appeared behind them, walking cautiously.
"Did you hear anything?" asked Harry.
Ron made a gesture of listening intently, and after a moment, he looked at Harry and shook his head.
"Listen carefully. Harry said, and then they heard a low grunt and the sound of huge soles of feet dragging on the ground. Harry noticed that at the end of one of the passageways on the left, a behemoth was moving towards them. They quickly retreated into the darkness and watched as it slowly walked into a patch of moonlight.
As Dudley accompanied Hermione to get her textbooks and prepares to leave, a behemoth appeared before their eyes, a terrifying sight in the dark environment, twelve feet tall, with dull skin and gray granite, and a large, stupid body like a huge pile of mud with a small head like a cocoa bean on top of it. Its short legs are as thick as tree stumps, and underneath are flat, thick, calloused feet. The smell emanating from it was disgusting. It holds a thick wooden stick in its hand, which is dragged on the ground due to the length of its arms.
It's a troll, Dudley is a little weird, shouldn't it have gone to the women's bathroom? How did it come here, you must know that the women's bathroom and the Charms classroom are still some distance away even though they are on the fourth floor.
This deviated too much from the original story, and Dudley regretted it a little, he thought that he would not encounter a troll if he went to the Charms classroom, otherwise he would never let Hermione come to get the textbook now.
When the troll saw them, it came excitedly with a thick stick, and suddenly raised it and swung it down. Dudley pulled Hermione back and hurriedly retreated, but the desks that were swept by the sticks were not so lucky, shattering into planks and flying around, but luckily they dodged quickly, otherwise the stick might have knocked their heads flying.
"Are you alright?" asked Dudley, looking behind Hermione.
Hermione shook her head, karma reincarnates, Dudley originally protected her, but now she protects Dudley. She drew her wand and walked in front of Dali with a resolute face, "You don't have magic now, I'll hold it back, you take the opportunity to run out and find the teacher." ”
Damn, Dudley secretly clenched his fists, and now he had nothing to do.
"The thugs fell to the ground. Hermione's spell hit the troll's little head,
The troll shook its little cocoa bean-like head, which had no effect on it, but its little head was now attracted to Hermione.
Hermione slowly shifted her footsteps to stagger the distance between her and Dudley so that Dudley had a chance to get out.
"There is no shadow. ”
Hermione did it, and for the first time since she learned the spell, Hermione's magic was too small, and the trolls also had great resistance, and the spell only left a small blood mark on the troll's face.
The troll's little head probably didn't know what anger was, it only knew that it wanted to smash the little thing in front of it very much, because its face hurt, it roared and took the stick to the top of its head and swung it down vigorously, Hermione reacted quickly and threw herself directly to the side.
Hermione tried to stand up, but she had broken her foot with too much force, and she fell to the ground again in pain, and the troll didn't miss the opportunity, and it took a step to raise the stick again.
Hermione closed her eyes calmly, remembering the night of the duel, Ron had told her to figure out which was more terrible, death or demerit. She knew that death was indeed more terrible than being deducted, and she was now more willing to be deducted, but she didn't regret it at all, at least there was one person who could get out alive.
"Bang. ”
Hermione didn't feel any pain, she heard Dudley's voice roaring, "Are you stupid? Why do you close your eyes and not hide!" She slowly opened her eyes to see Dudley standing in front of her, and in front of Dudley there was a door floating diagonally in the air, which was the door of inquiry that caused Dudley to lose his magical powers.
Dudley was right, and the Askheart Gate successfully fended off the troll attack. The troll's stupid head was only thinking about breaking the door before it could attack the two little ones, and it attacked it again and again with its stick, and the door of conscience was unscathed, and Dudley was relieved.
Dudley pulled Hermione up and asked, "Aren't you afraid?"
"I'm scared," Hermione looked at Dudley with a smile grinning at her, her unsteady little face dirty.
"Then you still ......"
Hermione interrupted Dudley, saying, "You weren't scared of the three-headed dog in the first place, I made the same choice as you." ”
Dudley didn't speak, just smiled self-deprecatingly.
"The door of conscience is sinking. Hermione exclaimed.
Dudley's heart sank, the door of inquiry was not controlled by him with magic at all, the troll couldn't break the door, but if the door kept sinking, it would eventually press them, and it was unrealistic to go around, the troll was stupid but not blind, its target has always been Dudley and Hermione, and it can't wait for the professors to come over, without magic Dudley has no way.
Now there is only a door to ask the heart, if Dudley recovers his magic power, there is still room for manipulation, if he fails this time, he may have no magic power forever or die directly.
Dudley stared at Hermione for a moment, and he hugged Hermione.
Hermione could have escaped on her own, but instead she chose to attract the trolls to let Dudley run.
Dudley patted Hermione on the back and said, "Thank you, don't close your eyes so easily next time, if you give up, there will be nothing and if you keep going, there will be hope." ”
Dudley turned and grabbed the doorknob of the Conscience resolutely, he didn't know what would happen next, only that if they didn't, they wouldn't have the slightest chance. He entered the door, and it was actually his consciousness that entered the door like last time, while his body was still outside the door.
This time the space was no longer dark, it was very bright.
A three-headed hellhound was standing not far in front of Dudley, staring at him viciously, he took a few steps back slightly and tried to turn around and run, but he stopped thinking about turning around, he couldn't run.
There was a mocking look in the head of the three-headed dog, and there was disdain on the corner of the mouth.
The three-headed dog approached Dudley unhurriedly.
Dudley shuddered, and with every step the three-headed dog took forward, he took a step back. The atmosphere was very depressing, and he felt that he was going crazy by these three-headed dogs, and if he didn't explode in silence, he would perish in silence. He yelled, "I'm a Gryffindor, even if I'm a Muggle without magic now, you!"
"Life and death are downbeat, if you don't accept it, do it!" Dudley rushed forward.
The three-headed dog ran, and it jumped at the right time.
Dudley clenched his fist and struck it, and the fist had already passed through the three-headed dog's body, but he didn't feel anything tangible in the fist.
At this moment, the three-headed dog turned into a little light and disappeared.
