For the imperial court, there are more monks, and there are fewer people who farm and trade, pay grain and pay taxes! For the world, what if everyone goes to be a monk and passes on the lineage? So when it comes to the season when there are many monks, how can you make the court not hate you, and how can you make Confucian scholars like you? And a rich monk must be good at collecting money, and a person who is good at collecting money must be stingy! When a miser gets money, he refuses to spit it out until he dies! The goods of the world are like the blood of a person's body, flowing to be healthy, and stagnation to death of illness. If the goods die in your monk's temple and refuse to flow out, then the people's livelihood will be sick because of it, and if you are greedy, the people's livelihood will be sick, and if you are greedy, the people's livelihood will be seriously ill, and if the people's livelihood is seriously ill, the world will be in danger and the society will be shaken. If this disadvantage and the first disadvantage occur together, the disaster will be even greater! As you just said, if the family and country are in danger, can Buddhism survive alone? The small Buddha is hundreds of kilograms, the big Buddha is 100,000 kilograms, and a large temple has ten Buddhas, which will cost 100,000 kilograms of copper. Old monk, do you know how much money can be made of 100,000 catties of copper? How much gold and copper can I have in Liaodong for you to squander? So as long as I'm in charge, I can't tolerate such things! In fact, when visiting the Buddha, it should be based on enlightenment, and when crossing the world, it should be to help the people as virtue, what is the role of cultivating so many big Buddha statues? If these Buddha statues not only mislead the people's livelihood and state affairs, but also harm the people, then the more Buddha statues are cultivated and bigger, the deeper and heavier the sins made by your monks! As for the money raised, if you have enough to support yourself, you should use it to do good deeds and help the world, not to satisfy the selfish desires of the monks. In my opinion, Buddhism takes the following five things as the first: one is the righteous burial, which usually reinforces the widows, widows, loneliness, old age, sickness, and incompetent self-burial, and the plague and famine collect the ownerless wild corpses, cremate them into the tower, and chant the scriptures to be reborn; The first is a volunteer doctor, recruiting famous doctors, or self-study medical skills and become medical monks, giving medicine to the poor; the third is free food, often opening porridge factories to treat the poor; The fourth is righteous learning, which collects three scriptures for the Han scholars to study, and sets up monks to teach children from poor families to read and write; Fifth, Yicang, when the harvest is ripe, rice and wheat are purchased to help farmers and the poor in disaster years. ”
