044 Bed innovation
I came to the hospital again with the nutritious rice soup that had just been steamed. Knowing that after my brother-in-law went back, my sister would definitely mention the new duty plan to my brother-in-law, and with what I knew about my brother-in-law, he would definitely agree to such a plan, so when my brother-in-law left the ward, I did not mention anything about the new plan to him.
This was the first time I had been alone with my father at night, and I didn't think there was any problem, but when I actually did it, I was still a little nervous. Because, I'm afraid that I will be negligent. Although there is no need for infusion at night, there will certainly be no adverse reactions to the so-called drugs, but it is not certain that there will be no accidents. I know that from the time of surgery to the time I was discharged from the hospital, I couldn't say that my father had really passed the dangerous period.
The reason why I was nervous was because I couldn't guarantee that I would be able to stay energized all night. I'm afraid that if I can't control myself and take a nap, and my father happens to have an abnormal reaction when I nap, then my father is not in danger!
The whole ward is no longer in need of infusions at night, so the atmosphere is much more relaxed and lively than before. Unlike before, the TV in the ward has now become the object of the stars. The mood is no longer as tense as before, and the patient's family naturally feels bored. With only the TV as an entertainment tool in the entire ward, it has inevitably become a popular bun.
Originally, the grandmother and her family (usually her son) in the north bed were the most laid-back. The grandmother is over seventy, her eyes are dizzy, and she has no culture, so she sleeps in addition to chatting. However, her son, who is middle-aged, actually wanted to watch TV when the young man and my father just came out of the intensive care unit, but on the one hand, the young man's father was humming and chirping all day long, and on the other hand, the spirit of the critically ill patient was not good, and he could sleep in the dark during the day, and he could fall asleep almost anytime and anywhere, so he was not in the mood until now and was not very embarrassed to turn on the TV.
As the young man and my father's physical condition gradually improved and stabilized, the middle-aged man, who no longer had any other pastimes except reading the newspaper, finally couldn't hold back and turned on the TV that he had not seen for a long time. The people in the ward, even the lad and my father, were bored, so naturally no one objected. In addition, the interests of middle-aged people are relatively close to those of the young man and my father, and the news and opera have attracted their attention to a large extent, which has somewhat relieved their physical pain.
Now, before 10 p.m., the ward is still lively. There are those who watch TV, there are those who chat, and of course, there are those who chat while watching. With such a noisy environment, I naturally don't have to worry about taking a nap. In addition to checking the time from time to time (because I have to pinch some food for my father) and wiping his saliva from time to time, I also happily join the army of watching TV and chatting. The extremely harmonious environment of the ward not only made me feel good, but also made people feel warm when I recall it to this day.
What was more painful was that after ten o'clock in the evening, first the grandmother in the north bed fell asleep, and then her son, who was middle-aged, went outside to rest in an extra bed. Then the young man's father and I fell asleep. The young man's house is usually two people on duty in the ward. There is one more person in their rotation than in my family. There was the lad's mother, the lad's uncle, the lad's uncle, and the lad himself. No matter who is on duty, as long as they see the patient asleep, then they will only sit on the edge of the bed for a while, and after making sure that the patient is really asleep, the guardian will put a stack of tissue paper on the patient's quilt (so that when the patient coughs at night, he can take the paper and wipe his saliva), and then go to sleep.
Some people may find it strange, didn't you say before that you only get one extra bed for a hospital bed? It was also emphasized that the extra bed was narrow and could only sleep one person. Now, the two caretakers of the young man's family are asleep. So how exactly do they allocate the beds? The answer to this question actually has something to do with my brother-in-law.
As I remember saying before, when I first entered the ward, I quickly formed a very harmonious "diplomatic" relationship with the people on both sides of the hospital bed. So, on the first night after my father came out of the intensive care unit, the grandmother on the north side of the bed and her son, a middle-aged man, were very enthusiastic to give us the extra bed in their house. Later, when my brother-in-law came to be on duty, because he was not familiar with the bed in the north and did not know much about the situation, he took an extra bed with the young man. For this reason, the thrifty mother used to complain.
Later, on the one hand, because the extra bed in my grandmother's house was noisy, it creaked as soon as I turned over a little, and on the other hand, my sister and brother-in-law agreed that always sleeping in someone else's extra bed always owed others favors, and it was not a long-term solution. Of course, I also feel sorry to sleep in my grandmother's extra bed all the time. However, my sister, brother-in-law and I had to consider my mother's simple view of frugality. In my mother's words, I can save ten yuan a day, so why not save it? In the end, we came up with a compromise solution, which was a good way to save 10 yuan and no longer need to sleep in someone else's extra bed.
Someone is bound to scoff at it. Fool people, how can there be such a way? There is no saying in China that people come up with solutions. The wisdom of man is truly limitless. That's what my brother-in-law came up with. After his mother's complaint, the brother-in-law kept thinking. By chance, my brother-in-law saw my kindergarten children playing with foam boards on the floor that could be spliced. At that time, my brother-in-law had a flash of inspiration. Haha, there's the best of both worlds! That is, the spliced foam board that children play with is used as a makeshift bed. When it is to be used, it is spliced into a floor of the size that can accommodate one person to sleep in an empty space, and such a temporary floor is made; When not in use, separate and fold the foam board and place it in the cabinet. Such a bed is not only insulated, soft, but also flexible, can be used anytime and anywhere and does not occupy any space after being put away, and the most valuable thing is "cheap and good". Since my brother-in-law first demonstrated such a temporary bed in the ward, it has set off a storm of bed innovation in the entire inpatient department on the 21st floor. As long as you have seen it, there is nothing that you think is bad. The next day, the young man immediately brought his own foam board that could be spliced for the children to play with. From then on, in the second half of the night, the two of their caretakers were able to rest together.
