028 Midday Danger

As the young man said, when my father was in the intensive care unit, it was true that I had nothing to do, but I had to wait in the ward in case something special happened. Now, I finally had time to take a closer look, and the young man's father was in his fifties, with a long face, and he felt quite thin. He didn't seem to be doing very well, and he was almost humming and chirping, as if it was as painful as he could. Moreover, he coughed constantly. In severe cases, it will almost be breathless.

Perhaps because of the severe cough, the young man's father felt uncomfortable in any position, so he kept asking to change his position. He had only been operated on for two days, and his body was full of tubes, so the difficulty of turning it over can be imagined. I admire the young man very much, whenever his father asks for a move, the young man will always meet it to the letter. It's just that each time, the young man always spends a lot of time sorting out the various pipes on his father's body.

Once or twice, maybe it doesn't feel like much, but if you have to move every ten or twenty minutes, then think about how much energy the young man will need. Even so, the lad always tires of it. Of course, every time the young man's father sat up or lay down, I sweated hard for him, because I was very worried about what would happen to one of the many tubes in his body. I guess the young man is also worried about this, or he wouldn't have been so careful every time to tidy up the pipes and then help his father move the position.

The young man's father has been receiving infusions, and apart from sitting up and lying down, he has only done one nebulization, which is an exception, and there is nothing else worth noting.

At first, I wanted to see if I needed help, and on the other hand, I wanted to learn some experience from it. But they have three family members here, so where do they need my help? I need to learn from it, but after nearly two hours of careful observation, I already feel that I have not gained much. So, bored, I took out my phone again and continued to read the e-book.

At noon, I suddenly heard a commotion outside, and I couldn't help the curiosity in my heart, so I left the ward and followed the sound.

At the door of a ward not far from my father's ward, there were already many people around. There were a lot of people, and when I got there, it took me a long time to finally figure out the truth of the matter from the noise. It turned out that a patient in this ward suddenly had an accident during the infusion process, shortness of breath, slanted eyes, and was in a very critical condition.

According to a middle-aged man who may be a family member of the patient, "Thankfully, I kept watching, or maybe in the blink of an eye, the person would have disappeared." I could see the middle-aged man's face mixed with happiness and worry.

There are a lot of people talking around, and even if I don't ask questions, I can get a lot of useful information from these people's conversations. Here's how the whole thing happened. This is a patient who has just been out of the intensive care unit for only a day, and has been receiving almost constant infusions. Just now, during the infusion process, the patient suddenly had a serious adverse reaction, but fortunately, the patient's family has been accompanied by the side dutifully, and as soon as they found that something was wrong, they immediately exclaimed. His exclamation immediately attracted the attention of many people. Either the patient or the patient's family is here, so everyone seems to be very concerned about such emergencies. The patients burst out with unusually strong enthusiasm at the first time, and immediately some people went to the nurse's station to call for rescue, and at the same time, some people asked who the attending physician was, and took the initiative to call...... With the enthusiastic help of everyone, this dangerous patient was able to be rescued at the first time. After an emergency visit by a doctor on duty, the patient finally breathed, and then the doctors and nurses immediately rushed the patient to the intensive care unit. Not long after, the attending physician also came.

In fact, the situation was still quite dangerous at that time, because it was lunch time, and all the doctors and nurses had already gone home from work. If it weren't for everyone's help, just the middle-aged man who was panicked and at a loss for what to do alone, then it was very likely that the old man would not be able to be saved.

The middle-aged man was anxiously waiting, and all the enthusiastic patients were also there, and they kept talking about something. Everyone is looking forward to good news. About twenty minutes later, a gray-haired old man was pushed over in an operating cart. With the selfless help of everyone, the old man lay down on his hospital bed again.

"Fortunately, the rescue was timely, and now the old man is out of danger. If anything unusual happens, be sure to let us know as soon as possible! The attending physician at the head said to the patient's family with some joy but some solemnity.

"Thank you, Director. Don't worry, I just don't sleep, and I will definitely watch it firmly! The middle-aged man replied emotionally.

Hearing this, the attending physician nodded to him and walked away a little tired.

Next, the middle-aged man expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the enthusiastic people around him. Everyone saw that the old man was safe and sound, and their hanging hearts were relaxed. While saying "you're welcome", they all kindly reminded middle-aged men that it was better to take good care of the elderly. The idea is simple: instead of wasting time saying thank you, we should sit down and take care of the elderly.

The gathered crowd finally dispersed, and this sudden accident at noon left a deep impression on me. When I returned to the ward, I was still touched by the enthusiasm of the people. At the same time, I also realized that after I came out of the intensive care unit, it didn't mean that I was safe. In fact, danger is everywhere. For esophageal cancer patients who have undergone such major surgery, danger may appear anytime and anywhere for a long time. Therefore, as a family member who cares for a patient, there must be no room for carelessness throughout the hospitalization. For example, this time, if the middle-aged man had only been a little careless, then the old man just now might have returned to bliss by now.

Actually, I've always been a person who doesn't like to join in the fun, because I think "joining in the fun" is purely a waste of time. This time, if it weren't really boring, I probably wouldn't have gone out. But it was also this rare time that gave me an extremely valuable experience. Perhaps, my attitude towards "joining in the fun" will remain the same in the future, but at the very least, this "joining in the fun" experience will make me feel worthy of the trip and remember it for the rest of my life.
