Chapter 34 Boot up

On the morning of October 5, the truck of the "Two of Us" crew pulled the camera equipment to the filming site, and then all the members of the crew gathered at the filming site.

Cheng Peng stood on the chair, holding the electric horn in his hand, and said loudly: "Everyone, our movie is about to start, I'll say a few more words." Director Xie Jin once said that if you want to make a good movie, you must do every detail well, which is like holding a handful of water in your hand, if you are not careful, you will miss a little here and there, and it will definitely not be a good work in the end. So I want you to put aside all distractions and do your best to do your job well. Alright, ready to go! ”

Then he beckoned to Tong Liyu and said, "Yaya, come here, get ready to play!" ”

The first step in filming is not the set, not the lighting, but the play. What is a play? Before filming each scene, the actor must first familiarize himself with the actions and lines of the scene, which is called a scene.

Playing scenes is a very important job before the start of filming, especially for some scenes with strong conflicts, such as quarrels, fights, etc., it is necessary to design the position of each actor in this scene, connect the lines, and design the actions of each actor.

"The Two of Us" is divided into four chapters, in order of winter, spring, summer, and autumn, when the pony moves into the courtyard and slowly understands with the old lady in the quarrel; In the spring, the relationship between the two began to be harmonious; Summer becomes like a loved one; Autumn two separated.

But now at the beginning of October, the leaves on the trees are not yellow, they are still green, and it is obviously not possible to shoot winter scenes, but it is more appropriate to shoot spring and summer scenes, so spring scenes are put at the forefront.

In this scene, the camera is facing the door of the courtyard, and the pony played by Tong Liyu runs in the direction of the camera from outside the courtyard, and when the pony runs close to the camera and is about to pass by the camera, the camera begins to rotate with the pony, and then the pony runs into the old lady's house, and the shot ends.

This shot is relatively simple, but it also needs to be designed, where Tong Liyu starts running, what route she runs, and what her movements are during the running process must be designed in advance. Because the photographer must place the camera according to the route of Tong Liyu's position, so as to catch the best angle; At the same time, the boom maker should also determine how to use the microphone according to her running route, so as to keep up with her, otherwise the microphone will be near and far, which will affect the radio effect.

This is Tong Liyu's first time filming, and it is also the first time she has gone to the scene, she stood in the middle of the courtyard, her expression was very serious, and she simply regarded the scene as an official shooting.

When an actor acts, he must relax physically and mentally, so that he can devote himself wholeheartedly, Cheng Peng reminded: "Yaya, relax, don't be so serious, now it's a play, mainly determine the position of your movement and your movements, relax a little!" ”

Tong Liyu nodded very seriously: "I know." ”

"It's still very serious, relax, come, laugh!"

Tong Liyu raised his face, the corners of his mouth turned up, and Cheng Peng grinned.

"Yaya, are you laughing? Smile as you normally would, and show your sharp fangs! ”

"I'm not a monster, where did I get the fangs? I'm a tiger tooth, a tiger tooth! Tong Liyu protested, and then laughed.

"Yaya, this is the state, I see your tiger teeth!"

Although it was just a simple shot of running in from outside the yard, the action also needed to be designed, Cheng Peng asked Tong Liyu to run first, and then began to correct her movements during the run.

After walking the scene twice, Tong Lihui's running route, the action was determined, and then the camera assistant posted a landmark according to the location of Tong Lihui's running, marking the various points where she started, ended, and paused in the middle of the scene. The advantage of this is, firstly, to help the actor control the rhythm, and secondly, the camera crew can adjust the focus according to the change in the actor's position.

After the play was completed, Tong Lihui was taken by the makeup artist to put on makeup; Chen Shaoping, the photography team, chose the angle according to Tong Liyu's running route, set up the camera, and began to adjust the aperture and focal length of the camera; The recording crew Li Zhenhao was also busy checking the recording equipment; Gaffers Wang Qinian and Zhou Yang began to set up the lights.

This scene takes place at noon, the weather is sunny, and there must be sunlight, because the next scene has to shoot a shot of the sun shining on the old lady's face, using sunlight to hint at her inner state. But it's nine o'clock in the morning, and it's cloudy and there's no sunlight, so you have to use the lighting to create the desired effect.

According to the position of the sun at 12 o'clock at noon, Wang Qinian arranged a 5,000-watt headlamp to let the light shine directly, and then corrected the brightness of the light according to the data of the light meter.

Many digital photography enthusiasts have had such an experience, encountering a rare beauty and quickly taking a picture, returning home and turning on the computer with great interest, only to find that the pictures are all waste films, the picture is too dark, and it is not clear at all.

The same is true for the camera, if we divide the range of light and darkness that our eyes can see, pure black is 0, pure white is 100, our eyes can see the range of 0 to 100, and the range that the camera can shoot is only about 30 to 70, and the rest of the shooting is either black or white, 0 to 30 is black, 70-100 is white, so the lighting can not rely on the eye, we must use a light meter to measure the accurate value of the light. Then adjust the brightness of the light according to this value and choose the most appropriate brightness.

Metering is mainly to measure the light on the actor's body, so when setting the light, someone must stand in the lens as a reference for the lighting. Actors need to memorize lines, figure out the characters, and put on makeup, so it is impossible for them to stand under the light for a long time, so light is generally used when setting up lighting.

There are no special requirements for light substitution, the height is about the same as that of an actor, the figure is similar, and you just need to wear clothes of the same color. Cheng Peng's crew did not invite a special light replacement, because Zhao Linlin's figure was about the same as Tong Liyu's, so Wang Qinian pulled her to be a light replacement.

Comrade Zhao Linlin stood under the light, bearing the scorching of 5,000 watts of light, wanting to cry without tears, why do you look for me for everything? I'm the saddest producer in the world! The temperature of this lamp is too high, I don't know if it will be dark, the old lady's snow-white 1 pink skin!

After tossing for more than half an hour, the lights were finally arranged, and Zhao Linlin was temporarily freed from the sea of suffering, and the movie began to enter the final shooting process.

Photographers and sound recordists are in place; The boom is used to prop up the boom and prepare for the radio; The artist inspects the set one last time; The actor is ready to get into the role; After the personnel who had nothing to do with the filming left the filming site, the crew was ready to shoot officially.

The job of shouting passwords has always been the job of the first assistant director, and the director only needs to sit in front of the monitor and stare at the actors' performances, and shout "stop" when he finds a mistake, which is the standard process of film shooting. However, this is Cheng Peng's first time making a movie, and he intends to enjoy it himself, so he ruthlessly deprives Zhang Meng of the right to issue orders.

Cheng Peng's gaze swept over everyone's faces, and seeing that everyone was looking at him, their expressions were both excited and full of anticipation, he took a deep breath and said loudly: "Now we are ready to shoot the first one, please keep quiet at the scene!" Is the camera ready? ”

Photographer Chen Shaoping replied: "Ready! ”

"Is the sound engineer ready?"

Recording engineer Li Zhenhao: "Ready. ”

"Are the actors ready?"

"Ready!"

Cheng Peng began to order: "Start recording." ”

"Recording has begun."

The board is the work of the second camera assistant, and the second camera assistant completes the work after the scene notes are filled in and the board is completed. The second camera assistant walked up to the camera with the board in hand, pointed the board directly at the camera, and said loudly: "The one hundred and thirty-fifth scene, the first shot, the first one!" ”

Cheng Peng saw the second camera assistant in place and shouted the order: "Turn on!" ”

Photographer Chen Shaoping started the camera: "It's turned on!" ”

Cheng Peng ordered again: "Play the board!" ”

The second camera assistant slammed the plate shut, made a crunch click, and then walked out of the camera's lens.

Chen Shaoping replied: "Ready!" ”

Cheng Peng gave the last order: "Let's start!" ”

Tong Liyu was wearing a blue long-sleeved T-shirt, sneakers, and a bag, standing outside the courtyard, when she heard the start of the password, she showed a cheerful smile on her face, a little proud, ran in from outside the yard, and then ran to the old lady's room.

But just as she passed by the camera, Cheng Peng, who was sitting behind the monitor, shouted: "Stop, the camera is turning too early, do it all over again." ”

"Stop, Yaya, you're running too fast, pay attention to the rhythm!"

"Stop. Yaya, her expression is too serious. You are a student of Chinese opera directing, the homework assigned by the teacher is to shoot a story with a camera, you think of a wonderful idea, and decide to shoot a "Day of the Old Lady", which makes you think of Zhao Lirong's sketch "The Day of the Heroic Mother", you think it is very fun, this is your psychological state, you have to show this state! ”

"Stop, the shadow of the boom has fallen on the actor, take the boom and pay attention to the position!"

……

When it was filmed for the tenth time, Cheng Peng couldn't find anything wrong with the actor's performance, and the playback effect of the monitor was also very good, the actor's running and the camera's movement were well coordinated.

However, it is not enough to just pass the performance, only if there is no problem with the photography and recording, this shot can pass. Because there is a difference between what the monitor sees and what the camera captures, there may be focal length problems, there may be foreign objects in the lens, etc., which cannot be seen on these monitors, and if these problems occur, they must be reshot; The same is true for recordings, such as the sound of other backgrounds, the sound of cars and airplanes, such as the boom being inappropriately stampered with, causing the actor to be too far away from the microphone, etc., all need to be reshot.

Therefore, after the director calls a stop, the director will check the surveillance, or direct the actor's performance, at this time, the first assistant director will confirm with the cameraman and sound recorder whether there is a problem with the footage, and then report to the director.

After this shot was taken, Zhang Meng immediately confirmed with the photographer and sound recorder, and immediately conveyed the message to Cheng Peng after receiving a positive answer: "No problem!" ”

Cheng Peng exhaled, stood up, and announced loudly: "This shot has passed, the next shot is ready!" ”
