First of all, what this novel needs to be adapted is its structure. Since I don't want the audience to have too much sense of substitution for the protagonist, the best way is naturally to turn the scene into a group play. If the protagonist of the first part is no longer Wang Miao, but Wang Miao, Dashi, and Ye Wenjie are portrayed as the protagonists together.

After this change. In the second part, it will be easier to continue the story of the big history, and since Levy wants to shoot science fiction films, then the real protagonist is naturally all mankind, and the story of all mankind does not need to highlight a protagonist too much.

And how can this be achieved? Levy is also in the head. Another work comes to mind: the 2006 movie, Crash.

The most outstanding thing about this movie is his multi-linear structure. Connecting three seemingly completely unrelated people with aliens is also Levy's idea. This kind of shooting method is very suitable for expressing group dramas, and what Levy wants is a large-scale science fiction story, which needs to reflect the appearance of all beings, so this structure is best in his opinion.

As for saying that if you use this structure, you may not be able to win an Oscar if you crash in the future - what is this about Levy? And Levy was originally more supportive of Ang Lee.

Structurally, this is the biggest change.

If the three characters in this novel want to be written into the script, the first and most important thing is to make them American citizens - North America is still the largest ticket base, and they must first take into account the thoughts of Americans.

And if these three people become Americans, the story will naturally have to change somewhat. Wang Miao is easier to say, he is a scientist, he is studying nanotechnology, basically does not involve too much background, and it is not difficult to change. For the big history, it is relatively simple. In this sci-fi story, Dashi is almost the only one who doesn't have much knowledge, nor does he have too majestic revenge, and just relies on his own emotional intelligence to do things, such a person is also more suitable for being arranged as a black person.

After all, if the film is made, then Levy wants to reflect the fate of all mankind. If there are whites and yellows in this story, but in the end there are no blacks who can occupy the scene, then the story is a little incomplete. And Levy didn't want black people to only be able to do some jobs like operators, so that science fiction fans all complained that black people were discriminated against even in the universe, so his idea was to let Dashi, a very important role, appear as a black person.

In times of crisis on the planet, any race stands up - since the story of human beings is filmed, then there should be no narrow-minded racism.

And the most difficult to adapt is Ye Wenjie, after all, her background involves political events, and Levy also thinks that Da Liu's work is arranged in order to illustrate the disasters brought to mankind by politics, which is a matter of human intrigue and intrigues, if you just adapt Ye Wenjie into a person who has been abused in childhood and has psychological trauma, then it will weaken this background too much and ignore a layer of meaning.

It's a bit of a trick to make - but it's not impossible. Because in the United States, after all, there was also a McCarthy era.
