CHAPTER XXVIII
I stiffened, then reached out and touched it, only to feel that my fingertips were slippery.
It's over, hooked into the meat.
I fumbled for the hook, gritted my teeth and pulled it out, then handed it over.
Feel two warm fingertips fall from your palm, and then suddenly empty. I breathed a sigh of relief, clenched my fists cautiously, looked at the man and said, "The hook has been returned to you, can I go?"
The man looked at me, then picked up the hook between his two fingers and looked at it, and said, "There are blood stains, did it hurt you?" ”
"Scratched the skin. But it's okay, this fox fairy has a strong mana, so I'm not afraid. Since it's okay, the fox fairy will go first! ”
I forced myself to compose myself and ran away.
Even though it's night, the vixen's eyesight is good! From a foot away, I could see a streak of blood on the little hook! If I look at it for a while, I guess I'll have to be dizzy. Thirty-six plans to go up! Let a mere human see a faint fox immortal...... Ahh Then how will I mix in the world in the future!
The man behind me didn't chase after me, I ran away from the man's sight, and then turned into my original form and ran out of the ground for a few miles, until the moon shadow sank to the west, and then stopped.
In front of me is a narrow loess path, and I don't know where it leads. I looked around, and there was no shop in front of the village, and there was no place to rest.
That's it, it's a fox anyway, so it's good to find a barley or a tree cat for the night.
I looked around and saw that a crooked-necked neem tree was growing well on the side of the road, and there was a large patch of artemisia grass a foot tall growing under the tree.
Well, that's it.
I ran over to the grass, intending to walk through the artemisia grass and climb up the tree to find a branch to rest for the night, but no sooner had I gotten into the artemisia grass than I heard a low whimper.
I stopped and listened carefully, and another whimper sounded, sounding like a wounded little beast.
I followed the sound and saw a little fox curled up in a ball. The little fox looked about a foot long, with fiery red fur, but the fluffy tail behind him was black and shiny, and it looked particularly funny.
I couldn't help but burst out laughing------ the half-foot-long tail of the one-foot-long fox was a black tail, it was really funny!
I don't know if I was dazzled, but I think a trace of embarrassment flashed in the little fox's eyes when I laughed.
Oh, how can this fox in the world seem to have become a spirit? Is this clearly an ordinary little fox, how can there still be emotions?
I popped into a human form and crouched down to touch the little fox's head. The little fox seemed to stiffen for a moment, then lowered its head and let me brush the fur from its head. After I stroked it a few times, the little fox arched my palm with its furry head, then shrunk its neck back and stared at me.
What's wrong? I wondered.
I saw the little fox struggling to raise one of its hind legs and squeak twice.
It turned out that it had a thin wire on its hind legs. The end of the wire is hidden in the artemisia grass, and you can't really see it if you don't look closely.
This should be the trap that hunters in the world hunt now, right?
I carefully pinched the little fox's hind legs, and saw that the end of the wire was tightly attached to its legs, and it had sunk deep into the flesh.
But luckily there was no bloodshed!
