Chapter 3: The Lost Treasure of the Dragon King Temple (Part 3)
In the mid-90s, the Harajuku/Yu City Cultural Department began to repair the Dragon King Temple for the second time after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and also began to pursue the original cultural flow of the Dragon King Temple.
In the summer of '97, during the investigation, a folk drum artist surnamed Jiang provided a clue that when he was playing the trumpet at the house of the director of a farm tool factory in a nearby town, he had seen an iron tripod, and the inscription on the tripod indicated that it was a relic of the Dragon King Temple in the Saohe River.
The director of the factory claimed that when he was making steel in 58 years, Yuhe Town sold it to the farm tool factory, and the cultural museum personnel were very excited. It must be known that the iron tripod of the Dragon King Temple Palace can be regarded as a must in the palace, it is made of fine iron, more than two meters high, the shape is like a delicate pagoda, the carved dragon and the phoenix, the multi-layer cornice, the bronzing main top, if it can return, whether it is from the perspective of cultural relics protection, or from the perspective of the study of the historical data of the palace, it will be of great significance.
After getting the consent of the relevant departments, the museum personnel decided to contact the director of the farm tool factory head-on, and after several conversations, the director insisted that he had never seen any thousand catties of iron ding, and took the museum personnel to inspect the factory, and there was indeed no such thing.
The museum personnel were not discouraged, decided to take the initiative to rely on the local party organization, the director of the factory to strengthen the knowledge of national cultural relics and laws and regulations education, after repeated publicity, patient persuasion, the director finally admitted that he did have a collection of Longwang Temple palace of an iron, this is their own buy out of the property rights of the farm tool factory, from the farm tool factory warehouse moved home, but this iron is by no means the cultural staff said a thousand catties of iron Ding, just a shape like an iron basin thing, because I do not know the sloppy call Ding, the director of the factory moved out of the home, This is a large iron chime with a diameter of about two feet, it is basin-shaped, the four walls are cast with inscriptions, it is cast by the abbot of the Longwang Temple of the Saohe River during the Guangxu period, the cultural museum personnel try to knock it, the sound quality is long and soothing, very beautiful, it can be said to be well preserved. All the cultural and museum personnel were very happy, and the director of the factory personally drove the truck to transport the iron chime back to the palace of the Dragon King Temple after a 40-year absence.
In 83 years, the relevant provincial and municipal departments carried out the first large-scale repair of the Longwang Temple in the Saohe River after the liberation. Soon after the news was published in the newspaper, the cultural department of Su/Yu County at that time received a letter from the Pearl Gate/North District, the writer claimed to be a monk in the Longwang Temple Palace before liberation, and returned to the vulgar after liberation, and went to Mingzhu City to be an ordinary worker, and at the time of writing, he was retired at home.
In his letter, the retired worker recounted such an incident: On the eve of the second liberation of Su/Henan, he and several other senior brothers were instructed to put the original imperial writings of the Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, and Jiaqing emperors, several large bags of holy decrees, and some calligraphy, paintings, account books, and other items that were considered to be of high value at that time into boxes and buried them in the ground. The letter testified that the burial place was directly below the bend of the staircase in the rear hall, against the wall and inward under the ninth Luodi brick, with a depth of about five to six feet in the center.
After reading the letter, most people in the county propaganda department and cultural department thought that this was nonsense, and that under the historical conditions at that time, the "left" things in people's minds still occupied a considerable position, and on the other hand, the awareness of cultural relics was indifferent, believing that even if it was true, it was just some "feudal dross".
However, at that time, a comrade in charge of the news department paid attention, and he went to the field with the director of the library who was in charge of cultural and museum work at that time, and to their disappointment, the rear hall had long been changed beyond recognition. The original hall was a heavy building structure, but the second floor was demolished by the grain department in the early days of liberation, and there is no staircase, so there is no way to find the bend of the staircase. In addition, the ground had already been covered with a thick layer of cement, and the ninth Luodi brick could not be confirmed, and the most important thing was that the hall was full of hundreds of tons of grain at that time, and it was impossible to see the ground, let alone dig five feet or six feet, so the two of them had to give up.
In 99 years, the provincial and municipal cultural protection departments decided to carry out the third large-scale restoration of the Longwang Temple, and the rebuilt hall is also in the restoration plan, coincidentally, the comrade who worked in the Propaganda Department was already one of the main leaders of Su/Yu County, and was responsible for this work at the same time, he recalled the letter of the year, and clearly instructed that in the restoration process, we must cooperate with many parties, pay attention to finding the cultural relics that may be hidden in the year.
In the summer of 2,000 years, the reconstruction project of the main hall of the palace of the Yuhe Dragon King Temple began, and the foundation excavation work was just halfway through, and the inspiring good news came from the construction site: the construction personnel dug up a broken stone tablet at the root of the east wall. After cleaning up the site, the museum personnel found no other items, so they instructed the workers to carefully lift the stele out.
After preliminary research, this is a chronicle tablet that records the land of the temple at that time in the Longwang Temple. The discovery of this stele is important for the study of the origin and economic supply of the Dragon King Temple. The state of development is of great significance.
However, the next construction process, but to the eagerly anticipation of the people poured a basin of cold water, in the two months, digging nearly three meters deep in the process of foundation cleaning, the museum personnel and construction personnel filtered and surveyed all the soil layers, except for the discovery of a large number of rubble, porcelain, charcoal, lime and other cultural layers, can be said to be nothing, it is a big disappointment.
After the incident, the construction technicians and the comrades of the county museum made a serious analysis of the matter, and they believed that even if they did not find treasures such as the "Imperial Book Sacred Decree" mentioned in Mingzhu's letter, it could not be determined that Mingzhu's letter was fabricated out of thin air.
According to the analysis of the ancient construction engineers, although the foundation of the rear hall is dug very wide, and the area is very wide, after all, the ground in the center of the hall is still untouched, maybe the treasure is buried in the center of the hall.
Because it is not a formal excavation of cultural relics, so it is inconvenient to dig deeply, according to the comparison and analysis of the museum personnel, it is found that there are a large number of bricks, tiles, lime and other building materials fragments that are consistent with the original ground building of this hall in the excavated cultural layer, which shows that in about five or seven years, when the grain department demolished the upper floor of the main hall, the underground part of the hall has been excavated. Perhaps, the treasure was doomed at the time.
At the end of 98, an old man surnamed Tian from a village in a village in Yuhe Town, just across the river from Yuhe Town, told his son on his deathbed that he had been a monk guarding the temple of the Dragon King.
In June 1948, he was instructed and several other brothers and sisters to pack up the silver dollars, silverware and some gold objects in the temple, put them into wooden boxes, and bury them on the east side of the big theater in front of the Zen Gate.
The comrades in the museum attached great importance to it, and after obtaining the consent of the relevant leaders, according to the old man surnamed Tian, they found the ruins of the wall foundation of the Grand Theater, and began to excavate a few meters to the east and a few meters to the north.
After careful inspection, the experienced technicians of the ancient construction team judged that this place had been excavated by others, and the time of theft and excavation was at least 40 years old. In other words, it is very likely that the monk who participated in the burial later secretly stole the treasure.
Combined with some historical facts, the museum personnel analyzed: In June 1948, out of incomprehension of our party's policy, the monks of the Longwang Temple once hid gold and silver, soft and some valuable antiques, calligraphy and paintings, and other items.
In such a royal temple with thousands of hectares of fertile land and dozens of houses, many treasured treasures cannot be buried in one place by one person alone, but by multiple groups at a time, so the clues of the cellar location are diverse and uncertain. (To be continued.) )
