Another theory about the "White Snake" is related to Jinshan Temple, but it is not a Zen master of the Sea. According to the "Biography of the High Monk", more than 80 years ago when Zen Master Fahai came to Hangzhou, there was a high monk named Lingtan, who was the nephew of Wu Zetian, and he had been a prince and a general secretary. After becoming a monk, Lingtan once drove away a white python in the python cave in Jinshan, and later, people integrated these people and things related to Jinshan Temple and Fahai Zen Master artistically, and gradually formed a well-known folk tale.

So from the perspective of real history, Fahai should have done a great good deed, and it is really a great grievance to be made a villain.

In the "Reading Cave" outside the Jinshan Temple, there is a tall sitting statue of Fahai reading the scriptures with a benevolent wisdom and a clear heart, which is admired by many visitors.
