=====
Although Lin Hong has no problem with standing only in the three-body pose for three years, he is still a child after all, and to some extent, he still has the nature of a child who is interested in new things, and he is still very happy to finally be able to learn the actual practice.
So in the following days, in addition to continuing to stand in the tri-asana, he had another activity, and had to spare two more hours to play routines.
As a ham, Lin Hong has never participated in related competitions, which has to be said to be a pity. So he decided to participate in this year's cqww_dx competition, on the one hand, to add some fun to the relatively boring life, and on the other hand, to test his current technical level.
Through the last call with oh3lus, Lin Hong also had some feelings in his heart, if you want to continue to improve, you must learn to embrace change, take the initiative to contact some new things, and you can't ignore or even reject them because you are not interested in them for the time being.
Since that time, Lin Hong has communicated with oh3lus several times again, and learned some details of the cqww_dx competition in detail, because the other party has participated in many such competitions, is very experienced, and has given Lin Hong a lot of help and advice.
cqww_dx competition was divided into three modes, and considering his own equipment and environmental factors, Lin Hong decided to participate in the CW mode solo competition. CW mode, also known as equal-wave telegraphy, uses electrical keys to receive and send signals in Morse code.
Morse code is a time-on and intermittent signal code, which expresses different English letters, numbers and punctuation marks through different sequence sequences. It was invented by the American Alfeld #Weir and eventually became a universal standard for wireless telegraphy all over the world.
For example, the letter u is represented by an electric key code as "Didida", while the greeting is "Dididadi".
The reason why the CW mode was chosen to participate in the competition is mainly because the CW pulse signal has relatively low requirements for the equipment, usually only one-tenth of the power required by the SSB mode (voice mode), and the signal has a wide propagation and is not easy to be interfered with.
After deciding to participate, Lin Hong began to prepare for the competition.
These days, he is consciously training his Morse code shorthand and sending abilities.
Before that, although he relied on his super memory, he was not bad at using electric keys to receive and send Morse code, but he still felt a little awkward.
What he did before was to create a corresponding table in his mind, such as which letter represents how many drops and how many da, and he remembered it clearly in his mind. In this way, if he wants to send the letter "A", he will first search for the encoded "tick" corresponding to A in his mind, and then send this short and long signal through the electric key. The same is true for receiving signals, every time you hear a "tick" sound, you first need to search for the corresponding letter in your mind, and then record it on the manuscript paper.
In fact, this kind of efficiency is relatively low, and it can be done at slow speeds, but once the speed is increased, he feels a little struggling. Normally, he has no problem communicating like this, but through oh3lus, he learned that when the time comes, tens of thousands of hams around the world are sending signals at the same time, and if you want to get better points and rankings, it is definitely not possible to be slow.
Lin Hong also asked about the specific training method of oh3lus, and the other party told him about one of the more popular training methods in the world, "Koch training method", which was summarized and released by an American with the call sign N1IRZ. In fact, it is relatively simple, and the principle is from simple to complex.
In the beginning, start with two letters, preferably a computer that can automatically broadcast a random two-letter code signal, and then listen to it and quickly record what you hear. Keep repeating the training in a loop until the accuracy reaches more than 90 percent. Then gradually increase the number of letters, three, four...... Or even a dozen.
The speed of the broadcast must be carried out at full speed at the beginning, and it is not allowed to go from slow to fast. The purpose of this is to not allow you to build such a correspondence table in your mind, to completely transform the code signal into your own instinct, as if you were talking in normal times, and say whatever comes to mind, instead of thinking of a meaning first, and then converting it into appropriate language, and then saying it.
That's one of the benefits of being computer-assisted.
Lin Hong naturally didn't have such conditions, but he thought of a way to let oh3lus use the computer to send a random two-letter signal, and then he recorded the received audio with his Walkman, and for this matter, he also wasted a cassette of Sun Wu's "Little Tigers" pop songs.
Sun Wu didn't know about it at first, and the day after Lin Hong recorded it, he took the tape to school, and lent the Walkman to a mm to listen to, because that mm was a big fan of the Little Tigers, but what he heard in the headphones was a strange sound of "Di Di Da Da...... Sun Hu's face turned green at that time, and he didn't know that this voice was the things that Lin Hong often enjoyed tinkering with at night.
In addition to training the speed of Morse code, Lin Hong also began to prepare some hardware things, such as collecting materials to make antennas for the competition, making some log records for the competition, and so on.
cqww_dx's CW competition time is the last weekend of November every year, and it is only the beginning of November, and there are still about 20 days left, so Lin Hong has plenty of time to prepare.
cqww_dx competition is a worldwide event, every year attracts countless hams to rush to participate, if you can achieve a better ranking in this event, it proves that your skills are quite good, speaking in the ham circle naturally has weight, and will be admired and admired by countless peers.
While Lin Hong was preparing in an orderly manner, there were also many hams in other parts of China who were also actively preparing for this competition. Lin Hong has often heard people talking about this on the radio recently, and many people are calling friends, and the friends who usually think that they have good skills are anxious to prepare for this event.
As the days passed, the start date of the cqww_dx tournament was getting closer and closer.
In a small courtyard on the eastern outskirts of Tanglin City, four young people about seventeen or eighteen years old were sitting around and discussing, visiting a few white drawings on the small wooden table in front of them.
If Lin Hong were here, he would have found at a glance that one of them was a drawing of an eight-wood antenna, and the other was an inverted V-shaped antenna.
These young people are all key members of the Tanglin Radio Club, and what they are discussing at the moment is about participating in this cqww_dx competition.
And in a certain compound in the capital thousands of miles away, there are also several young people who are actively preparing for this matter.
