Chapter 301: Lingshan Temple
Chapter 301 Lin San Temple
This Lingshan Temple is a well-known temple in this area, coupled with the tourism effect of Lingshan Scenic Area, there is an endless stream of pilgrims. The gate of the temple has been renovated in the later period, and now it is made of glazed tiles, which looks magnificent. As soon as you enter the gate of the temple, you can see the pilgrims with solemn expressions everywhere, and the incense burned with devout incense, which adds a touch of mystery to the whole Lingshan.
Grandma also donated incense and walked into the hall to incense, in fact, our Kui family doesn't believe in these very much, and it is not easy to establish any religious beliefs if we can see ghosts and gods, but grandma said that after all, when it comes to the realm of others, it is better to be respectful. Ji Ziyang didn't know where to go for a long time, so I was bored with nothing to do, so I just started reading the history and introduction of this temple.
Lingshan Temple was built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the main hall is called the Daxiong Treasure Palace, grand and solemn, divided into the front hall and the apse. The front hall is dedicated to Shakyamuni, and on both sides are eighteen arhats, so there is no need to go into detail here. The main one is the apse, which enshrines the woodcarved statue of the monk Yang Xuexin, the founder of Lingshan Temple.
Speaking of this Yang Xuexin, it is worth mentioning, this person can really be called a strange person. He was born in a scholarly family, his father was originally a pavilion elder of the Yongzheng Dynasty, and Qianlong was also gifted with Hanlin in the third year. He recited Confucian classics since he was a child, married at the age of sixteen, died of his wife at the age of seventeen, and entered Sichuan at the age of eighteen to seek Taoism. Later, I passed through a place called "Immortal Cave", took refuge in Buddhism, and the Dharma name was Wuzhen. Later, when he traveled all over the world and passed through Lingshan. Moved by the strange peaks and strange scenery of Lingshan, he built a temple here. During the Jiaqing period, he died in the temple at the age of 56. Seven days after his death, his disciples saw his physical body, still smiling, as if he was alive, so he moved his physical body to the Buddhist hall and enshrined it for a long time, which is also one of the factors that make Lin San Temple famous. The gold body has survived for more than 160 years. It was burned down by the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution. Now it's a big drawback.
I was wandering around the courtyard of the temple, but my grandmother suddenly asked me to go in and asked me to put incense on the Buddha statues in the front and back halls. I also learn from the good men and women in the TV series. Bowed and respectfully incense. I see that in the apse, in addition to the Buddha statue, there is also a statue of the protector of the Vedic Dharma. It's kind of weird.
Speaking of this Vede, I have to say two more words. There are so many bodhisattvas that it is difficult to tell what each of them does. However, this Vedic Bodhisattva has a fixed occupation that will not change for a long time, that is, the protector of the Dharma. Veda Bodhisattva can be seen in many temples, usually behind the Buddha statue, wearing a phoenix-winged helmet, dark clouds and soap shoes on his feet, and yellow chain mail, with a solemn and respectful expression. It is said that when the Buddha entered Nirvana, an evil god snatched the bones of the Buddha, but fortunately, Veda arrived in time and struggled to recapture them. Therefore, Buddhism regards him as a god who drives away evil spirits and protects the Dharma.
However, it is really strange that Wei Tuo in this Lingshan Temple is actually sitting.
"Grandma, I have also been to a few temples, and the Wei Tuo I saw was all standing, why is this Wei Tuo actually sitting, so strange." I asked.
Before Grandma could answer, a very small monk next to him actually spoke, "The donor doesn't know, all the Wei Tuo in the whole world is standing, and only the Wei Tuo in our Lingshan Temple is sitting." Vedic Bodhisattva stands to protect the Dharma in order to guard against evil gods, but our Lingshan Temple, which gathers the aura of heaven and earth, is very quiet and there will be any evil gods there, so there is no need for Veda Bodhisattva to stand and protect the Dharma like that. What's more, Veda Bodhisattva is standing hard, so it is better to sit down and meditate. "Although the little monk is young, he speaks eloquently, and he is also well-behaved and lovely.
"How old is this little master?" Grandma asked lovingly.
"Eight." The little monk said.
"Seeing that you have already shaved your head at a young age, do you have a legal name?" Grandma asked.
"My name is Gozen." The little monk said smartly.
"Gozen? This founding patriarch is called Wuzhen, why are you actually the same generation as him? I asked.
"Well, that's right, because I happened to be born on the same day as Master Wuzhen, so the host personally allowed me to use the Wuzi generation, and I am the only one in the whole temple." Little monk.
"I'm here to make incense, in addition to this, I have already contacted the host before, I don't know if he is free now, see me?" Grandma asked.
"It's really unfortunate that my master is in retreat now, but he told me before, the two donors' surnames?" The little monk asked.
"The surname is Kui, ear, ghost, Kui." Grandma said.
"That's it, the master said that the two donors are also here for the Qing retreat, and they have already arranged it for you, let me lead the two of them there." The little monk made a gesture of please, and then walked happily ahead of us. We followed the little monk and passed through the main hall of Lin San Temple. This Lingshan Temple is centered on the patio of the main hall, and there are many houses and corridors on both sides, which are connected vertically and horizontally, and are integrated, if there is not a little monk to lead the way, you will really get lost.
The little monk's footsteps were fast and light, obviously a person who practiced martial arts, and I saw him take me and my grandmother to stop in front of a wing room behind him.
"Two of you, these two rooms are for you, where you can rest, meditate, and meditate." The little monk said. I casually opened the door and looked, the room was very clean, facing east, according to Ziqi Donglai, this is a good place to repair.
"There is nothing big about the place where the Qing is cultivated, it is mainly another place." Grandma said, why is there another place? I wondered.
"You come with me." The little monk walked forward as he spoke, and he came to a corner of the whole temple, where there was a small door, because it was hidden behind the cloister, and it was blocked by pillars, and it was really not easy to find. The little monk pushed open the small door, and a downward stone staircase appeared in front of him, and now what he is most afraid of is what stone steps, this day has nothing else to do but go up and down.
We went down the stone steps, the place where the stone steps led looked like a valley, but we turned around and walked into the mountains, but fortunately, the stone steps and the gentle stone road were mixed, and it was not difficult to walk, we turned another corner, and the scenery in front of us suddenly opened up.
In front of us were many emerald lakes, connected in patches, three in all.
"Even the three seas." Grandma said.
"The donor is very knowledgeable, this is the wonder of our Lingshan Temple, even the three seas. Here are three well-preserved glacial cirque formations that make up three glacial lakes, which are closed to the public on weekdays, and your retreat is right in front of you. After the little monk finished the introduction, he led us forward, and after a while we came to an open field, and the stone path and stone steps we walked only came here. I stood in the open and looked back at Lian Sanhai, and after changing the angle, the scene I saw was different again. There is a lake, from this point of view, it is very obvious, there is a glacier leading to the center of the lake, dividing the entire lake into two, from a long distance it is clearly a natural gossip map.
"Grandma, look, that lake." I hurriedly asked my grandmother to come and see, and the little monk on the side also came over with a smile.
"Donor's eyes, there is what we call Taiji Lake, if the lake is sunny on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, it will be in the afternoon because of the light, the depth of the lake is different, because the sun is shining, so half of it is red, it is really like gossip." The little monk said.
"It's amazing." I said with emotion.
"I'd better show you your retreat." The little monk turned around and walked forward, and I found that at the end of the original open field, some of the shrubs there were planted artificially, and there was a stone cave behind the shrubs, which seemed to be another place that my grandmother said.
I see that the stone cave is also like a man-made dug, the hole is not wide, only one person can bend over to pass, and I am still muttering in my heart, what is such a small hole for. I followed my grandmother and the little monk and walked in, and when I entered the cave, I found that there was really a different cave, and the cave was unusually open.
"I didn't see this hole, but it was so spacious that even a villa could be stuffed into it." I say.
"This is a natural cave that our predecessors accidentally discovered, but there is no entrance, this large area is hollow, and it was accidentally discovered when building a cave for storage." The little monk said.
"What a good place to be, to bother the abbot." Grandma said politely, "Let's leave it like this for the time being, starting tomorrow, follow me every morning to cultivate, and come here in the afternoon, I have my own arrangements." Grandma said mysteriously.
It was not early, we were ready to go back to the temple, and on the way back, we met a few monks from the temple, although the facilities of the temple are also very complete, but the temple will still arrange for the monks to take turns to go down the mountain to fetch water, so as to hone their will.
"Brother Wushan, good." The monks who came down the mountain to fetch water greeted the little monk one after another.
"I didn't see it, at your young age, you are already a senior brother." I say.
"What's so strange about this, in our temple, we are divided into generations according to the number of years of entry, so I am the senior brother." After all, it was a child, and he looked proud when he said this.
"Eight years old, when did you enter the temple?" Grandma asked.
"I've been in the temple since I was born, I'm an orphan, and the master picked me up." The little monk said.
Grandma suddenly fell silent, feeling that she had said the wrong thing, and the atmosphere became awkward.
"However, it's not in the way, the master is very good to me, and I am very content." The little monk said sensibly.
While we were talking, we had arrived at the temple, and although we only ate vegetarian food in the temple, the aroma of food wafted out at noon, and I felt hungry at this time, and I couldn't help but rub my stomach. When I came to the dining hall, I was about to go to the dining hall when my grandmother put a woodcarved plate in front of me.
"It's yours." Grandma said.
The utensils here are all wooden, and I looked at the wooden plate in front of me, "What, just eat this?" (To be continued......)
