Chapter 302: Lighting the Lamp
The Great Yin Stupa sits on the outskirts of the city on the slope of a large mountain, and it enshrines the true body relics of the Great Yin Venerable. Hence the name of the stupa.
For more than 300 years, it has received countless pilgrims and wish-makers, and has witnessed the rise and fall of a dynasty.
Whenever the morning dawn or night falls, the bell and drum tower in front of the pagoda will ring a long bell, the sound is melodious, loud and solemn, such as the warning words, such as the first sound of heaven and earth from ancient times, and like the comfort of a loving mother, which makes people feel comfortable and stop suffering.
Yan Jinxuan took Mrs. Lu and Su Shanyun from the foot of the mountain and slowly went up the mountain.
This is not a short journey, Yan Jinxuan originally wanted to find a sedan chair to carry them up, but they insisted on using their legs to walk to the pagoda, Yan Jinxuan understood what they meant, so he didn't force it.
Throughout the road, Yan Jinxuan pulled Mrs. Lu with one hand and Su Shanyun with the other, as if she was afraid that they would get lost.
Honka followed along, carrying things for burning incense and lighting lamps, as well as scriptures copied by Yan Jinxuan and Madame Lu.
The setting sun stains the sky red, and the heat of the day is gradually blown away by the breeze, which is really a good time to climb high and look into the distance.
The higher they climbed, the cooler they felt, and gradually they heard the sound of drums on the bell and drum tower.
Then came the melodious and long sound of the bells.
One by one, it refreshes people's hearts.
Yan Jinxuan thought of the monk in his previous life, and his heart swelled with inexplicable determination.
In fact, in this life, he has inexplicably liked to read Buddhist scriptures since he was very young, and pursued such a spiritual realm. Even if there is love/lust like most men. But he also retains the Buddha-nature side in his heart, which is why he was able to maintain a pure heart and few desires in his youth.
If it weren't for Su Shanyun, he would actually be a person who feels very cold.
In this life, all his enthusiasm may only be ignited by Su Shanyun, thinking like this in his heart, he couldn't help but look at Su Shanyun.
Su Shanyun was walking intently.
There was already a thin layer of fragrant sweat on her face, but she didn't seem to notice it, and always looked at the road under her feet with a reverent and respectful expression.
Yan Jinxuan reached out to help her wipe it.
Her face suddenly turned crimson, and she hurriedly whispered, "Thank you!" β
Look at her crimson face and her delicate cherry mouth. Yan Jinxuan had the urge to kiss her again. However, due to the presence of his mother, he held back.
There is really such a sensible, sweet, lovely and gentle woman in this world.
And she just stayed by his side obediently, but never put the slightest pressure on him.
How fortunate he was!
In fact, there is a seed in everyone's heart, and it may be love, or faith. Maybe it's family, career. Or whatever.
He was thinking: if he hadn't met her in this life. In fact, it is very likely that he will follow the path of his previous life.
When the bell struck one hundred and eight times, they arrived right in front of the door of the Great Yin Stupa.
They first offered the hand-copied scrolls to the Buddha, and then took out the lamp bowl that had been cleaned when they came out. Ghee is poured and the wick of cotton thread in the bowl is lit with fire, and then it is respectfully enshrined in front of the stupa.
Mrs. Lu, Yan Jinxuan, and Su Shanyun each offered one, and then Mrs. Lu offered one for the whole family.
After the offering, Yan Jinxuan said to them: "I want to offer an everlasting lamp in the Great Yin Pagoda, what do you think?" β
As the old saying goes: A lamp can break through a thousand years of darkness, and a wisdom can extinguish a thousand years of foolishness.
This is naturally a good thing.
So Mrs. Lu and Su Shanyun nodded in agreement without hesitation. So Yan Jinxuan placed them in the lounge on the west side of the Great Yin Pagoda, and sent ten more followers to guard them, and then went to see the abbot.
After about two quarters of an hour, Honmatsu came and said to them, "My lord, let you go to the main hall and listen to the chanting of the monks. β
The two of them then got up and followed Honka into the inner courtyard.
But I saw that there were nearly thirty eminent monks standing in the main hall, and they were reciting the Vajra Prajnaparamita Sutra at this time.
Mrs. Lu and Su Shanyun listened respectfully on the side.
ββ¦β¦ The Buddha said to Subodhi: 'All Bodhisattvas and Mahasattvas should subdue their minds in this way: All sentient beings and the likeβif they are oviparous, if they are viviparous, if they are wet, if they are incarnated, if they are colored, if they are colorless, if they are not thinking, if they are not thinking, they are all extinguished. If it is the destruction of immeasurable and countless boundless sentient beings, there are no sentient beings who have attained extinction. Why? Subodhi, if a bodhisattva has the appearance of self, the appearance of people, the appearance of sentient beings, and the appearance of the long-lived, that is, he is not a bodhisattva...... All appearances are vain. If you see things that are not like each other, then you see them as they are......"
While they were chanting, Su Shanyun was thinking about the reincarnation of human life and death.
Birth, Growth, Aging, Death, Birth......
Everything in the world, no matter how prosperous it may be, is essentially nothing more than a pile of particles.
In this way, she suddenly vaguely understood that 'all appearances are false.' If you see that everything is not the same, then you can see the mystery of 'coming as it comes'.
After they finished listening to the Vajra Prajnaparamita Sutra, Yan Jinxuan and the abbot walked out of it.
Mrs. Lu and Su Shanyun hurriedly clasped their palms together and saluted the abbot.
Yan Jinxuan informed them that the abbot had allowed them to worship the Everbright Lantern at the Dayin Pagoda.
So they went and lit the lamp.
Yan Jinxuan then donated a sum of sesame oil money to the monastery.
The host also gave each of them a string of Buddhist beads that had been opened.
As they descended, it began to get dark. So Honka and three other retinue lit the lanterns.
Since they had to pass through the new house in Daxingmen when they returned, they stopped by to take a look.
Mrs. Lu was too tired, so she sat down directly in the hall to rest. Yan Jinxuan and Su Shanyun held hands and looked around.
Yan Jinxuan took a book from the bookshelf and handed it to Su Shanyun and said, "Take this book back and take a look." β
Su Shanyun took it and saw that it was "Zhu Zizhi's Maxims", and said, "Okay, I will study it well when I go back." β
Yan Jinxuan smiled and touched her head.
At this time, Honka came in and said to Yan Jinxuan, "Madame asked you to go to the kitchen, she said that there is still something missing there." β
Su Shanyun wanted to go into their future wedding room to have a look, so she didn't follow.
Yan Jinxuan asked Mama Song to stay with Su Shanyun.
The things in the wedding room have long been in place.
Because Yan Jinxuan often sends people to clean, it looks very clean.
Su Shanyun looked here, touched there, and felt that everything here was very much in line with her heart.
Suddenly, Su Shanyun found a small round glass bottle on the bedside table.
She walked over and picked it up and looked at it curiously.
It was a very small bottle with a small lid on it.
Su Shanyun didn't know what it was for. (To be continued......)
