Section 29 Miscellaneous Learning

Cai Ji did not know that Lu Su was worried about the conflict between the miscellaneous schools that had emerged in Donglai and traditional Confucianism. But even if she knew, she wouldn't care too much. In Cai Ji's view, Confucianism is a school that pays attention to accession to the WTO, and the ultimate goal of joining the WTO is to achieve the four words "inner sage and outer king". To this end, Confucianism does not mind merging the doctrines of other schools. Even in the face of 'great changes unseen in 3,000 years', Confucian scholars were determined to integrate Chinese and Western philosophies to establish Neo-Confucianism.

Therefore, Cai Ji is confident that as long as she is strong enough, Confucianism will not only not reject miscellaneous studies, but will take the initiative to integrate miscellaneous studies. As a traverser, all she has to do is create an environment suitable for science to grow and develop, and pass on what she knows and learns. Just like Cai Ji at this moment, he was in the study and carefully recalled the knowledge he had learned in his previous life.

From the three elements of force to density and pressure, from chemical changes and physical changes to mixtures and oxides, these knowledge points are only at the junior high school level in later generations, but every law, formula and concept needs to be accompanied by rigorous derivation and proof, as well as corresponding experiments, so that physics and chemistry can be accepted by the scholars of this era as a theory. But Cai Ji was born as a liberal arts student in his last life, and he was busy with official affairs in this life. Only when there is no war can she spare an hour every day to recall the physical and chemical knowledge she had learned in her previous life. So the whole process of sorting out memories is going very slowly. Sometimes when encountering a law or concept that he didn't know how to prove, Cai Ji could only hand it over to Xu Yue and others in a hypothetical way to study and demonstrate.

This is mostly the case. After all, chemistry is more abstract, neither as clear as physics, nor as clear as mathematics. If you're not careful, chemistry can easily be misinterpreted as a spell. However, Duan Zhi combined his alchemy experience to standardize the terminology of chemical experiments, which greatly improved the efficiency of chemical experiments in Jiangwutang. It's just that this makes people think of chemistry as a branch of alchemy. Cai Ji firmly believes that only by insisting on popular science can we change the prejudice of the world. But right now, it seems that I'm afraid I'm stuck again today.

With a wry smile in his heart, Cai Ji put down his pen and stretched, and when he looked up, he saw Cao Pi sitting in front of the desk and transcribing "Sun Tzu of Qi", which was called "Sun Bin Art of War" in later generations. Under the light, the young man's figure was tall and slender. The bamboo slips piled up high on both sides of his pen unhurriedly turned into thin pages.

Cai Ji believes that with Cao Pi's qualifications, he will be able to memorize almost the entire "Qi Sun Tzu" after he has transcribed all the bamboo slips. In fact, whether in the previous life or in this life, Cai Ji has a super memory. It's just that she spent all her energy on English and history back then. The former allowed her to work in a bank in her previous life, while the latter helped her earn a fortune in the late Han Dynasty. Now it seems that it would have been more perfect if I could have worked harder to memorize all the textbooks on mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Just when Cai Ji laughed at himself in his heart that he couldn't carry the entire library in his last life. Lily of the valley walked into the study with a pot of barley tea and two plates of chestnut cakes. Seeing this, Cai Ji put his index finger over his lips and motioned to Lily of the Valley not to disturb Cao Pi. The latter immediately left refreshments and quietly withdrew from the study.

After Cao Pi finished copying the art of war, he saw that there was an extra plate of chestnut cakes in front of him. This crispy and delicious Hu cake made from chestnut mixed with caramel is a famous spot in the Qihou Mansion, and at the moment it exudes an enticing sweet aroma. Just listen to the "grunt". The young flesh made an honest sound, and the young man's cheeks quickly flew into two flushes.

Seeing this, Cai Ji pushed the plate forward again, "Eat it while it's hot." οΌ‚

Cao Pi thanked him shamefully. Immediately wiped it off, took a piece of chestnut cake, and ate it with relish. It is true that his stomach is already growling with hunger, but the boy still eats quite one bite at a time. The strict appearance of etiquette seems to have a bit of Cao Ang's shadow.

As soon as he thought of Cao Ang, a faint ripple appeared in Cai Ji's heart. Just two months ago, news came from Xu Du. Cao Ang, who had been promoted to the rank of right general, eventually married a wife under Cao Cao's arrangement. The woman is the daughter of the Taishan Goat. is not the granddaughter of the former Taifu Ma Riyan who has been circulating before. And the strength of the former family is much greater than that of the latter. It is important to know that the Taishan Goat clan is a famous family of the Han and Wei dynasties in history, and almost all generations have people who have official positions of more than 2,000 stones, and they are all known for being honest and virtuous. Among them, the most famous figure is the founding father of the Western Jin Dynasty, Yang Hu, Uncle Yang. It was this person who planned to destroy Wu and help Sima Yan, Emperor Wu of the Jin Dynasty, dominate the world. So even if that girl is just a partial branch of the Yang family, this marriage is still beneficial to Cao Cao.

However, in Cai Ji's view, with Cao Cao's current reputation. Cao Ang's ability to marry such a famous family is most likely the result of Mrs. Ding's secret activities. After all, in history, the wives of Cao Cao's sons belonged to Cao Zhi's original partner, Cui, and he was born in a famous family, and the other people were not from prominent backgrounds. It is no wonder that Cao Cao's granddaughter-in-law, Empress Mao, sneered, saying, "The Cao family is self-righteous and cheap, and there is no one who can do righteous deeds." Although Empress Mao was deposed because of this, her words expressed the dissatisfaction of Confucianism with the Cao family in history.

It must be known that Confucianism has always attached great importance to marriage, and there is a saying that "the family is upright and the world is determined". For the marriage of the ruler, it is not only reflected in a series of red tape, but more importantly, the principle of virtue is emphasized. And now Cao Yang's marriage is in line with Confucian values and satisfies Cao Cao's vital interests, so it is naturally a good marriage made in heaven. As for whether the person concerned is happy or not, no one cares at all.

I couldn't be the same - Cai Ji laughed at himself as he took a sip of slightly bitter barley tea. On the other hand, Cao Pi had eaten all the chestnut cakes on the plate. Seeing this, Cai Ji poured a cup of tea for Cao Pi and asked, "Zihuan is still used to talking about martial arts?" β€˜

Xu is rare to meet Qi Hou personally pouring tea for himself, Cao Pi seemed somewhat flattered, but seeing that he replied with a little restraint, "Back to Qi Hou, it is really an honor for Pi to be able to study in the lecture martial arts hall." Pi can't wait to pillow every day. οΌ‚

Regardless of Cao Pi's sycophants or loyalty, at least the speed and quality of his book copying in the past few months are obvious to all. In addition, Xu Yue, Xu Gan and others also mentioned more than once that Cao Pi studied seriously and thought quickly in the lecture hall, which was well received by teachers and students. So for the sake of the other party's hard work, Cai Ji decided to give a small encouragement to the young man in front of him, "It's good to study diligently, but Zihuan still needs to combine work and rest, don't hurt your body for studying." οΌ‚

"Wow. Cao Pi saw Cai Ji pouring tea again. I care about my body again, and I can't help but be secretly happy. I thought that this time I had finally done something that made Qi Hou happy. It is said that since the last time Cai Ji asked Xu Gan, a famous scholar in Beihai, to guide Cao Pi in his studies, Cao Pi was keenly aware that Cai Ji probably wanted him to become a literati who did not interfere in politics. In order to verify his guess, Cao Pi took the initiative to enter the lecture hall to study after arriving at Longkou. And actively assist You Heng in sorting out the books of the Zun Jing Pavilion. Of course, he still gets up early every day to practice martial arts for an hour to hone his martial arts. And the current reaction of Cai Ji undoubtedly proves that Cao Pi's previous judgment was right. Thinking that as long as he honestly studied knowledge in the lecture hall, Qi Hou would not embarrass himself, and Cao Pi's tense nerves finally relaxed a little.

Cai Ji saw Cao Pi with his head down, looking relieved. I couldn't help but smile bitterly. In fact, she herself doesn't want to trouble Cao Pi all day long. As long as Cao Pi is content with the status quo, Cai Ji doesn't mind putting the effort into cultivating him into an outstanding scholar. Thinking of this, Cai Ji asked Cao Pi curiously, "Zihuan, in your opinion, which school of martial arts is the most popular among students?" οΌ‚

"It's miscellaneous. Cao Pi replied without thinking. People in this era are accustomed to refer to studies other than metaphysics and Confucianism as miscellaneous studies. Arithmetic is miscellaneous. Medicine is miscellaneous, and physics and chemistry proposed by Cai Ji are also miscellaneous. And miscellaneous studies always appeal to young people more than the boring Confucian classics. I saw Cao Pi gesturing to Cai Ji with great interest, "The day before yesterday, Mr. Zhong Miao made two stone balls, one heavy and one light, according to what Qi Hou said. At the same time, it was thrown into the pool from the high pavilion. I never thought that the two balls really fell into the water at the same time! Ink science is so exquisite, it is no wonder that during the Warring States Period, Confucianism and ink can be called Xianxue. β€˜

Seeing that Cao Pi assigned physics to the Mo family, Cai Ji was both relieved and helpless. It is gratifying to know that science was embraced by the scholars of this era, without being hindered by religion as was the case in the European Middle Ages. In fact, even the most conservative scholars today do not dare to accuse the young Cai Ji lightly. Because Cai Ji owns the largest library in the Central Plains - Zun Jing Pavilion.

It must be known that at the end of the Han Dynasty, the information was backward, and the popularity of books was low, and Cai Yong, who had 4,000 books in his home, was already a great writer in the world. Cai Ji is more keen on collecting books than Cai Yong. There are more books in the Zun Jing Pavilion than in Luoyang Taixue back then. Therefore, even if Cai Ji herself is not knowledgeable, just one Zunjing Pavilion is enough for her to have a place in Shilin at the end of the Han Dynasty.

Unfortunately, because most of the previous accounts of physics came from the Mohist classic Mozi, the vast majority of teachers and students regarded physics as a branch of Moism. thought that Cai Ji had obtained a secret book from the Mo family in the process of collecting the world's classics. But Cai Ji doesn't think it's a good thing.

It is true that in the book "Mozi", Mo Zhai consciously and extensively used the method of logical deduction to establish or justify his own political and ethical thoughts. He was the first in the history of Chinese logic to put forward the idea that the name must be consistent with the truth, as well as the logical concepts of debate, class, and reason. However, Mo Zhai's epistemology also has great limitations, he ignores the role of rational cognition, and one-sidedly emphasizes the authenticity of sensory experience. Therefore, "Mohist logic" is only an "enlightenment system" rather than a "complete system".

For example, although the Mojing also mentions a specific measurement concept - quantity, Mohist scholars do not go further to elaborate on the specific operation theory of quantity, but give specific examples to directly assign the quantity standard to the connotation of the class through specific situations encountered in practice, that is to say, "'class' refers to the typical example of the word." For example, the "Ōtori" lists thirteen general judgments, all of which are accompanied by typical examples that are facts under the words "similar to those which are in." ”

Therefore, simply subsuming physical chemistry under the name of the Mohists is not only not conducive to future academic research, but also very easy to make the two disciplines fall into a meaningless dispute over Taoism due to the contradiction between the Mohists and Confucians.

In Cai Ji's view, physics is physics, and chemistry is chemistry. As the two natural sciences that study the laws of things, physics and chemistry are not classified into any of the existing theories. For the laws of nature are neither changed by morality nor by sophistry. Just like an apple will not fly into the sky just because a scholar is a gentleman, nor will it not fall to the ground because the other party is a villain. A physicist can be a Buddhist, a Christian, or even a Muslim. A chemist can also study metaphysics, Confucianism, and ink at the same time, as long as he is interested.

However, Cai Ji's current level is not enough to make physics and chemistry break away from the influence of Mohist Taoism and become an independent discipline. However, if there are external theories to corroborate it, the situation may be better. If it can be proved that the relevant theories are laws that are applicable all over the world, I believe that Shilin will no longer simply make physical and chemical things a unique doctrine of a certain school.

Thinking of this, Cai Ji made up her mind in her heart, and saw her raise her head and instruct Cao Pi, "Zihuan, tomorrow you will go to Cui Mansion with Gu." οΌ‚

"Whoa." After Cao Pi gave up his hand, he asked Cai Ji with some curiosity, "Qi Hou wants to ask Mr. Ji Qi for advice." ”

"Sort of." Cai Ji replied slightly vaguely, and handed her chestnut cake to Cao Pi and said, "You are growing up, eat more." οΌ‚

Cao Pi took the chestnut cake and took it first, and then as if he suddenly remembered something, he looked up and asked Cai Ji, who was about to get up and leave, "Qi Hou, can you take one more person tomorrow?" οΌ‚

Cai Ji stopped and said, "But Uncle He Ping? οΌ‚

"Definitely. Cao Pi shook his head.

"Oh? Who is that? Cai Ji asked with interest.

"Sun Yafu, a native of Jiaozhou. This person is very interested in miscellaneous studies. Although Cao Pi said quietly on the surface, he was a little uneasy in his heart. In fact, Cao Pi and Sun Yafu are not familiar with each other. The most conversations between the two were in the Pavilion of the Sacred Scriptures in July. But it was that contact that made Cao Pi feel that the man named Sun Yafu was by no means an idle person. In particular, this person's unscrupulous behavior of looking directly at Cai Ji made Cao Pida feel disgusted in his heart. So in the months that followed, Cao Pi secretly fell in love with Sun Yafu. And the more he observed, the more he felt that there was something wrong with the other party, and it was even possible that even "Sun Yafu" was just a pseudonym. It's a pity that Cao Pi currently has no conclusive evidence to prove his judgment. And if he reports directly to Cai Ji, he will inevitably be regarded as jealous of the other party at this time, which will only increase the laughing stock. So Cao Pi decided to do the opposite and recommend Sun Yafu to Cai Ji. Once this person gets close to Qi Hou, he will inevitably be investigated. At that time, whether it is loyalty or treachery will surely reveal the truth.

In the face of Cao Pi's words, Cai Ji thought about it sideways, and finally nodded in agreement.
