Chapter 013: Narcissa Malfoy
Chapter 013: Narcissa Malfoy
"Are you sure you're going to pick these?" Narcissa was amazed at how efficient she was.
"Pretty sure and sure!" Catherine smiled, her eyes looking directly at Narcissa, no matter how hinted the other person might be, not glancing at the material.
"Alright then!" Narcissa reluctantly led her away, "Let's try it." β
Then Catherine and Narcissa went to a separate room, and all the things she had just picked had been delivered.
By the time the lights were on, Catherine had finally tried them all out under Narcissa's critical eye.
"Oh, did you try it so quickly?" Narcissa looked at the gift box that had been packed and said in surprise, "I thought we would need to spend a week here, but I didn't expect it to be over in one day!" β
Catherine didn't dare to answer this sentence, but after looking at the time, she asked politely: "It's dinner time, is there anything to build on Mrs. Malfoy?" β
"Why don't you dine in the club's restaurant, where the grilled lamb chops and Cambridge soufflΓ© are still very famous." Narcissa thought for a moment and said.
"Absolutely."
They were then led to the dining room, where Catherine truly understood the Malfoys' position in the wizarding aristocracy.
All the wizards who were dining in the restaurant came to greet Narcissa, and even the head of the club made an excuse to "come to eat" and "drop by" to welcome them to the best spot in the restaurant.
But to Catherine's surprise, these people actually used all kinds of excuses to find out her identity, and Narcissa simply introduced that she was a freshman living in the Snape house temporarily, but everyone who heard the news showed a look of horror and shock.
"Isn't Professor Snape famous?" It was only after the soup came that Catherine asked her doubts about it.
"You have to know that Hogwarts is the cradle of English wizardry." Narcissa replied proudly, "And Severus, on his first day as a professor, was named the strictest professor Hogwarts has ever seen!" β
"But they don't have to be like that......" Catherine pondered for a moment, "be shocked! β
"Do you know how many women lived in the Severus family before you?" Narcissa looked down at her slightly.
Catherine shook her head.
"There is only one," Narcissa held up a finger, "his mother, Miss Erin Prince!" β
"Princeβ"
"A potions family with a long history. Severus's mother, Miss Eileen Prince, was the last heir to the family. Narcissa's tone was complicated, "But due to some accident, she ran away from home, and it wasn't until Severus was sorted into Slytherin that her father learned of her whereabouts, but she died of an accident before he could find her." Lady Malfoy's face appeared with pity, "And from then on, Severus's behavior would have been even more withdrawn, if not for the girl who had enlightened him." β
"That girlβ" Catherine asked, confused.
"His only true love," Narcissa's tone became complicated again, "was married to the man he hated most, and ended up dying at his hands." β
"This ......," Catherine was speechless in surprise.
"They were Hogwarts outliers at the time, and they had tried to protect their friendship, but in the end they were no match for the millennia feud between Slytherin and Gryffindor." Narcissa sighed, "And since they broke up, Severus hasn't paid any attention to the opposite sex. β
"So," Catherine was silent for a moment, "that's why they're so shocked that I'm staying at Professor Snape's house!" β
"Yes!" Narcissa gave a wry smile.
"That's why you're so good to me?" Catherine asked, "Lady Malfoy!" β
"That's just one of the reasons," Narcissa's face added an expression of appreciation, "I trust my husband, and my husband trusts Severus. β
"And what about the others?"
"Becauseβ" Narcissa lowered her head slightly, her face taut from arrogance suddenly relaxed, and her tone softened, "I really want a daughter. β
Catherine finally couldn't hide her surprise in time.
"When I was a kid, I wished I could have a daughter." Seeing Catherine's undisguised surprise, Narcissa smiled pleasantly, "It's a pity that the Malfoy family has only one heir, and as for my family," Narcissa paused for a long moment before continuing, "Except for my second sister, who was expelled from the family, no one else has any children. β
"So after my husband became friends with Severus, I always hoped that he would have a daughter as soon as possible, so that I could bring her over as my own daughter, who knew that this guy's private life was so clean!" Narcissa clenched her fists with an indignant expression.
Catherine really didn't know how to take the subject, and could only smile with obvious embarrassment.
"Luckily! You've shown up! I don't know if you'd like to-" Narcissa suddenly took her hand, "what about being my daughter?" β
"Mrs. Malfoy!" Catherine smiled and shook her hand, "It would be a great honor for me to be your daughter - but, I'm so sorry. β
"Why?" Narcissa asked.
"Because I'm an orphan," Catherine said with a laugh, "I don't want to cause you trouble." β
Narcissa didn't say anything more, but looked at Catherine quietly, and did not speak again until she was sure that the other party's decision would not change again.
"Okay!" Narcissa raised her head and said in an arrogant tone again, "You can refuse to be my daughter, but you can't refuse me to take care of you like your mother." β
Catherine was stunned for a while before she shook her head with a wry smile and said, "I really can't refuse." β
"It's dinner time!" Narcissa had a triumphant look on her face.
"Yes! Mrs. Malfoy! Catherine obediently picked up the utensils and began their dinner with Narcissa.
"I thought you'd be back in a week!" Seeing Catherine, who had been sent back by Narcissa, Snape's tone was unusually surprised.
"Mrs. Malfoy is very 'efficient' today." Catherine smiled, but this smile was very awkward no matter how you looked at it.
"If that's true, then I should be able to stop helping her husband prepare a refreshing potion."
Catherine's smile finally returned to normal.
Snape glared at her, bowed his head and went about his business until Catherine suddenly said something.
"Mrs. Malfoy wants me to be her daughter."
"And then?" Snape looked up and asked in an unkind tone.
"I refused."
"It seems that you haven't been dazzled by those hypocritical exuberances." Snape said coldly, "If you want to live in peace, you'd better stay away from the idiot aristocracy, especially the Malfoys. β
"I'll tell Mrs. SΓΉ Malfoy later that I can't attend her afternoon tea party tomorrow."
Snape snorted coldly, ready to continue his work, but was interrupted by Catherine again.
"Professor," Catherine didn't seem to realize that Snape's anger was soaring, "what am I going to do for the remaining six days?" β
This question successfully stopped Snape's outburst of anger, and he was silent for a moment before saying, "Tomorrow I will find someone to take you to the wizarding world." Now, it's time for you to go to bed! β
"Okay, Professor!" Catherine gave him a sweet smile and went back to her room.
"So early?" Lucius looked up at his wife in surprise.
"yes!" Narcissa said as she took off her coat, "Catherine is so fast, it's been bought in less than a day." β
"Less than a day!" Lucius looked at his wife in surprise, "Then she is indeed very fast!" β
"Humph!" Narcissa glared at her husband before changing the subject, "I've been with her for almost a whole day, but I don't see at all that she has what you commented on last time, it's exactly an 11-year-old girl. β
"Are you sure we're talking about the same person?" Lucius narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Of course!" Narcissa walked over and sat in her husband's arms, "I asked her if she wanted to be my daughter." β
"How did she answer," Lucius asked, putting his arm around his wife's waist, his tone less confident than before, "yes?" β
"No," said Narcissa regretfully, "she said she didn't want to trouble me! β
"Clever girl!"
"Of course she's smart!" Narcissa looked at her husband squarely, "I wish Draco could be her friend." β
"You're not kidding, are you?" Lucius stared into his wife's eyes.
"You and I both know," Narcissa said earnestly, "that Draco has received too much love, including Severus spoiling him. β
"Hmmβ" Lucius replied after a moment's thought, "I'll give him a chance." β
"Master, Mr. Snape is here!" Suddenly, the voice of a house-elf sounded outside the door.
"Maybe it's an opportunity." Narcissa said to her husband silently.
Lucius smiled and kissed his wife's cheek before getting up and leaving the room.
"What's wrong? Severus! Lucius was somewhat surprised to find that Snape, who had always been like a block of ice, was actually a little restless.
"I need someone who can introduce Catherine to the wizarding world." The week before school was the busiest time for Snape, otherwise he wouldn't have found someone else to help, and if it weren't for the fact that there weren't many people he could trust, he wouldn't have turned to Lucius for help.
"Huh!" Lucius really couldn't help but sigh, he just felt drowsy and caught up with someone to deliver a pillow, "I have a very suitable candidate." β
"The person Professor Snape said was the one who took me to the wizarding worldβ" Catherine looked at the boy who had appeared in the house early in the morning, "Master Draco!" β
"What's the problem? Miss Catherine! Drascience looked like his father and looked up at the girl in front of him arrogantly.
"Of course notβ" I was just thinking of your godfather's warning to me last night. Catherine mentally added, "So, where do we go now?" β
