Chapter 039: Quidditch Duel
Chapter 039: Quidditch Duel
"Does Draco know about Potter?" Ixissi interjected.
Draco and Catherine looked at each other with a mysterious smile.
"Let's go, then!" Ixissi said Flint immediately led Blech, Bol and Draco onto the pitch with his head held high.
In the middle of the pitch, Wood was waiting with Mrs. Hodge with Harry, Fred, and Angelina Johnson, the chaser.
After discovering that one of Slytherin's players was the new Draco, who was the Seeker, those who knew Catherine well immediately realized that something was wrong, and Hermione and Ron immediately looked around for the red-haired girl, while Percy ran straight into the field.
Soon after, Flint came running back in a huff and said to Ixissi, "Weasley demanded that the duel be played exactly as it would be in the official game, because the stakes were too high. β
"It was indeed my mistake!" Looking at Hermione and Ron, who were running towards her in a rage, Catherine muttered, "They know my style too well!" β
"What about the backup plan?" Ixesy asked with an unchanged expression.
"I'll be the goalkeeper." With that, Catherine ran to the locker room, changed into her jersey, and hurried back to the pitch, where the rest of the two teams were already flying over the pitch waiting.
"Catherine!" Blake ran to the entrance of the stadium with his "Halo 2001" and "Use my broom!" β
"No way!" Catherine yelled and ran past Blech, "I'm not familiar with it!" β
"And what do you use?" Bletch asked aloud, and a strong wind whistling past him answered his doubts, it was Catherine's "Light Wheel 2000", which she summoned from the dormitory with a flying charm.
When the "Halo 2000" rushed to her master's side, Catherine reached out and pressed the broomstick handle, flew down on it, and then rushed straight into the Gryffindor team, disrupting their formation, and then turned horizontally, using the remaining momentum to stay firmly in the empty space reserved for her by Flint's side.
"Wow!" The Slytherin audience erupted in cheers, and Gryffindor responded with a boo.
"Sorry, it's late." Catherine smiled at Flint.
"Not at all!" Seeing the Gryffindors angry with Catherine, Flint laughed happily.
"The duel begins!" At Mrs. Hodge's order, the players of the two teams immediately dispersed to their respective positions, leaving only six chasers to remain near her and wait to serve.
"Huh! Slytherin had two positions to change this time, with Draco Malfoy as the new Seeker and Catherine as the goalkeeper after Harry Potter claimed that she was not sure of victory. "Since the content of the duel has been formalized, it is only natural that the enthusiastic Lee Jordan broadcaster is indispensable.
"While these two positions won't affect the team's coordination, since the stake is a one-year use of the stadium, then these two should be key to Slytherin's victory, and it is rumored that Malfoy received secret training from Catherine during the summer and does not know ......"
"Jordan!" It was Professor McGonagall who stopped him from going off-topic, "Commentary competition!" Her shouts of rage echoed through the microphone throughout the stadium.
"I'm sorry, Professor. With Gryffindor's Angelina Johnson on the ball in hand, it's clear that Slytherin is still weak in possession. Lee Jordan didn't say three words, and began to favor his own house again, "Now is the time to test Catherine's goalkeeping skills - wow! Wow! Wow! Look at the Slytherin goalβ" he suddenly cried out, "Catherine is on her broom! β
"Huh!" Everyone on the pitch looked over en masse, including the chasers who were in fierce pursuit, and they were all stunned when they saw the tiny figure.
Catherine was, indeed, as Lee Jordan had said, with her hands behind her back and her feet together on the broomstick handle, like a general patrolling the army.
Considering that there are more than three numbers of players falling from a broomstick at a Quidditch match every year, and every player has had at least one free-fall experience, the first thing a Quidditch player learns is to hold the broom firmly under him.
As for standing on a broomstick and other handsome moves, it is definitely the most brain-dead behavior in the game, Harry would not have done such a dangerous move last year if it wasn't for the golden snitch, and Catherine, as a goalkeeper now, deliberately does forbidden things.
"Merlin!" The audience all stood up, nervously watching the red-haired girl.
Catherine ignored the shock of the crowd, and while they were stunned, she pressed her toes, and the broom rushed to Angelina, who had seen such a battle and was too frightened to rush, so she could only avoid the side, and Catherine took advantage of the situation to scoop up the Quaffle and threw it to Flint.
As soon as Flint saw the Devil's Flying Ball fall into his arms, he didn't care about reprimanding the red-haired girl's audacity, and turned directly to Gryffindor's goal.
Catherine smiled brightly at Fred, and slowly flicked her right hand in the direction where the Bludger was flying, and the Bludger actually turned around and flew towards Angelina, who had just left her side.
"Angelina, go to the right!" Fred shouted in horror, Angelina obediently did so, and the Bludger narrowly brushed her hair, and if she didn't move, she would have been smashed to the back of the head and exited.
But Catherine's strength was just right, and as soon as the Bludger grazed Angelina's side, it lost its momentum, and in order to attack closely, it immediately entangled the chaser, and Fred had to rush to the rescue.
Without two blocks, Slytherin broke through Gryffindor's goal very lightly, scored the first goal and won ten points first, Harry suddenly found that the burden on his body was very heavy, and his team members were afraid that they would not be able to break through the goal guarded by Catherine, and they had to catch the Golden Snitch to win the duel.
The next situation developed exactly as Harry "expected", Angelina, Arya Spinnett and Katie Bell were unable to break through the Slytherin defense on their own, and once the Bludger flew near the goal, Catherine was immediately turned into a tool to control the chaser's actions, and Fred and George racked their brains to find a way to crack it.
Few of the Gryffindors had managed to do so, and they struggled to get the Quaffle, which they managed to get to the Slytherin goal, only to be intercepted by Catherine in succession, as if they were facing a mountain rather than a twelve-year-old girl.
The match was a very dangerous and amazing performance, she completely abandoned the traditional way of goalkeeping, and the "Halo 2000" was no longer a necessary flying prop, but a stepping platform between her three door rings, in which she shuttled like a bewitching butterfly.
This is very exhausting, so Catherine always tries to disrupt the opponent's attack, but the quick game will inevitably be missed, so every Gryffindor shot is a huge test for the hearts of the spectators, on the one hand, they are very much looking forward to her more exciting performances, and on the other hand, they are worried about her safety.
It was even more of an ordeal for the Gryffindor students, who desperately hoped that Catherine's mistake would give their team a "zero breakthrough", but they couldn't help but applaud her loudly every time she made a successful interception.
The only one in Gryffindor who didn't feel worried was the first-year boy who was so fascinated by Harry, Colin Creevey, who held his camera and tried desperately to capture Catherine's figure, almost jumping out of the railing several times, but he didn't care.
Eventually, the Golden Snitch showed up and the game entered the final sprint, at which point the score of the two teams was 140:0, and Gryffindor had to rely solely on Harry to win, which distracted most of the team from the two boys who were entangled.
Catherine ignored them, took a deep breath, lifted the Quaffle she had just intercepted above her head, and threw it diagonally upwards with all her strength.
The Quaffle flew over the midfielder's head quickly and landed less than 30 feet from the goal, and Wood rushed out in shock, but Flint flew to the spot where the Quaffle landed and kicked it hard at the goal.
"Ding!" The scorer automatically sounded - 150:0.
With no hope of winning for Gryffindor, Wood hurriedly summoned his team back to defense, and now he could only hope that Harry would catch the Golden Snitch and draw Slytherin, otherwise Gryffindor would probably not be able to win this year's Quidditch trophy.
Seeing everyone else gathered in front of the Gryffindor goal, Catherine simply stood above the Slytherin hoop and watched the duel between Draco and Harry with her head held high.
As Catherine said before the game, Harry didn't know anything about Draco, but Draco was very familiar with Harry's every move, because during the summer training, Catherine not only imitated Harry's behavior, but even put on the Gryffindor Quidditch team uniform, turned her hair black, and finally extracted Harry's memories of the flight for Draco to study carefully.
So when the two of them chased the Golden Snitch, Harry felt very uncomfortable and awkward, he didn't understand why Draco could always force himself to change his choice so easily, if he wasn't more familiar with the performance of broomsticks, he would have been left behind by the other party.
When they were less than five feet away from the Golden Snitch, both boys reached out and leaned forward with all their might, trying to grab the cunning little creature faster than the other.
The crowd clenched their hands and nervously followed them, and Catherine's expression became a little uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen, except for Gryffindor, who was still nervously snatching possession in front of goal.
Suddenly, a Bludger emerged from that corner and slammed into Harry's broomstick-holding arm, a burning pain and a powerful force that slammed him into Draco.
