Chapter 073: Breaking Through (Part II)
Chapter 073 Breaking Through (Part II)
"It's really wizard chess!" Draco stared in shock at the 10-foot-tall black and white chess pieces around him.
"Catherine, should we replace those pawns?" Harry asked, walking over to the giant chessboard.
"I don't want to start a chess game if I can!" As soon as Catherine's words fell, the pieces in the abandoned pit on either side of her came to life in an instant, and they grabbed the weapons beside them and crawled towards her.
"Damn it!" Catherine immediately ran to the chessboard, "Hermione, you take the place of the king, Harry, you take the place of the knight, Draco, you take the place of the bishop!" As soon as she had finished her order, the king, a bishop, and a knight walked out of the board with their backs to white, leaving three empty seats for them.
"What about you?" Draco asked, stepping over to the bishop's place.
"If you don't mind," Catherine walked up to the queen, "I want to take your place!" β
The Black Queen simply solemnly handed Catherine the sword in her hand and turned away.
"That's it! Right now! Catherine looked at the white pawn who had moved forward two squares, raised the sword in her hand that was two heads higher than hers, and smiled brightly, "I'm going to give you a good beating!" β
Catherine was visibly angry, as she could see how unhappy she was with being forced to play chess by smashing every white piece that came across her, so that in the end white was left alone with the king, and the price paid by black was that all but four of them died.
How could the commander of the light pole turn defeat into victory, and after a while, the White King took off the crown on his head and threw it at Catherine's feet to surrender, but the girl was obviously still angry, she smashed the sword into the White King's head very fiercely, if it wasn't for the other three to stop it, she definitely wouldn't mind splitting the other party in half.
"Alright," Catherine clapped her hands and sat on the ground, "there should be nothing stopping us from resting here now." Only then did the other three understand why she was so crazy.
But just as they were about to sit down and rest like her, the board suddenly shook violently, and two rows of square pits suddenly appeared in the position of the black pieces, and then two new rows of black pieces slowly stretched up from the ground.
"I also have a bad feeling now!" Hermione said with a bitter face.
"What nonsense are you talking about, run!" Catherine shouted, jumped up from the ground and ran towards the exit of the room, her movements acting as a signal for the two rows of black pieces to raise their weapons in order.
"Ahh The four children screamed and scrambled out the door, only to stop when they reached the middle of the hallway.
"I guess they won't be able to chase them in!" Hermione gasped and looked back at the door, only to find that there was an extra black cobblestone.
"Rolling Stones?" Draco didn't know why, "But this corridor isn't a slope!" β
"Do you understand billiards?" Catherine grabbed his arm and pulled him forward quickly, "They just need to hit that rock with a lot of force!" β
As if to confirm Catherine's words, there was a loud crash behind them, followed by the grunt of rolling stones.
No one looked back, no one spoke, and they all ran towards the exit of the hallway with all their might.
"Get in!" Hermione yelled and pushed the door open, a disgusting stench coming over her nose.
"Get out of the way!" Catherine shouted, lifted her clothes to cover her nose, and rushed in first.
But the expected attack did not come, and the troll guarding the area had already been hit, and it was lying motionless on the floor with a large bloody lump on its head.
"Let's go! I couldn't breathe. Without hesitation, Draco stepped over the troll and pulled open the next door, and the other three rushed in right behind.
"Coax!" After they all entered the room, two flames erupted from the entrance and exit of the room, the difference was that the flame blocking the entrance was purple and the exit was black.
There was only a table in the center of the room, on which were lined up seven bottles of different shapes, and a roll of parchment.
"Snape's logical reasoning!" Harry reached for the parchment roll, but Catherine grabbed his wrist.
"Do you have to go down?" Catherine glared at him in displeasure.
"We've all gotten through the other professors, and if we get through GuΓ² again, we'll be left with Dumbledore," Harry said excitedly, "The Philosopher's Stone will definitely be hidden there." β
"It also meansβ" Catherine paused, "the mystery man is in there, too!" β
The others suddenly realized that they were only a fire away from Voldemort.
Glancing at Hermione, who suddenly fell into fear, and Draco, who became panicked, Harry looked at Catherine and said categorically, "I must stop him!" β
"Okay!" Catherine let go of her hand, "This is destined to be your fate. β
Harry stared at Catherine for a moment, then opened the parchment roll and began to read.
Danger is in sight, safety is in the rear.
Two of us can help you.
Drink them down, and one will lead you forward,
The other sends you back to where you came from.
Two of them are filled with nettle wine.
Three are killers and are waiting in line.
Choose, unless you want to be here forever.
We also provide four clues to help you choose:
First, no matter how cunning the poison may hide,
In fact, they all stand to the left of the nettle wine;
Second, the contents of the bottle at the left and right ends are not thoughtful.
None of them will work for you if you want to move forward;
Thirdly, you will find that the bottles vary in size.
There is no hiding of death in giants and gnomes;
Fourth, second on the left and second on the right,
Although the appearance is different, the taste is the same.
Catherine pondered for a moment, then suddenly picked up the smallest of them, and she carefully opened the cap, sniffed it gently, and tasted it with her fingernails.
When she had finished tasting it, Hermione suddenly walked up to her, picked up the bottle in her hand, and began to repeat her movements, while Catherine began to rummage through her pockets for something.
When Catherine pulled Snape's birthday present from her pocket, Draco walked up to Hermione and repeated the two girls' movements, while Hermione approached Catherine and helped her find potions materials.
"What are you doing?" Harry walked over puzzled, "Have you solved this logical reasoning?" β
"Of course!" Draco shoved the vial to Harry, "This vial is the antidote." β
"It?" Harry stared at the small bottle in his hand in disbelief, he shook it, turned it all over again, and waited for a while before a small black droplet fell from the bottle, "Why is it gone?" β
"There's less than a small bite left of it!" Hermione didn't look up and said, "I only remember its materials, which of you remember how it was made." She looked at Catherine and Draco.
"I've seen it done, but I haven't done it yet." Catherine frowned, "What about you, Draco?" β
"I did, but," Draco frowned, "I felt a little wrong when I tried the potion, it seemed like something had been added to it." β
"Think about the characteristics of the previous levels." Catherine sneered, "'Forcing you forward, blocking your retreat. So it's not surprising that the dean moved his hands and feet in the potion. β
"Alright, let's get started. Harry! Hermione glanced up at him, but didn't stop busy, "Come over and help." β
Harry hurried over and worked with Hermione on Catherine's instructions, while Draco was in charge of boiling the potions. With the help of the other three, Draco was finally able to complete in an hour, an antidote that would have taken close to three hours to complete.
"Catherine, you said if the Dean saw it, would he give me a 'P'?" Draco stared at the black potion in the cauldron in fascination, "You know, I did it in a hurry. β
"At best, it can only be counted as 'O+'!" Catherine took out the cup of potion, "You should know that the 'P' standard is that you are not allowed to copy the textbook. β
Draco immediately lowered his head, and the two Gryffindors gasped.
"Is Snape so strict?" Harry asked, and the two Slytherins nodded solemnly.
"No wonder I don't get good grades!" Hermione clenched her fists with an indignant expression.
"Even if you do," Draco poured the rest of the potion into the bottle, "you'll get the 'O' because you're a Gryffindor." β
"Alright, stop talking nonsense!" Catherine raised her voice, "Draco, you stay and pack your thingsβ"
"Wait a minute!" Draco immediately interrupted her, "Why did you let me stay. β
"It's simple," replied Catherine, "that Harry and Hermione's position has long been predestined, and my situation, though a little different from reality, is not much different, but you are different! Her expression darkened.
"We don't know how many people there are, but anyway, with our strength, there is a good chance that we will prevent the other party from getting the Philosopher's Stone, but the possibility of wanting to keep the other party is zero, and as long as one person leaves, it will bring you endless trouble, becauseβ" Catherine said in a deep voice, "'Slytherin will never ignore your loved ones unless they ignore you first!'" ββ
Harry and Hermione were stunned, they only remembered Draco's father's identity now, but they couldn't equate Draco with his father, who had long since become a Death Eater.
Draco was stunned for a moment, then smiled, "On my birthday, my father told me that the future of the Malfoy family was in my hands, so he told me to start choosing the path I wanted to take. β
"What do you choose?" Harry and Hermione asked immediately.
"I'd like to go in and see for myself," Draco looked directly at Catherine, "what kind of existence is the Dark Lord who made my father's eyes bow down?" β
Catherine didn't agree or disagree, she just said calmly, "Slytherin never regrets the choice she madeβ"
"- will only make up for the loss of choice!" Draco smiled and continued.
"So!" Catherine smiled and glanced at everyone present, "Hurry up and pack up, and get ready to protect your things, we're going to fight next!" β
