Chapter 019: Riddle's Diary
Chapter 019: T. Riddle's Notebook
So every time she met with Lucius, Catherine was in good spirits, carefully walking on thin ice every step, but the asymmetry of information still made her lose the lead, but fortunately, Harry's accident allowed things to get out of the other party's control.
Catherine saw a hint of temptation on the day of the hunt, so she hid a trick, but Lucius cracked it lightly, which made her wary and immediately consulted Snape.
But Dumbledore's summons interrupted the rare exchange, for Catherine knew very well how much Snape hated her contact with Lucius, even though she was already very familiar with the other two members of the Malfoy family, even if he had to use a method that was very unorthodox to Slytherin-style - concealment.
Later, due to her participation in Dumbledore's "Savior Formation Project", Catherine did not have time to get to know Lucius again, until after attending the funeral of the Black family, Snape had to take her to live in Malfoy Manor.
Here, Catherine saw Lucius's other faces, her love for his wife, and her hatred of his enemies, which seemed to be no different from ordinary people, and because of Snape's existence, she did not dare to reveal her purpose, otherwise the unsympathetic professor would definitely throw her back to Spider's Tail Alley, and locked her in and couldn't go out until the end of the summer vacation, so she could only turn a blind eye to Lucius and meet her by chance yesterday.
With such a rare opportunity, Catherine didn't care about Harry and Draco present, and directly communicated with Lucius.
Fortunately, Lucius's mood had already been made very irritable by Arthur, otherwise he would definitely have learned from Snape to laugh at her rare impatience.
The exchange was short, but it was enough to show the purpose of both sides, but it also brought a hint of hidden danger to Catherine, a crisis of confidence between Harry and Snape.
Harry, who was still young, was easily distracted by her, but Snape was a very shrewd and stubborn Slytherin, and gaining his understanding was like planning a war.
Thankfully, Lucius had provided her with a prop to distract Snape, and although he wasn't meant to do so, Catherine felt it should be used more here.
What Catherine didn't expect was that it was actually Voldemort's thing, since it involved this adult, she could only spread it out completely, who knew that she could actually enjoy an educational course within the Malfoy family.
She knew that Lucius must be mad, and it was only because of Snape's presence that she had to find an excuse to disguise that he was trying to teach her a lesson, so Catherine had to turn over one of her hole cards, but it worked out to her surprise.
Catherine almost exclaimed in surprise that Lucius would lose control, but then she regained her composure and carefully observed his rare truth.
Surprise, nostalgia, pride, confusion, appreciation, fear, impatience, anger and disbelief.
Catherine could roughly guess why, but "nostalgia" surprised and puzzled her, she couldn't understand how she could cause Lucius to miss her, especially since this kind of love was actually in second place.
Catherine was deep in thought, and Tracey was naturally too lazy to maintain her illusion, and as soon as it changed back to its original form, the black branch on the floor naturally disappeared, and the rose on the ring was automatically hidden, and she no longer blocked her left hand.
Even though it was just a ring with leaves entwined, the three Slytherins who were familiar with the family history of the wizarding world immediately knew its origin, and the three who answered the doubts in their hearts naturally looked up, only to find that the atmosphere between Catherine and Lucius was a little strange.
"Lucius!" Snape's tone was very displeased, as he clearly remembered that Catherine had only the ring he had given her on her left hand before she went to Diagon Alley yesterday, "Do you want to continue?" β
βNo!β Lucius put away his affection and said with an ugly face, "So, Miss Catherine, what do you want to talk about?" β
The other three didn't think there was anything wrong with Lucius's ugly face, after all, he lost the competition just now, and the ninth-order strength was angry with a blow, and he was actually broken by a seventh-order consummation, so it was strange that his face would not become ugly.
Although Catherine knew the real reason, the temptation between them had a rare upper hand, and how could she tell it to attract Snape's scolding, she naturally followed Lucius's topic, and took out the diary with a stern face.
"How could it be with you!" It was Narcissa who screamed, and she immediately looked at Lucius, and immediately understood something, "Is itβ"
"I did take it from her." Catherine admitted her guess.
Narcissa immediately glared at her husband, while Lucius asked with a blank face, "What conditions do you have?" β
"There is indeed one," said Catherine with a smile, "I studied it for a long time last night, and found that he clearly did not write in any of the Muggle languages, and this morning I consulted with Professor Snape and learned that the Malfoys have the most complete collection of languages in the wizarding world, so I wonder what exactly he has recorded?" β
"Miss Catherine!" Lucius and Narcissa were confused, "Before May of this year, I never saw a letter on it, except for the signature on the title page. β
"And what about after May?" Draco couldn't help but speak.
"It's actually a magic prop," Narcissa's face turned super ugly, "it can answer the writer's questions, and even tempt the writer to do some ......" She didn't say any more, but it was obviously not a good thing.
"I didn't feel the slightest bit of magic on it except when I first discovered it," Catherine winked innocently, "If it weren't for its author and Mr. Malfoy's actions, I would have thought it was just a diary from the Muggle world." β
"Are you talking about the same thing?" Draco stared blankly back and forth at his parents and Catherine.
"Just open it and look at it." Snape opened the journal, and the Malfoys froze, and Narcissa even snatched it in her hand and flipped it through quickly, but it was exactly as Catherine had said.
"What did you do with it?" Lucius asked in horror if he hadn't been familiar with Voldemort's handwriting, he would have thought Catherine had made a fake to fool him.
"That's what it looks like as soon as I open it." Catherine said innocently.
"Are you sure?" Narcissa asked.
Catherine nodded firmly.
"O Merlin! What the hell is going on? Narcissa suddenly fell to the ground, "If he finds this thing like this, then, Lucius, we-"
Lucius didn't speak, just lifted his wife up and put her in a chair and pressed his son's shoulder, causing the terrified Draco to no longer tremble helplessly.
"Soβ" Snape reminded with a frown, "can you figure out what's in there?" β
"Do you think he speaks any other language besides snake language?" Lucius glared at Catherine through gritted teeth, "And who else in the wizarding world can understand snake language besides the snake man?" β
"Please don't stare at me like that! Mr. Malfoy! I didn't mean to make things this way. Butβ" said Catherine smiled, "I've discovered the rules of snake language. β
"What!" The other four exclaimed in unison, Narcissa jumped straight out of her chair, and Draco ran up to Catherine and shook her shoulder, "Is that true?" β
"Of course!" Catherine pressed Draco's hands hard, she really didn't expect the young master to burst out with such strength.
"What pattern?" Snape reached for Draco and tossed him back to Narcissa.
"It's not something that can be said in a few words." Catherine took out a thick stack of drafts, "This diary uses two ways of writing, the first one is only written in English to record the pronunciation of snake language, which accounts for about one-third of the entire diary, and the rest is a very regular writing style, which should be the real way of writing snake language." From this I came to the conclusion that when he first entered the school, he should only be able to speak and write later, which means that there is a record of snake language in Slytherin. β
The three older Slytherins all had strange expressions on their faces.
"Is there really one?" Draco looked nervously at his elders, "Where?" β
"In the secret conference room of the hunting party." Narcissa pursed her lips and said, "There's a 'Slytherin Motto' written in the language of snakes. β
"Isn't there an English version of the 'Slytherin Sayings'?" Catherine looked at Snape.
"It's useless, after thousands of years of word of mouth, there have been many versions," said Snape after a pause, "and that's just what I recorded according to my mother's dictation." β
"No one knows what the original version was except for Salazar Slytherin's descendants," Lucius sighed as he looked up at the window, "and then people always liked to add their own understandings, which made the original version of the Slytherin Sayings even more plain and confusing." β
"Don't you even have a key?" Draco looked back and forth at the three adults.
But they all shook their heads.
"It's so damnable!" Catherine slapped the table angrily, "Just a kick in the door!" β
The others were surprised by Catherine's rare anger when an explosion rang out at the door of the room.
"Master, Mr. Borgin has arrived." Dobby said respectfully bowing his head.
"So early!" Lucius frowned, and turned to look at Snape.
Dobby looked up at Lucius's face, but inadvertently skimmed the black diary, and then his big eyes showed irrepressible horror,
"I'm going to stay a little longer." Snape looked at Draco.
Lucius nodded, then turned to leave the room, and Dobby hurriedly ran to open the door.
"Draco!" Snape then called his godson to his side to help him consolidate the magic of the forced breakthrough.
"Dobbyβ" As the door closed, Catherine asked Narcissa in a sudden whisper.
"It was he who discovered the anomaly in this journal and told me in time," Narcissa replied in a whisper, "or Lucius ......" She covered her mouth and closed her eyes, her body trembling violently, but she didn't make any sound, obviously not wanting her son to find out.
