Chapter 005 Catherine Prince
Chapter 005: Catherine Princes
As an orphan, Catherine also fantasized about the day when she would find her parents, but there were too few clues about her background, and she couldn't remember her parents at all, so she didn't have any confidence in whether she could find her own background.
When she received the letter from Hogwarts, Catherine would not have wasted time writing a reply if she hadn't been in a hurry to go to the hospital with a hint of illness, and Snape's arrival made her discover that the wizarding world existed at the same time, but also made her look forward to it, maybe her parents were wizards.
But she didn't expect Snape to suddenly put a possibility in front of her, and the color of her hair and eyes, as well as the time she had been in the orphanage, was exactly the same as the girl named "Katherine Potter" that Snape had told us.
"The reason I'm called that," Catherine looked down at the floor like a dream, "is because the clothes I wore on the day I entered the orphanage had the nickname 'Catherine' embroidered on them." β
This time it was Snape's turn to froze, but he wasn't surprised for long, for from the first sight of Catherine, he had already suspected that she might be Lily's missing daughter.
"What are you going to do now?" Snape asked softly.
"I'd like to start with a question." Catherine hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"What's the problem?"
"Why, why didn't Harry Potter find it strange?" Catherine looked at Snape in a nervous tone.
"He doesn't know the existence of 'Catherine,'" Snape said in an unkind tone, "Dumbledore doesn't think he should tell him the news until it's confirmed that she's indeed dead." β
Catherine stopped talking, she understood why the headmaster named Dumbledore did this, sometimes she could live happier without knowing the truth, and it seemed that she should not tell the boy about this possibility until she found more direct evidence of her origins.
There was a knock on the door, and Catherine immediately put away her thoughts and returned to a smiling countenance, which made Snape look complicated.
It was the goblin named Ra Ring who came in, and he was followed by a small cart with hundreds of coins piled on it.
"Miss Catherine, this is 10,000 pounds of magic coins, please count them." Said the pull ring.
Catherine looked at the pile of coins on the cart and asked in a somewhat difficult tone, "Isn't there any banknotes in the wizarding world?" β
"Yes!" It is obviously not the first time that Ra Ring has encountered such a situation, "the gold coin is Galleon, the silver coin is sico, and the copper coin is nat, one Galleon is equal to seventeen sico, and one sike is equal to twenty-nine naut." β
"There's no way I'm going to go shopping with so many magic coins." Catherine frowned.
"Give me your tote bag." Snape let go of his left hand and took Catherine's tote bag.
Snape cast a spell on the handbag with his wand, then pointed at the cart and the coins flew into the bag.
"What kind of spell is this?" Catherine took the tote bag and found that its appearance and weight had not changed at all, as if it had just not contained a few thousand coins.
"Stretch Without a Trace." Snape took the girl's hand and left the lounge.
As they walked out of the gates of Gringotts, Catherine caught a glimpse of Hagrid, who was standing outside a shop pΓΉ, offering the ice cream in his hand to Harry, who had just walked out of the shop.
Catherine watched them eat through the crowd and into another shop before she withdrew her gaze and asked, "What are we going to buy first?" β
"Robes." Snape led her into Harry's freshly exited shop, Lady Morkin's robes store.
Madame Morkin was talking to a wizard dressed in a delicate robe with long platinum-blond hair, and beside him stood a pale boy of the same color.
"Godfather!" As soon as he saw Snape, the boy exclaimed, "Why are you here?" Then he looked at Snape taking the girl's hand, and Catherine saw a deep envy flash in his gray eyes.
"Severus, I didn't expect to meet you here." The long-haired wizard turned around and greeted Snape with a tone of surprise in his arrogance, he looked much like the boy, with the same pale pointed face and the same gray eyes, "Well, this one is ......"
"Catherine Prince." Snape said coldly, not expressing any joy at their meeting.
"Catherine, well, the same name as her daughter, the same color of hair, andβ" The wizard bowed his head in surprise, "brown eyes! Severus, where did you find her? β
"Lucius, she's a new student at Hogwarts." Snape's cold voice hinted at a hint of warning.
"Oh, that means - she's eleven too!" The wizard didn't seem to notice the warning in Snape's tone, and he still looked at Catherine with an evaluative eye, "She really looks like her." β
Catherine didn't speak, just smiled and looked at the wizard in front of her with the same gaze, as if he hadn't been talking to Snape about herself.
"I'm Lucius Malfoy, and this is my son, Draco Malfoy." Mr. Malfoy abruptly changed his impudent tone, "He's a Hogwarts freshman just like you. β
"Hello, Draco." Catherine smiled and held out her hand.
"Hello, Catherine." The boy shook her awkwardly.
"Well, it's time for us to go to Narcissa, and take our leave, Severus, and you, Catherine." Mr. Malfoy cocked his head arrogantly and said, "Draco, don't say goodbye to your godfather yet. β
"Goodbye, Godfather." The boy followed his father out.
Madame Morkin came to greet them, and Catherine stood on the footstool and looked at Mr. Malfoy and his son, who had not gone far, as they seemed to be discussing a subject concerning her, as the boy named Draco was looking back at her from time to time.
"A spoiled child." Catherine smiled and thought to herself, "But his father was a 'respectable gentleman.'" β
Thinking of this, Catherine couldn't help but look at Snape, as if since the death of her martial arts teacher, no one had defended herself like she had just done.
"Don't think that all the people in this world have ill will towards youβ" Remembering the teacher's dying words, Catherine suddenly decided, "Maybe I can try it, as he said." β
"Try what?" Snape's voice suddenly rang out beside her.
"Robe, I'd love to try it, I don't know if it's done?" Catherine smiled and looked up at Snape.
"Oh, you're such a anxious little girl." Madame Morkin smiled and said, "Fortunately, I have done it, otherwise I don't know what you would have complained about me." β
"How dare I, Lady Morkin!" Catherine smiled sweetly, "I'll have to buy clothes from you for at least seven years!" β
Madame Morkin was amused by Catherine's words, and the rest of the shop laughed too, except for Snape staring at her smile with a suspicious look.
When they left the robes store, there was still a crowd outside, and Snape frowned, ready to make a way as he had done at the beginning, but Catherine took his hand.
"Can we walk through one by one?" The girl blinked, her expression tinged with anticipation.
Snape couldn't help but nod, and then saw her smile happily.
Snape's mind popped up images of a little red-haired girl taking his hand and dragging him into a toy store.
But Catherine didn't do that, she just stayed quietly by his side and waited for him to make a decision.
Snape couldn't help feeling pity, but he didn't know how to express such a feeling, which was so foreign to him, so he took the girl by the hand and led her into the next shop, watching her curiously ask about everything she had never seen, and patiently answering them one by one.
Then they went to most of the shops on the street in the same way, buying a large pile of miscellaneous things that Snape didn't think were of much use, until Catherine's stomach rumbled, and they remembered that they hadn't eaten lunch yet.
They returned to the Leaky Cauldron Bar, which was empty, but the two of them still asked for a private room. Catherine, after confirming with Snape that there was magic to keep food fresh, unceremoniously ordered everything on the menu, even calling the chef out to ask how they were doing.
Looking at Catherine, who was discussing the recipe with the chef in front of him, Snape couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
At the first sight of Catherine, Snape was completely immersed in his own memories, until the girl's soft, gentle voice and elegant and skillful manners reminded him that she was not the two men he knew.
Although Snape couldn't tell Catherine and the two men completely after that, he was keenly aware that she was not as innocent and ignorant as they had been, that she had not lost her way by the magic of magic, and that she had kept a cool head.
Although in retrospect, Snape admired her at the time, but at the time, he was almost so tricked by the girl that he almost lost control of his pride, even if a large part of it was due to the two men who had long since disappeared.
Snape was a little skeptical that if it weren't for the fact that the girl had no attachment to her current life, he would have been able to convince her to complete his mission.
Lacking patience for wasting time, Snape took Catherine's hand as soon as the apparition was over, only to find that the temperature of her right hand was terrifyingly low, as if she had just come out of the freezer, and he couldn't help but regret that his hand was too cold to warm it quickly.
On the way to Diagon Alley, Catherine rarely showed a little curiosity of an 11-year-old, but more of a maturity that was completely inappropriate for her age, and at that moment, Snape was surprised and heartbroken, and even couldn't help but go crazy.
Well, he'd have to admit that he was too caught up in his memories and ended up seeing her a week late, but why did the Savior, who should have been notified a week ago, not come to Diagon Alley until today, he looked like a curious native who had never seen the world.
