Chapter 040: Turning Enemies into Friends
"To keep you safe, I'll be using the time turner with you for a while until I'm sure you're really okay." Snape continued with the work at hand.
Catherine opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she only spit out one sentence: "Thank you for your concern!" Dean! β
Snape stopped his pen and looked up at Catherine in shock, but when he saw the indifference in her eyes that only appeared after the use of Occlumency, he felt that he could not spit it out until he lowered his head and avoided the merciless gaze, and this turbidity came over his head with regret and helplessness.
"Is there anything else?" Snape asked casually, only to find that his voice had become unusually hoarse.
"Yes!" Catherine said with a blank face, "I want to learn wolf poison potion." β
This sentence was like a hammer, slamming into Snape's heart, and his hand shook, drawing a long red line on the graded assignment, which was as glaring as a wound, and Snape simply added an extra stroke, making it a grotesque fork.
"Yes!" Snape used Occlumency, and his voice finally became flat, "Tomorrow night begins." β
"Thank you! I'll take my leave! Catherine nodded politely before turning away.
But as soon as the stone door of the office was closed, Snape's quill snapped in two, and he glanced at the pen, swept it into the corner, and then leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes in frustration.
[That is indeed an unforgivable mistake!] The silver ring in Snape's left hand suddenly hissed with a Douglas sound, and its head was raised......
"I know!" Snape clenched his right fist and broke the armrest in one fell swoop.
Eighteen years ago, he made an unforgivable mistake and since then he has lost the only light in his life; Now that he has made another unforgivable mistake, will he lose his last hope of survival?
No! Snape was very unwilling!
Eighteen years ago, he was powerless to recover. Eighteen years later, he is not without the ability to recover!
But how?
[If you make a mistake, a fluttering apology is useless, only practical actions can make up for the harm suffered by the other party. Douglas said, wagging his tail.
"I know that!" Snape yelled in displeasure, "I don't know what to do? β
[Didn't Catherine just say that? Douglas spat out the snake letter, "She wants to learn the wolf poison potion. γ
"It's not an easy potion to learn," Snape frowned, "it's still too hard to operate at Catherine's current level." β
[You just taught her hand-in-hand!] There was a strange glint in Douglas's eyes.
Snape was stunned for a moment, then suddenly jumped up and rushed into the room. As for the parchment on the table, there was no rule that the professor had to do his best to correct the homework, not to mention that few students would expect to receive the cruel approval of the Potions professor sooner, so they were completely ignored.
As soon as Catherine left Snape's office, she went straight to the common room of Slytherin House to inquire about the news, and finally learned that Ixissi was in his prefect's quarters, and as for the Slytherins she met along the way, each of them had very complicated expressions, but none of them greeted her. Except for the third-year students, the red-haired girl motioned with her eyes not to come closer.
"I've confronted Professor Lupin, and he confessed to doing that on Thursday afternoon." Once she was sure that he was the only one in the dormitory in Ixissi, Catherine didn't go out of her way to keep her voice down. "His purpose was to understand just how deep the contradictions between Slytherin and Gryffindor really were."
"Why would he do that?" Ixace, who was pouring water to greet the guests, couldn't help but stop what she was doing and looked at Catherine in disbelief.
"Because he's going to help me, and my purpose is to make the two housesβ" Catherine said as she walked up to Ixissi, with a relaxed face, "turning enemies into friends." β
"You're crazy!" Ixissi's eyes widened. "Do you think the thousand-year-old grudge is so easy to solve?"
"People who can't untie it either don't have enough strength or are not willing to do such a thankless thing." Catherine smiled brightly. "But luckily, I'm neither."
"Do you know how much resistance there will be?" Ixissi lowered the water bottle and raised her voice, as if trying to wake Catherine.
"Can its resistance be greater than the natural power of heaven?" Catherine asked with a smile.
"Of course not!" Ixissi said angrily.
"If Muggles have the determination to fight natural disasters, don't wizards even have the courage to settle a millennium of grudges?" Catherine retorted indifferently, "Or maybe you don't realize how embarrassing the current situation of the British wizarding world is. β
"How could it not be!" Ixesy shouted, his expression couldn't help but become excited, "The British wizarding world has been resting on its laurels for so many years, and it has long been unable to keep up with the pace of the times, if it doesn't make changes, it will definitely be ruthlessly thrown out of the tide of history and drowned in the long river of years." β
"But you didn't realize that the root cause of this qiΔ is at Hogwarts, in the opposition between the two houses, Slytherin and Gryffindor."
"You're too alarmist, aren't you?" Ixissi's tone became a little hesitant.
"Don't talk about anyone else, just you and Percy." Catherine said confidently, "When you are divided into Slytherin and Gryffindor, when you become the best male students in your respective houses, when you become representatives of both houses, your actions, your choices, are no longer controlled by your own will, but are forced to submit to the interests of the whole.
So when you graduate, when you climb to the top of power, when you become a spokesperson for an interest group again, you can only become enemies, enemies for the sake of opposition, and it is almost impossible to cooperate.
But if you weren't in England, or at Hogwarts, or in two opposing houses at the same time, wouldn't you be friends with each other? β
Ixace was stunned, he pondered for a while before nodding firmly, "It's definitely possible to become friends!" β
"Now I'm going to help you achieve this goal, will you help me?" Catherine seduced in a soft voice.
Ixissi bowed slightly, then her eyes widened in disbelief as she glared at Catherine.
"You used the Imperius Curse on me?" His tone became dangerous, and his right hand clenched his wand.
"Maybe I might have the strength to cast the Wandless Silent Reimburser Curse, butβ" Catherine confidently spread her hands, "do I need to?" β
Ixissi pursed her lips, but in the end she didn't check, it wasn't that he believed Catherine, but what she had just said did convince him, so it didn't matter whether she used other means or not.
"You should understand that I can't take a public stance on this right now!" Ixesi thought for a moment before speaking, her expression already natural, "Unless you can convince Percy. Weasley, and let him show him what he was capable of at Gryffindor. β
"I see!" Catherine smiled slightly, didn't continue to dwell on it, but directly changed the topic, "About the challenge I presented." β
"Congratulations, all of Slytherin is a challenger except me." Ixissi patted Catherine on the shoulder with great joy, "It's in the common room, it's the night you are discharged, after 8 p.m. tonight, there's only one rule. β
"Strength represents a qiΔ." Catherine took the words, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but show a bright smile.
"Good luck!" Ixissi smiled heartily, "Would you like to have dinner together?" β
"It's an honor!" Catherine smiled and agreed.
Ixissiy took Catherine to the dining room, and the two chatted while eating, from the internal situation in Slytherin, to the changes in Hogwarts this year, and even about the situation in Britain and the world, but it was not half related to the challenges of the night.
At eight o'clock in the evening, when Catherine and Ixissi walked out of "SC", the other Slytherins were already waiting in the common room, seeing this, Ixissi didn't talk much nonsense, directly opened the Serpent Barrier, and when everyone was in place, he announced the start of the challenge.
The brilliant spell light was like fireworks, instantly drowning Catherine, enveloping her figure in a full range of three hundred and sixty degrees, but when the attack slowed down a little and the smoke that blocked the view dissipated, everyone saw that she was unharmed, and stood there without the slightest nervousness, spinning the wand in her hand in boredom.
"If there is any other means, please use it!" Catherine smiled.
The students, who had still had scruples, did not hesitate to throw their strongest spells, but when their vision became clear again, Catherine did not even have a trace of blackening on her.
"Isn't that new?" Catherine asked for a long time, but received no response, "Then it's my turn!" β
Hearing this, the crowd put all sorts of defensive spells on themselves, but when a strong stream of water erupted from the tip of Catherine's staff, they were still swept away, and when their heads were flooded, they couldn't even help themselves.
Catherine waved her wand lightly, and a string of golden characters appeared in front of her, which was the school song of Hogwarts.
Everyone immediately thought of the terrifying scene at the opening banquet, and they couldn't help but turn pale, and the group began to struggle violently, but no matter which direction they tried, they were all swept up in the small whirlpool and couldn't leave the giant snake enchantment.
With a wave of her wand again, Catherine divided the Slytherin students into seven tiers by grade level, and then began to spin to the melodies of "Marriage March", "God Save the Queen", "Marseillaise", "Deutsche Above One QiΔ", "March of the Volunteers", "The Star-Spangled Banner Never Falls", and "Funeral March". (To be continued......)
