CHAPTER XXVIII
While several companions are basking in the joy of reunion, the battle between the swamp monster and the two-headed dragon lizard has begun. As the first and second monsters in the swamp, they had always been careful to avoid conflict with each other until then - Mel was strong enough to kill any dragon lizard, and the number of dragon lizards was also a scruple for the swamp monsters, but at this moment, the master's orders and the anger of the child's killing finally caused a fierce battle between the two.
In order to free his companion who was enveloped by the swamp monster, another dragon lizard spewed flames violently, and an almost white pillar of fire fell on Mel's body, but the scorching heat could not be withstood by the scorching heat. With a roar of rage, Mel was forced to abandon the opportunity to kill one of his opponents, and his entire body rose into the air, turning into a huge sphere at the same time, and countless tentacles extended from the periphery of the sphere, reaching out to the two dragon lizards from different directions.
The dragon lizard that had been wrapped in Mel had suffered a lot of damage, its scales had been corroded by acid in many places, and its muscles had turned pus in some places, but this did not affect its agility, and after quickly dodging the tentacles around it, it pounced on its opponent with its companions, trying to close the distance and tear them apart with its sharp claws.
But they didn't get their way, and Mel's spherical body suddenly turned into a slender rope before her opponent could close in, and after skillfully dodging the dragon lizard's pounce, it slammed into the injured dragonlizard's neck, wrapping around her opponent like a python as the acid corroded the latter.
The entangled dragon lizard struggled with all its strength, its claws desperately tore at the rope around its neck, but it could not loosen it in any way, and beside it, because the surface area of Merr had been greatly reduced, the other dragon lizard that was afraid of accidentally injuring its companion did not dare to spray flames, so it could only roar in a low voice while trying its best to pull the rope that Merr had become with its teeth.
However, Mel's tough, smooth skin almost made it impossible for the dragon lizard to save its mate, and just as it finally managed to bite a part of the swamp monster's body, an arrow of venom shot out of the bitten part of Mel, through between the two rows of dragon lizard's teeth, and into its throat.
If it were attacked from the outside, the venom was powerful, but it wasn't enough to inflict lethal damage on a giant creature like a dragon lizard, but when it entered its body directly, even a creature ten times stronger would not be able to resist it. The acid, which could dissolve the adamantite gold, quickly corroded the dragon lizard's esophagus, then the other organs of the chest and abdomen, and the huge body of the large lizard that had been shot by the venom rolled on the ground while trying to roar, but its vocal cords had been corroded and destroyed at the same time as its esophagus, and streams of fishy, blood-mixed yellow liquid continued to flow out of its mouth, which was its dissolved internal organs. Eventually, after two minutes of agonizing struggle, the dragon lizard stopped breathing.
Its mate was on his way to catch up with him a minute later, with Melmer's strangulation severing the latter's neck.
"So you have met with almost no obstacles. As he sat listening to Heim's story, even Rhaegar had to sigh at the luck of his companions.
After being blocked at the other end of the canyon by falling rocks, Haim and the others encountered far fewer enemies than Rhaegar and Willy, and with no mages following them, the mutated sub-giants eliminated two-thirds of their opponents without even using elves, and caused the remaining third to flee without a fight. After that, apart from encountering a few unlucky swamp creatures who wanted to take them as food, they chose another path into the swamp without any danger, and after the dwarves whimsically turned a swamp python that tried to attack them into a mount - due to weight limitations, the poor sub-giant could only run after the python on his own scud legs, and the three of them became more unimpeded until they met the sun-basking dragon lizard.
The companions were sitting on Mel's back, the giant swamp monster had turned itself into a creature with a python's head and tail, but with a wide flat back, the super gravity allowed Mel to carry everyone including Nack with ease, and the swamp overlord's aura made the predators along the way hide in the shadows in fear, which made the rest of the journey a comfortable and quick trip - after subduing the swamp monster, Rhaegar and Willy have been traveling in this way.
"You just said this is your pet?" "Are you sure it won't attack anyone else, or suddenly treat us like dragons, instead of chewing food with its mouth, the prey turns into a puddle of liquid through the acid secreted by its body, which is then absorbed through the pores of its skin?"
"It's hard to say," Rhaegar said gravely, "it's not very good-tempered, and it's usually made excited by something red, like a red mustache, or a certain smell, like alcohol." ”
"I've heard of these creatures," said Heim at this point, "they are the overlords of the swamps, and are almost never picky eaters, but most of the time they prefer to eat smaller, meaty, and easily digestible foods." ”
"I've heard some adventurers talk about it, too," Willy continued, taking in the intentions of the two men, "Swamp monsters are very sensitive creatures, they can sense the hostility of the creatures around them, and then decide what to do with each other depending on the size of that hostility. ”
"Very well," the words of the geist, elf, and Willy made the dwarf who had seen Mel turn the dead dragon lizard into pus in a matter of seconds, and he exclaimed, "I admit to hating this thing, but that doesn't stop me from using an axe to let it know how good a dwarf is, if it dares to provoke me!" As he spoke, he quietly wriggled his ass unobtrusively, as if that would be the way to get rid of the monster beneath his seat.
A burst of laughter erupted from the mouths of the three of them almost at the same time, and then, reacting to it, Nack couldn't help but laugh, and the sub-giant almost rolled off the swamp monster's back.
"I hate you!" the dwarf, realizing that he had been fooled, shouted angrily, "If I believe you any longer, I will shave my beard and declare myself a goblin!"
The morning sun shines through the clouds and shines on the five friends who are laughing, making everyone feel a deep warmth.
