Interview with anime singer LiSA
Tell about the love for Minions
Since making a name for himself in 2010 with the TV anime "AngelBeats!", singer LiSA has been responsible for the theme songs of many anime works, and has performed frequently at budokan in recent years. Recently, she showed her girlish side and talked about her love for "Minions".
"Minions" is an American 3D computer-animated comedy film released in 2015, it is a spin-off of the 2010 and 2013 films "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2", written by Brian Lynch, directed by Pierre Cowfinn and Kyle Balda, and produced by Chris Meledandley and Jenna Haley. Not only is LiSA an avid fan of this work, but she will also be working as a voice actor in the Japanese version, and she has also been appointed as the chair of the review committee for the Japanese dubbing female limited audition for "Minions", what does she think of this work? The full text of the interview is below!
■ I'm super in love with the Minions
Q: I heard that Ms. LiSA is very fond of mysterious creatures and Minions. So what exactly attracts you to such creatures?
A: I like their optimistic attitude no matter what they face. Minions are very fond of pranks and play the role of bad boys, so they can't be said to be characters full of strengths. However, I was impressed by the gesture of supporting the boss with all my might, and the fact that I was able to enjoy the crisis even in the event of a crisis. So I love the gestures of these little things, including their useless places.
Q: Minions used to be active in Despicable Me 2, but did you already like them in the first installment?
A: That's right, for example, because of the expansion of the invented products, they were blown up into the universe. It's a very acceptable picture for children. They sang and waved their quilts. The gesture of rushing out of the child's room is pitiful.
Q: I was surprised by how much you really know.
A: After all, I don't remember how many times I've watched it myself (laughs). When I want to get motivated, when I don't know what to do on my day off, I open it without thinking about it. Not only the Minions, but also the other characters and worldviews in the work. It's a work that always excites me and "wants to watch it on vacation".
Q: Speaking of which, among so many Minions, do you have a particular favorite Minions?
A: I like Stewart with one eye. This is one of my favorite promotional images. It calmly shows a fierce look in its eyes (laughs). It's not very cute, and it looks like a monster with overalls, which looks very strange, but it hits my cuteness. And once you take off your overalls, you will find that it still has a butt (laughs).
■The Minions match the world that LiSA wants to realize
Q: I feel that the innocence of the Minions can resonate with Miss LiSA herself.
A: Yes. I think it would be nice if I could be as optimistic and energetic as they are, no matter what happens. Even I have times when I'm depressed, when I'm not doing well, when I'm worried. But looking at the way they were always smiling, I was immediately empowered. I myself hope to be like a Minion.
Q: Is there anything else that Miss LiSA and Minions have in common or that they can relate to?
A: What about the pranks. They're cute, but they're a bit evil because they have the blood of bad guys. In "Despicable Me", the incident occurs and the room is on fire. Then they used water to make a mess of the room and leisurely imitated the siren. How to say that...... Not a good boy anyway.
Q: I'm happy at all times, which is similar to Miss LiSA's performance on stage.
A: Yes. So I want to be like them. I also conceived a world called LiSA and created many characters to appear in concerts and videos. Including the worldview, the Minions are completely consistent with the world I want to achieve. That's why I like them so much. I resonate with them to the point where I wish I could live in the Minion world.
■ Minions are waiting for super favorite women
Q: "Minions" will be officially released in Japan on July 31. So what exactly is Miss LiSA looking forward to?
A: Anyway, this is a work in which the Minions become the protagonists. I gave them a close-up in "Despicable Me 2", so I thought, "It's almost time for them to be the main characters," and it turned out to be a dream come true (laughs).
Q: I think you've expected that.
A: Yes, that's what I expected, and it turned out to be a reality. I think it's also because there are so many people who like Minions. Not only are they cute, they are fearless, optimistic at all times, and will laugh together. We all want to enjoy this Minion.
Q: This time, you also served as the chairman of the review committee for the "Minions" dubbing audition.
A: I also enjoy the Minions from the same position as everyone else, so I will keep the same eyes as everyone else to look forward to the Minions' appearance, and it would be nice if I could meet great people in the audition.
Q: What kind of people do you think will apply for this female audition?
A: I want women who have the mood of "love Minions" to sign up. I think the light is "I like it so much!" The idea is enough. That's the most important thing. And it's a dubbing performance, so it has nothing to do with age, right? For those who think "I like the mood of the Minions, I don't lose people!" "Friends, please be sure to participate.
■I want to create music that makes today beautiful for more people.
Q: This time, Ms. LiSA herself is taking on the challenge of voice acting.
A: To be honest, I've been thinking "can I really do it well?" "However, this work tells the story of the Minions chasing their dreams and embarking on a journey to find the boss. Personally, I'm chasing my dreams at the moment. Then when I said, "Love Minions!" I got the job this time. As someone who has achieved a dream, I hope that this challenge will make people like Minions and be an opportunity for everyone to take a step forward.
The feeling of "I want to take on a challenge" outweighs the anxiety, so let me try it this time. I'm going to try my best and do my best with the feeling of loving Minions.
Q: So what is your role this time?
A: A bad guy named Maji. She's the mother of a family of bank robbers named the Nelsons. During the dubbing process, Mr. Shiraku was my husband and Himura was my son. And although Himura is a child, he is exactly the same as the character on the promotional image.
Q: Ms. LiSA said that she is chasing her dreams, so please tell us about your dreams.
A: I came up with the theme of "Today is a good day". That is, "something good must happen every day, even if it is insignificant, so it is a good day". And I sang with that in mind. I want everyone to be better every day, and if the opportunity to become better is my songs and my concerts, it will be even better.
There are still many people who don't know me, so my goal now is to create music that makes today beautiful for as many people as possible.
Q: Last year and this year, you performed at Nippon Budokan. Is this also a dream?
A: Yes. Of course, in terms of form alone, it also shows that I have stepped onto a bigger stage. I feel like I have a "let so many people hear my singing!" ". It's just a dream to gather together, which is to "pass on the song to more people!" "That's a good fit with my dream.
Q: Thank you very much. We're looking forward to the auditions and the feature film of Minions.
A: I was really surprised. After seeing the trailer for Minions, I thought, "Great! See you at the cinema in July!! "I'm looking forward to it. And suddenly I got the news of the dubbing, which made me even wonder if it was a dream.
If you want to realize your dreams, then you need to have people who can make your dreams come true. I'm afraid that everyone will have such an opportunity. And the fact that Minions can realize other people's dreams makes me feel very amazing. Therefore, I hope that everyone can also audition through guò and realize the dream of "becoming a Minion companion".
