Chapter 8: The God of the Storm
"You've got the support of the adjudicators," Heim said to Rhaegar as he looked at the tower in the distance, "and we're going to just rush in and 'force' Villar to 'surrender' power?"
It was a steep peak, from the top of which the god of the storm could be seen in the distance, and now Rhaegar and his companions stood at the top of the peak, and behind them, dozens of robed mages stood survivors loyal to Carson.
"No one can disobey the decision of the adjudicator," Rhaegar said to his companion, observing the looming God of the Storm, "but they will not rule because of some 'private' grievances, and in fact, it is difficult for us to find out Villar's fault in the matter of Carson's abdication." β
He withdrew his gaze and looked around at his companions, "Therefore, I did not ask the adjudicators to help me regain power, nor did I intend to start a war that would greatly damage the vitality of the Storm God, I just got a qualification from them. β
For the last sentence, the 'jing' spirit cast a puzzled look.
"According to the tradition of the mage world, a mage who has been expelled from the 'door' has no right to come back to take charge of his master's 'door'. Rhaegar explained, "I think that's why Villarken let me go after making an agreement with my mentor, because in his mind, my departure would be the equivalent of banishment, and in such a situation, I would no longer pose any threat to him and his son, and even if I returned one day, I would be greeted by a large number of mages who were facing the same hatred of foreign enemies." β
"But he made a mistake. Rhaegar turned his blazing gaze back into the distance, "My mentor has abdicated my freedom and asked me to stay away from the Storm God and never return, but when he made such a request to me, he had already left the position of the master of the mage tower, in other words, he no longer had the authority to exile me, and as the new master of the mage tower, Villar also did not give such an order. β
"So," said Haim with a whim, "you are still a member of the Mage Tower, and you are using this to ask the adjudicators to support you. β
"That's right," Rhaegar nodded, "but not by supporting me to become the master of the Mage Tower - the Adjudicators will never interfere in the affairs of a mage organization unless one of them is clearly violating justice, I just ask them to allow me to challenge the current Master of the Mage Tower, and declare the winner get everything for the loser." β
As a member of a mage-rich race, and despite not knowing magic per se, Heim was no stranger to some of the mage's traditions, and he knew that within some mage organizations, duels were often the ultimate way to resolve disputes. However, in order to maintain a certain order, only those mages of similar status are allowed to hold duels with each other, and in terms of strength, in terms of his status as the god of storms, Rhaegar is obviously far from being able to challenge Villar - in the records of this mage tower, he is still only a sixth-order mage, and in this case, the decision of the mage adjudicators is undoubtedly his pass to obtain this qualification.
"What are you going to do?" asked Heim after a moment of deep groaning.
"Like you just said," Rhaegar replied calmly, "just rush straight in." By the time he finished the last word, the geist's figure had disappeared in place, and only his voice echoed in the air, "Wait for my signal." β
For Rhaegar, a forbidden mage, the distance between him and the god of the storm was not an obstacle, and the moment he disappeared from the peak, he was already outside the tower's large 'gate'.
"You have trespassed into the territory of the Storm God," the two mages in charge of guarding the spirit spotted the geist's trail and reacted quickly, "Give up your senseless resistance and go with us now." "Several 'squire' samurai surrounded Rhaegar from both the flanks and the rear at the same time, their crossbow arrows glittering in the sunlight.
Rhaegar didn't know these two sixth-order mages, and apparently, after Carson left, Villar had recruited quite a few mages to join the Storm God. He had never thought of showing mercy to these strangers, and with a casual wave of his hand, the geist stepped past the two mages who stood in front of him, and under his magic, the two mages and their 'squires' had long been firmly bound, and if no one dissolved the magic, they would be turned into stone statues forever.
It's not an exaggeration to describe Rhaegar's progress as unimpeded, as the geist's biggest move before entering the heart of the Mage Tower is to raise his hand and swagger past his incapacitated opponents.
This situation continued until the appearance of several *** masters wearing eighth-order badges, these people were the most 'elite' force of the Storm God, and they were also the existence second only to Villar in the current mage tower.
"You shouldn't have come here," said an elderly mage, one of the oldest mages here and the presiding officer of Rhaeggar's ceremony to become a sixth-order mage, "you've been banished, so get out of here now before it's too late." β
"I'm still one of the people here," Rhaegar said with considerable respect for the venerable old mage who was not part of Villar's camp, "and by the time Carson banished me, he was no longer the owner of the Mage Tower, so he had no authority to make the decision to exile me. β
Rhaegar whispered a spell, and a crystal ball appeared in the air.
"I bring the decisions of the adjudicators," Rhaegar said, "and according to their resolution, I will challenge Villars, and the winner will receive everything for the loser, including power within the Mage's Tower." β
The old mage's face showed a thoughtful look, although he was neutral in the dispute between the two sides, he did not like Villar, and the current owner of the mage tower was obviously extremely suspicious of him, which made the current number two of the mage tower under great pressure.
"If what you say is true," the mage named Coville finally decided, "let's convene a council of mages to verify its authenticity." He raised his hand and made a gesture, and the invisible 'wave' movement spread throughout the tower in an instant, along the special devices that spread all over the mage tower.
"You don't have the authority to do this," said one of the *** masters next to Coville angrily, "Only the master has the right to call a mage assembly, and you haven't even discerned whether he is telling the truth or not......"
For Rhaegar this sentence was enough to confirm that the other party was Villar's henchman, a cold light flashed in his eyes, and the next moment, an invisible magic arrow struck the follower who was loyal to Villar.
Except in some special circumstances, no one can sneak up on a *** master, and their initial understanding of the rules makes them extremely sensitive to all forms of energy 'waves', even a mage who is one order higher than them can't do this, and when that mage falls to the ground like a deflated air bag, all the mages are taken aback.
"Me and my teacher," Rhaegar said calmly, "is no longer a *** teacher." A water balloon appeared in the air as he spoke, and as he finished the last word, the water balloon suddenly transformed into a blazing fireball in an instant.
Transforming the opposite 'sexual' magic, which is something that only forbidden mages can do, *** masters looked at Rhaegar with awe in their eyes, at this moment, they had no doubt that the other party would be able to regain the throne of the mage tower, and these mages who were neutral between Carson and Villar began to consider whether to change their position.
"Please follow me. Coville's tone of voice unconsciously changed from treating a junior to treating a high-status master - in the mage world, strength has always been linked to status, "We will go to the council hall now, and the mages will be there in the shortest possible time." β
No matter which mage tower or similar mage organization is, its head undoubtedly holds the greatest power, but unlike the secular kings, this power is restricted to a considerable extent, and it is the mage assembly that all mages participate in that can impose the greatest constraint on it. At this meeting, people can criticize the actions and policies of the leaders without fear of repercussions, and if the majority of the mages reach a consensus, they can even depose the supreme leaders - which is why it is rare for the heads of the council with the power to convene such meetings to hold such meetings.
When he saw Rhaegar standing side by side with Covel, Villar, who hurried to the scene after hearing the summoning signal, knew that what he had been worrying about had finally happened.
"You're no longer a member here. Villar wasn't going to give in to the wind, in fact, he had been preparing for this day since he took charge of the Storm God, and Rhaeggar's identity was a great weapon for him to fight back.
"Master Rygar wasn't expelled," Colville called the geist shocking everyone, "when Carson ordered him to leave, he had already given up his position as the master of the Mage Tower, it was only a mentor's request for an apprentice, and in the ten years since, no one has ever given such an order." β
"Then now is the time to give this order!" Villar's surprise to Villar, who was second only to himself in the Mage Tower, openly sided with Rhaegar and said almost angrily, "I banish him in the name of the Master of the Mage Tower. β
"I'm afraid not. Coville shook his head slightly, "During the convening of the Mage Council, you cannot punish any member of the Mage Tower unless two-thirds of the mages agree. Andβ" His gaze turned to Rhaeggar.
The crystal ball that had been hovering in front of Rhaegar suddenly flashed with a dazzling white light, and an invisible coercion spread through the hearts of everyone present with this white light, and then the crystal ball disappeared into the air, and a figure wrapped in light took its place.
