Chapter 238: Hagrid Returns
The harsh cold weather hurried in, and the heavy snow dressed Hogwarts in delicate silver landscape paintings, and the sky was faintly bright, and the snow gradually weakened. Walking out of the Slytherin common room with a green flame burning in the fireplace, the snow had stopped, and as far as the eye could see, a thick layer of snow covered the lawn outside the castle, and the lake at the edge of the forest was already covered with hard ice.
After breakfast in the hall, Augustus walked out of the castle alone, and the first session of the morning was a lesson in the protection of magical creatures.
The snow on the grass had already crossed the calves, and as we walked forward, deep and shallow footprints left clusters of distinct marks on the pure white snow, frost hung on the treetops, and not far away, there were already many Slytherin and Gryffindor students waiting for class.
"Good morning, Mr. Augustus," Lillian smiled and waved at Augustus, "The weather is nice today, but in winter, the coldest time is often the process of snow melting, so it will be much better if there is no sun." β
Augustus walked slowly to the front and nodded slightly, "This winter's snow season has come a little early, and at this time in the past, there will be the last trace of residual heat in late autumn, but it is not bad, snow days will promote the activity of the ice element in a certain way." β
Lilian pursed her lips, her crimson pupils revealing a hint of helplessness, and her three words were not separated from magic, even if she was talking about the weather, she could think of magical elements.
The crowd gathered in class became more and more, Augustus glanced at it casually, probably the students of the two colleges had arrived, but the professor still hadn't arrived, and it stands to reason that the female professor usually arrives early.
"Hey, that's not going to be Hagrid." Draco suddenly pointed to a tall figure at the edge of the forest, and Augustus stared at Hagrid as he resisted a dead bull coming from the depths of the Forbidden Forest.
Looking at his current condition, it doesn't seem to be too good, there are obvious old wounds on his face, a yellow-green swelling under his eye sockets is very conspicuous, and some small wounds are still bleeding.
"Well, how do you feel like Hagrid has just returned from the battlefield, after saying that for so long, this Dumbledore's assistant, I don't know what secret mission he is performing, looking at the shape of the wound, it looks like he has fought with some beast." Lilian clasped her hands together and wondered.
"We're here today!" Hagrid said happily to the students, swinging his head towards the black forest behind him, "It's a little denser!" Still, they like the dark?? β
"What likes the dark?" There was a hint of confusion and fear on Malfoy's face, and it was clear that the psychological trauma inflicted on him by Hagrid's Buckbeak still lingered on him.
A smile tugged at the corner of Harry's mouth, and he was in favor of anything that could make Malfoy uncomfortable, no matter what.
Augustus touched his chin, in this special period, if Hagrid continues to make any dangerous creatures, with Umbridge's realization, I'm afraid it will be another school stay.
"Are you ready?" Hagrid glared at the class and said, "Okay." I've set aside a forest field trip for you in the fifth grade to show you how these creatures live in their natural environment. The creatures we're going to learn about today are so rare that I think I'm probably the only one in all of Britain who has tamed themβ"
"Are you sure they're tamed?" Malfoy asked, his voice palpably distrustful. The fear is even more pronounced. "Anyway, this won't be the first time you've brought the beast to class, right?"
"Alright, Draco, shut up," Lillian shook her head slightly, "You've disgraced Slytherin's face. β
Draco muttered a few times before following the group into the Forbidden Forest.
After walking for about ten minutes, I came to a place where the trees were thick and dark as dusk, and there was not a single snow on the ground. Hagrid thrust the half cow to the ground, took two steps back, and turned to face the class. Many of them used tree trunks as cover, looking nervously from side to side, cautiously approaching him, as if on guard against an attack at any moment.
"Closer, closer." Hagrid encouraged, "Now, they're going to be drawn to the flesh, but I'm going to call them anyway because they like to be me??" β
He turned, shook his head, shook the hair from his face, and let out a strange, shrill cry that echoed through the dark woods like the whine of a giant bird. No one laughed, and most seemed too frightened to speak.
Some slight stampede appeared nearby, and Augustus glanced around suspiciously, but there was nothing but sound.
Directly open the detection of secondary invisibility, and there is still nothing around.
As if thinking of something, he opened the omniscient eye, and sure enough, in the field of vision, a pair of shining white eyes gradually grew larger, followed by a dragon-like face, neck, and skeletonized body, and a huge, winged black horse emerged from the darkness. It looked at the students for a few seconds, flicked its long black tail, then lowered its head and began to bite the dead cow with its fangs.
In fact, according to Augustus, these creatures should be at the intermediate point between the plane of hell and the plane of reality, between these two planes, that is, they can only be observed by those who have experienced death firsthand.
Ron was still looking out into the woods, and after a moment he whispered, "Why didn't Hagrid bark?" β
Most of the students also looked around with the same confused and nervous expressions as Ron, but they just couldn't see the dark horse standing a few feet away.
"Oh, there's another one!" Hagrid said proudly as a second black horse emerged from the forest, retracted its leather-like wings, bowed its head and greedily ate the raw meat, "Now?? Whoever sees it, raise his hand. β
Harry raised his hand, glad that he finally had the opportunity to learn the secrets of these strange horses. Hagrid nodded at him.
"Huh?? I know you will, Harry. He said sternly, "And you, Neville?" β
"What the hell is it?" Lillian glanced left and right in surprise, and finally looked at Hagrid.
"That's right," said Malfoy, sneering impatiently, "what the hell are we supposed to see?" β
Hagrid replied by pointing to the dead cow on the ground. The class stared at it for a few seconds, and a few gasped and Parvati screamed. Augustus chuckled, if you can't see Thestrals feeding, the pieces of meat will automatically peel off the bones and disappear into the air, it must look very weird.
