The highlights of the second half of the season are revealed! Interview with the production team of "White Box".

The original anime "White Box" by P.A. Works has been well received since its launch. And in the episode that just ended, Musashino completed "EXODUS! is also a kind of reunion-like ending. However, in fact, the work will continue to broadcast the plot of the second half of the season next year, so how to continue the story has also become the focus of concern for many audiences. Recently, some Japanese media interviewed the production team of the work, and learned about the next development of the work from their mouths.

Q: What is the work arrangement of the staff in "White Box"?

A: Online producers are mainly responsible for assembling a team of on-site workers and managing matters related to the production and budget. And in order to form a team, in addition to the director, it is necessary to determine the person in charge of each part of the work, which is also called the "main system zuò personnel". According to the "White Box", Ogasawara is the chief director of the painting, and Iguchi is the assistant for the painting, but in addition to that, the director of the art, color, 3D, and photography work must be determined, or the work must be done by someone from another company. Next up are Yamada, Madoka, Segawa, etc., who are in charge of the performance work or painting supervision of each episode. It is also important to appoint this person. Together, we call these positions the "staff ring", and the work of assembling this ring is very crucial, and it is up to the producers to be able to complete the work that the director wants to create. In addition, even if the staff is assembled, it is necessary to consider whether the work on site is completely smooth. Have you decided everything in advance? Online producers need to take into account the morale of the staff and the atmosphere of the scene. At the same time, the budget is not unlimited, so it is necessary to adjust the relationship between the quality, time and cost of the work, so as not to make major flaws in the work. This is also one of the important jobs.

And "Watanabe P", who can often do these tasks in the mahjong room, is very skillful (laughs).

Q: This work is set on the scene of the animation production, so I think there will be a lot of people in the industry who will come to watch this animation. So what is the reaction within the industry?

A: To be honest, I was terrified before the first episode aired. After all, it's about what happens around us, and it's about the animation industry from the perspective of "P.A.Works", so can people in the industry resonate and agree with it after watching it? I can only say that this is a five-five open. However, after the work officially surfaced, along with the famous phrase "stomach hurts", many people told us, "I saw the white box!" "For our support. And while enjoying the work, some people said that there were many things that they had encountered in the anime, and they thought deeply about it. I am very happy that they are able to look at the work with such a mentality. However, when we ask them to participate in the production of the work, the response is "I feel like it's hard to do, or forget it......" (laughs)

Q: In fact, how realistic are the events and dialogues between the characters in "White Box"?

A: Regarding the events and dialogues in the work, I think we portrayed them quite realistically. When creating a story, the script creators will refer to and summarize the special terms and the real stories that happened on the animation site as necessary materials in advance, and some of the still vague places are supervised by the main staff members, and directly communicate with the production personnel, so as to reflect the real situation in the work as much as possible. Therefore, I think the scene in the work is still very realistic.

Q: In the process of making "White Box", what are some of the things you are concerned about?

A: We need to be mindful that this is not a documentary. Since we decided to focus on the animation industry in which we live, there are also a lot of things that we want to express in a realistic way, and there are also a lot of things we want to know, but if we just understate it, then it is no different from a documentary, and some people may even question: you just make a live-action version. In this regard, we need to present the work as an animation, on the one hand, to reflect the realistic effect, and on the other hand, to make the work have its own theme. I think the current finished product has been able to achieve such an effect, and I think it is also thanks to the skill of director Mizushima.

Q: Now that 12 episodes of the anime have been played, what has been the most difficult thing so far?

A: There are a lot of them, but if you have to ask which one is the most difficult, I can't answer it......

If I have to say it, it's the explosion scene in episodes 5 and 6. In the work, the director believes that "the explosion of 3D can have the effect of being inferior to painting", and there is a lot of controversy over the quality issue. And when creating these episodes, the 3D staff complained: "If we do this, do we have to actually produce a 3D quality that is not inferior to the painting effect...... (laughs)

Although this is true in "White Box", we need to do complex processing and delicate painting in practice, and it is often very difficult to realize these effects in the work.

In the storyboard, it's simply written, "This shot is a god's drawing," but it's not so easy to find someone who can be called a god animator (laughs).

Q:《EXODUS! finally finished the 13th episode smoothly. So with EXODUS! Compared with the current progress of the production of "White Box"?

A: When I decided to make "White Box", I said, "Since we are depicting the scene of the animation of zuò, our schedule must be even worse than in the animation." But be careful not to say these things to the staff......"

Let's work hard not to lose to Musashino Animation!

Q: The second half of the season will start in the future, so please let us know what to watch in the future. In addition, what would you like to say to fans and industry insiders who are looking forward to the broadcast?

A: In the first half of the plot, the main stage was the production of zuò within Musashino Animation, but from the second half of the season, we should not only focus on the production of zuò, but also consider how the animation plan was established. What is the difference between the original work and the original work? We'll take a broader look at animation creation. In addition, in the first half of the film, the plot is mostly centered on the producers, artists, and performers, but in the future, we will also tell the stories of other key staff. Of course, in EXODUS! After that, Musashino Animation will also have new animations to make zuò, and new characters will continue to appear. And the difficult events that annoyed Aoi will also push forward the capacity of the first half by 1.5 times.

In addition, in any case, this is the story of five girls in the animation industry who are working hard to make their dreams of making zuò animation together. And what did they discover and grow on different paths? This is the biggest attraction of this work. And the second half of the season will also be a plot that will be followed by people until the end.,For friends who have been watching the work before.,Stay tuned.。 There are also masters in the industry. Please come and help "White Box"!! (laughs)
