Chapter 1: When the Tomb Door Is Opened
Every grave keeper has one thing to keep in mind, never wonder what you're guarding for. But Edwin opened the door of the tomb, and he looked at the abyss-like tomb as if it were looking at him.
Ever since his father left, the task of guarding the tomb had fallen on his shoulders, and he remembered that he never dared to be curious about the contents of the tomb until this moonless night. The cemetery was quiet, and he sat in front of the shaking campfire, not daring to relax at all. He thought he would fall asleep in the darkness of the night, as usual, but he was awakened by the strange sound of the stone slab loosening. The flames rose as soon as he raised his torch and walked towards the source of the sound.
"What's going on?" he walked over to the tombstone and found nothing out of the ordinary.
"Could it be that the door of the tomb has been loosened? "The tomb door and the tombstone are not one and the same, and according to the ancient legend, the tomb door leads to another world, and the key to open the tomb door is only held by the tomb keeper.
The tombstone was nothing special, he nervously chanted the spell his father had taught him, and opened the tomb door in the void. Watching the stone slab appear out of thin air in front of the tombstone, he was a little surprised by the power of magic, even if it wasn't the first time he had opened the tomb door.
He saw scarlet blood oozing from the tomb door, "What is this?" Edwin's father had never told him about this strange phenomenon, and he unconsciously took two steps back.
The tomb door began to shake again, but Edwin's ears began to echo with a frenzied whisper.
"Open the door...... Open the door...... Human, open the door...... Open the door and you'll get ...... Ancient Secrets...... A secret that even the Pope covets ......"
He felt his body becoming more and more out of his control, and even the blood on the door clotted into the phrase "open the door".
If the key to the tomb door is a spell, then the key to open the tomb door is the blood of the tomb keepers. Edwin felt like he was watching himself spill blood on the tomb door.
"I ...... Controlled......" he thought to himself, but there was nothing he could do.
The door of the tomb opened. Edwin looked at the tomb, and the tomb seemed to be looking at him as well. His throat was hoarse, and the grave keeper's dark robes were wet with sweat.
A strange dark purple mist poured out from the mouth of the tomb, with a smell of decay and death, as if it could swallow him at any moment. The fog gradually dissipated, and the tomb door shrunk into a pocket key that landed on the slender palm stretched out of the mist.
"Good evening, young grave keeper. That's the whisper, and Edwin collapsed to the ground.
"You can call me Mr. Borui. Edwin looked at the man who looked like a night demon in a classical evening dress.
"What are you?"
"I ...... I'm nothing, ah...... This long-lost blood is really delicious. Borui savored the blood on his fingertips.
"What are ancient secrets?"
"Aha, the ancient secret, it's hidden in the filthy Holy See, I hid it there, and those idiots still haven't found out, hahahaha......" Borui laughed maniacally.
"You released me, the grave keeper released me, and even I never thought that the most loyal grave keeper would release me personally. I just wanted to ask for some blood. He licked his lips as he spoke.
"You seduced me. ”
"Isn't the heart of the grave keeper unshaken? You are a traitor among the grave keepers, and what you have unleashed is the source of your world's calamity, the noble existence of another world. ”
"I'm not going to kill you. Instead of killing you, I should let you watch the collapse of this world in guilt and self-blame, this is my revenge on your grave keepers, hahahaha......" Borui laughed wildly and gave Edwin a farewell salute, blending into the night without a trace.
"What the hell am I ...... What was released?" Edwin felt that he no longer needed to guard the tomb, and that these tombstones were set up to imprison the only tomb door.
"It would be nice if my father was still around. He remembered the nights he had spent with his father. Even if there is an abnormality, my father will easily solve it.
The sun was still rising as usual, and a ray of morning sunlight hit Edwin's face, and he found himself leaning against the tombstone for another half the night.
"I can't be here anymore. He patted the dirt off his body and returned to his hut next to the cemetery.
A simple hut with all kinds of living utensils in a mess. Edwin looked at the one silver coin and the few copper coins he had left, barely enough to buy a slightly decent outfit and barely enough to eat.
"Gotta go to town and find Mr. Atwood. "This is a very old polymath, and it is said that he lived there before the town was founded.
Edwin took off the grave keeper's robe and changed into his normal clothes. The town was not very far from the cemetery, and he ran briskly and soon reached the garden of Atwood.
I tidied up my clothes and gently knocked on the door.
"Mr. Atwood. ”
"Oh, little Edwin, you shouldn't be in ......," the bearded old man slumped open.
"Something happened. ”
"Come on in. The old man led Edwin to the meeting room.
"Would you like a glass of elven water? This is something that an old friend of mine brought back from the elven kingdom, and it takes one back to a nostalgic youth, when we all called it by that name and forgot the original name. The old man brought Edwin a glass, and small bubbles kept bubbling on the surface.
"Thank you. Edwin took a sip and felt himself jumping in the sky, like those bubbles dancing in his mouth.
"Haha, tell me what's the matter with this old guy who came to me. ”
Edwin recounted what had happened late last night, and then took another sip of the "happy water" that made people get up.
"The ...... you put out What do you want to do?" Atwood looked at Edwin.
"I ...... I don't know. ”
"Do you know where your father went?"
Edwin shook his head.
"He went to the far north, a land of eternal ice and ice, where countless tribes of giants fought against each other, and where the Frost Dragons were rumored to have thrived. The old man took out an old, yellowed map and pointed to the upper corner.
"Why did he go there?" said nothing when his father left, leaving him a note telling him that he would be the only one to guard the grave.
"I don't know. ”
"I want to go to him. I also want to stop the thing I put out. He was hesitant, but he also knew he couldn't seem to do anything.
"Child, you need a brave heart. Forget everything about Abertor and follow your heart's thoughts. Atwood looked at him with a smile.
"I have a spare map, but it's just a map of the kingdom of Santa Andrea, and I'll give you another gold coin. He found a gold coin with the portrait of King Andrea I.
"Don't blame me for being stingy, I don't have much left. ”
"Where shall I go, sir?"
"You can try your luck in the nearest city of Hall, I have a friend who runs a tavern. You say Old Wood asked you to come, and he'll help you. ”
"Thank you so much. ”
"Maybe you should think about what you're going to do, whether you're going to follow in your father's footsteps, or to stop it. Go, and God will guide you. ”
Atwood sent Edwin out the door and waved at him. After closing the door, he sighed,
"The wheels of history will roll forward again. As he spoke, he poured the rest of Edwin's drink into a small bowl, and an owl flew down from nowhere and drank merrily.
"Andrea, you said yes. The old man looked at it, and the owl looked at him blankly, and lowered his head again.
The kingdom of Sant'Andrea is divided into thirteen counties, and the title system does not coincide with the local system, and the highest governor of each county is the head of the county, who is also the duke. The Thirteenth Duke, together with the royal family and other hereditary nobles and military representatives, formed the House of Lords, while the representatives of the townspeople, large merchants, and large landowners together constituted the House of Commons. The town of Abertore, where Edwin is located, belongs to the domain of a down-and-out baron, and it is always part of Lanxia County.
Edwin was holding the gold coin, his palms were a little hot, it was the first time he had seen a gold coin. He didn't have any friends in the town, and the boys who longed for knighthood despised him as a grave keeper.
"I yearn for the sun, too. With his head down, he walked into the only blacksmith shop in town.
"Grave boy, how could you come to my blacksmith shop. The rugged man looked at him.
"Uncle Ain, is there a sword that suits me?"
"Are you going to hunt the rioting centaurs, too?" said Ain, pulling out a sword.
"Centaurs?"
"Earl John issued a conscription order this morning, a large group of centaurs came out of nowhere, probably from the forest of Eliah, such a cruel and bloodthirsty race should be destroyed!"
"I haven't figured it out yet. Edwin walked outside.
"I've already figured out that if I release it, I'll want to reseal it back. He clenched his fists.
"I'm going to Hall, I'm going to you, Daddy. ”
