Maeda talks about the behind-the-scenes story of the work

In July, the original new "Charlotte" attracted widespread attention due to the name of Jun Aeda. At the same time, the game "AngelBeats!" has also been released. Recently, he was interviewed by Japanese media, let's take a look at the story behind works such as "AngelBeats!"

Q: Today, we invited Junshi Asaeda, the original script manager of Charlotte, and Mr. Na-Ga, who played the original story. Considering that AngelBeats!-1stbeat- is currently on sale, it would be nice if the two of them could talk about this at the same time. So let me ask: when do you think you feel the worst in the process of making zuò?

Maeda: I think it's the worst...... It must have been the time to announce the release date of the PC game AngelBeats!-1stbeat- during the "ANIPLEX×KeyPresents New Project & AngelBeats!" Announcement. Later, I checked the script and found that it was too late...... I said to the person in charge, "I can't do it at all," but the other party replied, "Oh, if you don't do it, you won't be able to do it...... At that time, I felt terrible.

Q: This is a recent thing. When is it coming......

Ma Zhi: At the end of last year...... I was very anxious, so I kept working hard in my hometown since the New Year's holiday.

Q: At what point did Mr. Na-Ga feel "bad"?

Na-Ga: There were a lot of problems with the CG team, but they weren't that bad. It's just that at the end of the year, Mr. Asaeda sent me an email and said, "I always think it's terrible," so I think it's probably really bad now.

Q: We've tried the game now, and among the three playable characters, Yui, Iwasawa, and Panasonic, the Panasonic route has the highest praise.

Machi: Oh~!

Na-Ga: Thank you very much!

Q: The male characters have a sense of incidentality, and you may feel the same way when you play this game. However, after playing it, I feel that the Panasonic route is very good.

Machi: Oh~ Great.

Q: There is also the recording function, which is the first time it has been introduced.

Na-Ga: People in our company are saying that there are so many options that it's hard to choose. If there was such a feature, it should be easy for players to get started, so it was introduced.

Q: In addition, all fans may be concerned about the question: Are there any plans for the release of the game in the future?

Maeda: I already have the script on hand, so it would be nice if everyone could wait for it to be released.

Q: How many people have completed the script in terms of play?

Mazhi: More than half, about two-thirds of it.

Q: In other words, Mr. Asaeda is currently in charge of "LoveSong", "Charlotte", and "AngelBeats!" at the same time.

Asaeda: I've been doing it since the beginning of 2011.

Q: Do you do this today and that tomorrow to change your mood?

Asaeda: If you do both at the same time, you won't be able to change your mood...... I rely on online mahjong to survive (laughs). Recently, I've been thinking about playing a game every day, and then I'm just playing online with players I don't know.

Q: When did you think the TV anime "AngelBeats!" paid off?

Asaeda: What I remember the most is that the initial sales of the theme song and ending song CD reached a very high number, and I sighed: such a whirlwind has been blowing. In addition, the concert was also very lively.

Na-Ga: I don't really care about the number of jùs...... But in the first few episodes, I'm eating mapo tofu there alone. Episode 5. I was introduced to the people what kind of role they are, and I think everyone's reaction has changed.

Q: Do you feel that there is anything you have left to do or regret about AngelBeats!?

Maeda: There are a lot of things that are not finished, or that are worth reflecting on, and I have brought all of these elements to Charlotte this time.

Q: What do you mean by the place of reflection?

Asaeda: In terms of the character's movements, you need to be more sensitive to the details. When all the scripts for Charlotte were released, I talked a lot with the sensitive Na-Ga-kun and asked him to point out the problems and get into the correction work.

Na-Ga: Eventually, it got me involved (laughs). Although I was also involved in the confirmation, Mr. Asaeda also talked to many other people about this and got a lot of inspiration...... That's why do you have to list my name (laughs).

Maeda: Gee, there's something you have to see.

Q: Especially for the actions of the protagonist?

Maeda: No, it's all characters. Whenever they feel something is unnatural, they will immediately sue me.

Q: Is there any difference between AngelBeats!" and Charlotte in terms of script writing methods?

Ma Zhi: Among the former...... I tried to do it in the form of a game script, and Charlotte made me realize that I was creating animation.

Q: When it comes to game scripts, it has to make sense even if there are a lot of characters, but not animation.

Asaeda: I think it's okay, but if the characters overlap, it's hard to remember, and there are a lot of problems anyway. Therefore, this aspect is also worth reflecting on.

Q: Does Mr. Na-Ga have any stories of reflection?

Na-Ga: As Mr. Asaeda said earlier, if you have too many characters, it tends to feel like you overlap...... This aspect needs to be handled flexibly, and I see it as a place for introspection.

Q: I've heard that the voice acting of Charlotte is now in its sixth episode, so what kind of impressions did you have when the characters were given voices for the first time?

A: I feel like Woori has undergone a qualitative change. Just literally, this is definitely not a very likable character, but with the voice, it makes people feel good all of a sudden. I think that's great.

Na-Ga: Mr. Asaeda showed me the sample film during the Dubbing stage, but I was surprised that the main character, Otosaka, has become such a plump character. It's evocative and fun to watch.

Asaeda: Also, heck, I like Misa the most, and I'm very happy that she's here.

Na-Ga: I also have a favorite character this time, but in terms of ease of creation, I have to mention my sister Ayumi. I always think it's the easiest to get started.

Q: Mr. Asaeda once said that Mr. Na-Ga had the strongest fighting power when he drew loli......

Na-Ga: I don't agree with that!

Q: What is the main work being done now?

Asaeda: I'm working on an awesome character sub-track. It feels the same as when AngelBeats!

Q: It's the kind of content that speaks so quickly that it's confusing (laughs).

Asaeda: yes, now I feel that way when I write and write.

Q: The first episode of "Charlotte" has started, so please tell us what to watch in the film. …… There is also the Toba Yonoru Zuò people who once said that they felt like they were going to be torn apart, so how do you feel now?

Toba: I still feel like I've been torn apart. After the work was finished, we couldn't do anything, so we had to wait for the audience's response......

Machi: What to watch in the first episode...... It's just a place where Yuyu is very scummy. The other thing is the cuteness of Buwei.

Toba: The first episode is a prologue in a sense. And since the second episode, the plot has developed relatively much.

Na-Ga: The movements of the main character, Otosaka, were very interesting to watch, and I think it was a big attraction.

Q: Now that the anime has finally started, would you like to say a few words to the audience?

Asaeda: Well, this time it's a preemptive work, so please stick with it until after the sixth episode (laughs).

Toba: As Mr. Asaeda said, this time it may be a preemptive strike. The first episode is in a sense the work of episode 0.

Na-Ga: As Mr. Asaeda said, it may feel like a late strike, but we did a lot of fun with each episode and carefully explored each character, so I hope you can watch it attentively.
