Runrun + Daisuke! Voices talk about "The Eraser in My Brain"

Perhaps many anime fans are not familiar with a Korean movie called "Eraser in My Brain" (which was later adapted into a Japanese TV series, and the characters' names were changed to Kosuke and Kaoru). The story is about a girl's memory. In the work, Cheol-so is an illegitimate child who works as a worker in a construction company and dreams of becoming an architect. Xiu is really the daughter of a rich family, but she has a very strict amnesia. One day, so-jin mistakes Cheol-so for a homeless man who steals his Coke at a convenience store, and the two don't know each other and fall in love. Soon the two got married, but after marriage, Xiuzhen's memory became stricter and worse, and it was like an eraser erasing everything in her head...... The work has won numerous acclaim in Japan and has been adapted in the form of a stage recitation. This year, the main cast of the sixth stage recital has also been confirmed. Among them are the voice actors who are very familiar to everyone, they are: Jun Fukuyama, Daisuke Ono, Miyuki Sawajo and Takagaki Saiyo. The four of them will play with different people from the entertainment industry, so that the audience can experience the charm of different performers under the same script. So how do these voice actors feel about the work? Recently, a Japanese media conducted an exclusive interview, the full text of which is as follows:

The joy of deciding to appear

Q: Would you like to tell us about the invitation to appear in this work and how you felt when you decided to appear in this work?

Fukuyama: Including this time, this is the fourth time I've been in the show. The first time I participated in this work was three years ago. At that time, I was very happy to be able to appear in this stage recitation drama that was not my own industry. After all, I'm a person who seeks new excitement and encounters.

Sawasaki: It's not the first time I've been in a role, so I'm having fun...... Ah, I don't think it's easy (laughs),

Ono: I always wanted to see this work, but I was surprised that I would also appear in it (laughs).

Takagaki : It's a work I've always loved, but I never had the chance to look at it, and it wasn't until last year that my dream came true. I felt a strong impact on this, and for a while I was almost thinking only about this recitation. I imagined "...... if I played the role of Kaoru", and I strongly wanted to be able to appear in the work myself! So it was a bit unexpected to be able to appear in the work so quickly, but in short, in addition to being happy, I was happy. But at the same time, I found that this role was more difficult than I thought, so I also felt a sense of responsibility in the character.

Q: Have you seen the original work (Japanese TV drama version, Korean movie version), or previous performances of this work?

Ono: I haven't seen it.

Takagaki : I first watched the movie a few years ago, and the scene of Xiuzhen getting sick in front of her family left a very impactful impression on me. I only watched the performance of the recitation drama for the first time last year, and I felt that I exceeded my feelings about the "recitation drama", both the content and the performance were touching and exciting, and I completely forgot that I was in the theater.

Q: What was Mr. Fukuyama's favorite line from his last appearance? Tell me why.

Fukuyama: "Every time I forget jì, I fall in love with Kaoru." It's a part of the story that you might as well read it instead of spending time explaining it (laughs).

Q: What are the plots or lines that impress you?

Fukuyama: I worked very hard to get to the show where the lines appeared, and I found it fascinating when I watched the other performers perform the show. Correspondingly, the scene where the actor recounts the past also makes me very satisfied.

Sawasaki: "No matter how many times you draw your face, you won't get bored."

Ono: Mine is "I'll be your memory".

Takagaki : The conversation between the two when they fell into a relationship, and the line "I love you more than you think". As for the plot of this scene? Please come to the theater and experience it for yourself, and I will feel very happy.

Impressions of their own characters, other characters

Q: What kind of characters do you play (Kosuke or Kaosuke)?

Fukuyama: Kosuke is a person, because of the relationship between the encounter and the environment, he always lives his own life, and he binds himself. And Kaoru's appearance breaks this shackle, so he is not easy to accept Kaoru's existence at first, but once he is emotionally engaged, his love for Kaoru is beyond imagination. Sorry, but I explained it in a way that's hard to understand (laughs).

Sawasaki: Kaoru is an ordinary woman who seems to be around us. It feels like a kind of ideal setting for women.

Ono: He's a gentle and brainless man.

Takagaki is a girl who grew up in a warm family, so she can understand the hurt feelings of others and take action. This also reflects her strong maternal love. Of course, there are also not very bright things in love...... And it is precisely because of the abundance of feelings that you can have the enthusiasm to persevere in one thing to the end. In addition, she is curious, and she is a very active person, both at work and in love. Personally, I have a lot of respect for Kaoru who can write a diary seriously! After participating in the performance, I also hope to discover the characteristics of Kaoru in various aspects.

Q: What are the impressions of the people who played opposite you?

Fukuyama: (At the time of the interview) We hadn't started the show yet, so we didn't have any direct communication with Ms. Yamaguchi (Samika), who was playing the opposite role, but when I was working on the promotional video, I felt that Ms. Yamaguchi had the same expression and aura as Kaoru, and was able to peel off the unproductive Kosuke from the shell of her closed self.

Sawasaki: My partner (Mario Tashiro) is a very smart person who can dexterously grasp the rhythm of the performance. In addition, it is attractive and very discerning!

Ono: I think he's a heroic person. But her (Yui Ichikawa) smile is gentle, it's amazing!

Takagaki : I've been performing with Mr. Higashiyama since last year's musical "ZANNA", and for me, he's a companion and a good friend. This time, I can continue the ...... with Mr. Higashiyama! It's incredible, but it's a lot of fun. Standing alone on the stage with him made me feel like "all the good people are in one place", and I hope that the two of us can give Kosuke and Kaori the most important time in their lives.

As a voice actor, as a performer

Q: As for the voice actors, it's a challenge for you to actually stand on stage, just like this one. So what do the two have in common in terms of how they approach work and how they think about it? What's the difference?

Fukuyama: Actually, there is no difference in the performance itself, but after all, when performing on stage, you have to respond frequently to changes in the state and environment. This is also the interesting thing about the recitation.

Sawashiro: Probably the biggest difference is that the guests in front of you can see you performing.

Ono: In this recital, I had to perform a performance that showed a sudden change in my body. But usually when I am dubbing, I also imagine my body surface xiàn form to pronounce it, so it's essentially the same.

Takagaki : When I'm animating or dubbing, I have to face the microphone and put my thoughts on the characters in the picture, and the stage is a live performance, so I have to put my heart and soul into it...... Although there are different ways and different techniques, these things are common to represent the character to "live" and become one of the creators of a work.

Q: This time, you have taken on the challenge of a new field such as recitation drama and broadened your active world, so what kind of activities do you want to participate in in the future, including voice actors?

Fukuyama: There is no doubt that I have to do a good job of the work that I have at the moment, and I want to be able to respond flexibly to my own changes and expectations. And when it comes to the immediate plan, then I simply hope that my words can be more convincing.

Sawasaki: I hope that I can further improve my skills as a voice actor.

Ono: I think the recitation is actually part of the voice actor's job. In the future, I hope to be able to actively express something that only a voice actor can do as a voice actor.

Takagaki : This is also the first time I've had the opportunity to come across a collection of recitations, so I'm really honored. Recording, Stage, Singing, Video...... Although the methods are different, I hope that I can learn things in a down-to-earth way and have an impact on myself. That's why I want to be able to stand on stage while working as a voice actor in the future. And take on the challenge of many things!

Thoughts and what you want to say about the stage

Q: At the end of the interview, would you like to say a few words to the audience who are new to the work and the fans who have been supporting the work?

Fukuyama: This is a work that can be deeply felt by both first-time and re-viewers, and some people who have not seen this type of work may not quite understand what I mean, but if you try to watch it once, you will feel that it is precisely because of the recitation drama that we can convey and infect us. Therefore, I would like to be honored to invite you to the theater this time. And those who have seen the work in the past hope to enjoy this year's "Eraser in My Mind" of the Recitation Drama. Come and share this wonderful space with us!

Sawashiro: It's not a story that makes people applaud happily, but after watching it, we can appreciate the meaning of looking forward to meeting important people from an entertaining perspective. Generally speaking, after watching a drama, everyone's feelings are different. So what do you think of "The Eraser in My Head"? I'll look forward to it on stage. I'm waiting for you at the theater.

Ono: Thank you very much. In order to give you an impressive performance, I will do my best!

Takagaki : I'm really happy to be able to participate in a work that has had an impact on me, and I think it's a precious fate. This is a work that has an inseparable affection between two people and portrays true love. For those we value, we also double down on our desire to follow them. And in order to express this warmth......! Please come to the theater, I'm waiting for you!
