Yuki Bi talks about the online game "Sword and Soul"
The popular online game "Sword & Soul" has been officially launched in Japan since May 20 this year. At the same time, the TV anime of the same name, which started broadcasting in April, also played a good role in promoting the game itself. In the story, An Ruxiang, a sword master who was raised by the assassination group "Sword Blade Clan", brought us a touching but exciting experience. However, every protagonist needs an opponent, whether it is the game version or the TV animation version, the person who is An Ruxiang's old enemy is Qin Suyan. This role is played by the currently popular voice actor Yuki Bi. And for Yuki Bi, this role also "fulfilled one of his dreams". Recently, the dubbing work of the animated version of "Sword and Soul" was completed, and a Japanese media took advantage of this opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with her. Let's take a look at what Yuki Bi thinks of this work!
■ "When did I have the opportunity to play such a role", and now this anime has helped me realize my dream
Q: Qin So-yeon is a ruthless and mouthless character, and almost no one can associate her with Miss Yumubi. After all, none of the characters you've dubbed before are of that type. How did you decide to cast the role in the first place?
Yuki: When I auditioned, I couldn't figure out if I was voicing an anime character or a game. At this time, I received the line books of Zhen Zhao'e and Qin Suyan at the same time, and I was still puzzled: "Why did you give me Qin Suyan's line book?" Take the wrong one. ”
In fact, the line book was indeed wrong. However, it was not Qin Suyan who was wrong, but Zhen Zhao'e. I was really taken aback at the time (laughs). When I was informed that I would be dubbing Qin So-yeon, I thought in disbelief, "What kind of miracle has happened to me!?" "After all, Qin Suyan is the type I have never tried before, so my heart beats.

Q: In the anime, Qin So-yeon is a character full of mysteries. So from Miss Yuuki's point of view, where is she sacred?
Yuki: There will be a lot of answers to this character in the next episode, but I think she's a "very poor person". If she really is the kind of cold-blooded killer she looks like on the outside, forgetting her human side, then she won't feel pain when killing. But that's not the case.
In the animation, her loneliness and entanglement are portrayed in great detail, and the pain of not being able to be understood also shocked me. Anyway, it's too pitiful to be called a "monster", right? I feel very sad. I almost shouted, "That guy is a girl, too!" "When I was dubbing, I always thought in my heart: "Even if it's just me, I'm going to be Qin Soyan's companion" before performing.
Q: You starred in both the game and the animation version of Qin So-yeon, so what is the difference in acting?
Yuki: In the game, Qin So-yeon has a one-sided conversation with the player in a non-personal way. Therefore, if the player is not playing a character with enough agency, then she has no reason to communicate with the player. I gave her a more sadistic personality, like "If you tell the player about this, it will make the player feel upset".
In the animation, she will also respond passively to the reactions of various characters, and there are many cases of talking to herself. But in general, I don't like to talk to people. The personality is more passive.,It seems to live in a different dimension like other people.,There is often a kind of mental trance.。 Compared to the game, she is more silent in the animation, like a doll. Because of this, it is necessary to use very few lines to show her horror, indifference, and doll-like indifference. I've also made a lot of efforts in this area.
Q: What do you do to show apathy and terror?
Yuki: I can only say my personal opinion on this. I think the first thing you need to do in the so-called voice acting is to imagine the breathing of the character. If it is an energetic child, then it will often "snort" and move, breathing relatively shallowly, and there is a feeling of restlessness. Children who are more calm will breathe slowly. As for Jin So-yeon, I think she is the type who "can't feel breathing", so I try to perform in this way. It's scary that people can still live without breathing, right? When I was dubbing, I breathed in with a very small voice, and it felt as if I was not breathing. This is the basis of everything. Later, when she was emotionally shaken, let her breath slowly change with this wavering. Since this is a very combat-ready type, you will definitely take a deep breath when fighting. One can imagine the image of her rushing to her destination in one go. Those are the questions I was concerned about when I created this character.
Q: I was also very touched by what you said about these techniques. It seems that Miss Yuki Bi also has her own theory of acting.
Yuki: The voice actor first creates the "shell" of the character. The so-called shell is the level of the voice and the breathing problem just mentioned. When I was performing, I felt that it would be easier to get into the play if I thought about it theoretically. On the other hand, the emotional and psychological changes of the characters need to be judged by their own perceptions and feelings. And the role of Qin Suyan, even in the works, there are few characters as difficult to grasp as her. She's a smart, super-intelligent being, and I can't figure out what she's thinking. At this time, I needed to understand and so on, and I played it with my heart and became one with this character.

Q: I think Qin So-yeon is a type that Miss Yuki has never challenged, how do you feel about this?
Yuki: I really learned a lot from Qin So-yeon. This child is 175cm tall, which is not the same body type as me at all (note: Yumu Bi is 145cm tall). In order to synchronize with her aura, I also found it difficult to control my voice. And when I expanded my chest and breathed harder, I could feel her tall physique. This is where I learned. After all, I've never played a role taller than 160cm before (laughs).
Q: In other words, with the role of Qin So-yeon, the range of roles that you can play has also expanded.
Yuki: It's really expanded. And I think it's a dream come true. I've always hoped to have the opportunity to try to play a role like Qin Suyan, but I thought I might not have a chance in my life. I'm still in a state of getting to know Qin So-yeon, and the game will continue to work for a long time, so I hope to continue to dig into her in the future. TV animation is nearing its end, and the world of online games is still expanding. So I'm going all out to play an "S"! If you have fun watching the anime, please play the game.
Q: Tell us about the appeal of the online game version of Sword & Soul?
Yuki: Personally, Qin Suyan in the game version is extremely S, and she is the most S of the characters I have dubbed. The game is more S than the TV anime! Please enjoy the game with the mood of "Let's play with Yuki from now on~". In addition to Qin Suyan, there will be many charismatic characters in the work. And most importantly, isn't the fun of MMOs just the ability for players to create their own characters? And his "child" is, of course, the most beloved. Please create "I think the strongest beautiful girl" and have fun (laughs).
Q: If you were able to enter the world of Sword and Soul, what would Miss Yugibi do?
Yuki: If it's a game, then I want to be a character who is infinitely close to Qin So-yeon. I have a dream that the name of the game character will be "Yumu Bi" and then start the game! And if it's an animation, I'd like to be able to work in a hotel in Sharp River.
I'm not going to be able to fight, so I'm sure I'll be killed as soon as I get on the field (laughs). If I enter the world of animation, I will introduce myself to Rui Helang: "I work with people in another job. ”
Q: Now that the TV anime is about to come to an end, I would like to ask you to say a few words about it.
Yumu: In the last episode, Qin So-yeon will usher in the most exciting plot in the work. In the past, when I was dubbing, sometimes I only needed to breathe because of the plot, but I was complained by others at the dubbing scene that I was a "thief who cheated on the recording fee" (laughs). But at the end of the anime, I made my voice with a sense of wonder if my voice was going to be destroyed. In the last episode, I believe that the audience will understand what she was thinking about and feel the deep sadness in her heart.
Because of the mindset of fighting alongside her, I felt like I was overloaded with adrenaline and couldn't sleep at all after the recording of the last episode...... In short, I tried my best to play Qin Suyan with such a mentality, so I hope everyone can see the most reluctant. Then I will be very happy.
Q: Thank you for your time today!
