Interview with Haruko Iizuka, the theatrical version of "Jade Ring".

The first part of the theatrical version of the animation "Graduation Photo" "Bud" is scheduled to be released in Japan on April 4. As a commemoration, the official website will release a series of small interviews with the members of the production and voice actors about the work. Now the first round of the small interview has been officially launched.,The interview is Haruko Iizuka, who is responsible for the character setting and general painting supervision of this work.。

At the same time, the design drawings of 6 characters were also revealed, including two new characters who will appear in the theatrical version - Uchida Aya as Kondo and Iizuka Mayuki as Maeda Suzune. Haruko Iizuka talks about her views on each character in this interview, so let's take a closer look.

――The settings of the main characters of "Yuxiang Graduation Photo" have all been updated. Why did you decide to update?

Iizuka: I proposed it to Superintendent Sato. At first, I didn't mention yì unofficially, but instead I drew Kaoru with her hair cut short and showed it to him, and asked him for his opinion (laughs). In reality, girls can't have the same hairstyle all year round. Some people change their hairstyle once they move up a grade, and I hope to be able to add that change. Since it's a different ending from the past, let's make some visual changes for the audience to see.

――Did you want to change your hairstyle before?

Iizuka: Rie Nai and Mayne have already changed their hairstyles in previous episodes, but Kaoru has always had a double ponytail. Outfits (with double ponytails) are always a bit androgynous. Never wore a skirt other than a uniform.

――When you say that, I realize that this is indeed the case.

Iizuka: So I wanted to try to change Kaoru's hairstyle. This hairstyle should be able to wear a skirt. Originally, Rie and Mayin were already very few women.,In order to increase the change, I deliberately made her a little more neutral.。 I hope Kaoru will change her outfit a little bit so that people will pay more attention to her (laughs).

- Ah, I remember that panda thing...... (laughs).

Iizuka: Izuka will make her more fashionable in the future.

――Now for the questions I need to ask about each character. Xiao Feng doesn't seem to have changed much, right?

Iizuka: In the process of growing up, I became a little more mature. A large part of the reason for this change may be due to the change in my painting style. The original painting was set in 2010, and the current painting is completely different from the original painting. This is also for this reason. In Graduation Photo, I was the general art supervisor (the position responsible for the overall style and quality of the work), and if the animators were to draw according to the 2010 setting, and I changed it to a completely different (now) style, the scene would be chaotic.

――In other words, isn't it something you subjectively want to change?

Iizuka: I haven't changed the settings too much. In the story, let the audience see the various changes in Xiaofeng's growth process.

-- Kaoru-chan's iconic double ponytail was cut off.

Iizuka: I think it's more like a big sister this way. Wouldn't it be nice to protect everyone's Kaoru while changing herself? Moreover, isn't it even more exciting for a child who has been tying his hair to suddenly put his hair down? (laughs)

――Very good (laughs). The position of Rie's hair has become lower.

Iizuka: I used to do this a lot when I drew the private version. When I entered my third year of high school, it didn't seem good to tie my hair that high (laughs). After changing the position of the hair tie, the overall impression also changed a lot.

――It seems to be quieter.

Iizuka: There is no change in my expression. I hope you can guess the future development of the plot from the changes in appearance.

――Mayin's hair has grown a little longer.

Iizuka: I don't know what to make Main's hairstyle. She seems to be a little lazy, so she must have grown her hair long (laughs). What's more, after Kaoru cut her hair short, the length of their hair was too similar, so she made her hair longer.

――Please tell us about the two new characters in "Graduation Photo", Yumi Shinto and Suzune Maekawa.

Iizuka: In order to prevent me from drawing new characters in the future, I've already been drawing several alternate new characters (laughs). I let Sato supervise and the producer pick it out. The characteristic of Suzune is simply glasses. Having glasses makes it more difficult to draw, and to be honest, I don't want glasses to appear. Because it's the end, and there should be an audience who likes glasses. Qiaomei's characteristic is the three-strand braid. Speaking of which, I don't think I've ever drawn anything like this before. Then there's the stockings. Finally, a child in stockings appeared!

――Qiaomei seems to be a very lively child.

Iizuka: Because of this, in order to make it easier for her to wear a skirt and move, she also painted a petticoat. I drew it myself before Superintendent Sato brought it up (laughs).

――As the chief painting supervisor, you should have started to work by now. Finally, I would like to hear you express your enthusiasm for "Yuxiang Graduation Photo".

Iizuka: In the previous "Tamakobiki", I was not able to participate in the production of zuò due to my working hours, but I was able to participate in the final stage in a solid manner. In "Graduation Photo", you should be able to see Xiao Feng's richer expression than before...... In order to realize this wish, I want to believe in my potential and keep working hard (laughs). I don't know the plot of the finale at all, but I'll make sure that the picture doesn't lose to Xiao Feng's growth. To be honest, Kaede is a very difficult character to draw, and I haven't fully grasped her yet, hoping to get to know her better so that everyone can see her perfect smile and tears at the end.
