Q: Thank you both for taking the time to do the interview. I would like to ask about the stories of the two who are active as manga artists, as well as their representative works...... Please advise me here.

Shengshi: Please give me a lot of advice (take out the paper with a sigh).

Qi Shi: What are you doing with the paper?

Sheng Shi: I took it myself to take notes. I've summarized what I want to say today.

Q: You can also see the differences in the personalities of the brothers?

Qi Shi: That's it. I've been lazy since I was a kid, and he's nervous. Usually when you talk to him, he will never give in. This is true even for trivial things, such as who will turn off the lights before going to bed. Because I know him very well, I have no choice but to give in most cases.

Shengshi: Although he always says that he is lazy and lazy, Qi Shi will immediately become a person as long as he talks about comics. Usually lazy at home, but for the sake of comics, I can look up information everywhere to find information...... In short, he is a man of action.

Q: What kind of children were you two children when you were young?

Qi Shi: We are both children raised by our grandmothers. And my grandmother gave us a very good education, so I always maintained the image of a serious child at school and other places.

Shengshi: Qi Shi is meticulous even when he writes his homework. However, because of my grandmother's education, we still sang military songs in kindergarten...... It may seem like a strange child (laughs).

Qi Shi: In terms of play, we were all obsessed with clay zuò when we were in kindergarten.

Sheng Shi: At that time, it was very popular to have a work called "Star Fleet", and we looked at the machine in it and imitated it.

Qi Shi: Of course, painting is also something that I have loved since I was a child. But in kindergarten, I was still obsessed with making clay into solid objects.

Q: In other words, you have been interested in creating since childhood.

Qi Shi: Because the family is strict, they won't buy us toys. So if you have a toy you want, you have to make it yourself. We enjoy the process of making zuò more than the finished product......

Sheng Shi: On the one hand, creation is one thing, but on the other hand, we are also obsessed with works such as machine and human animation. Now I still remember the theme song of "Fighter Mech Safingal" and something, it was a very cool song, and I really liked it.

Qi Shi: Speaking of "Fighter Mecha Safingal"...... We've had some debates. I thought the work should be called "Sabengel", but he said it was "Safingal", so we tried to determine who was going to watch the live stream, and I got it wrong...... Actually, it's still confusing.

Shengshi: There is such a thing (laughs). Heck, the two of us have never changed our preference for the works of the machine, but we have never been able to get the opportunity to buy toys...... Therefore, the plastic figurines we want can only be made up for by drawing, and so the content of our play gradually changes from clay to painting.

Q: Listen to what you two said, and sure enough. Since they are brothers, they will also be the closest playmates.

Qi Shi: But to be honest, I actually hate playing with him...... Heck, anyway, because all the friends around us are common, so we'll still be together.

Shengshi: Aren't children usually saying swear words like "your mother XXXX" when they quarrel? But when I quarrel with Qi Shi, I think, "Huh? Isn't Qi Shi's mother also my mother? (laughs)

Qi Shi: It's really (laughs). Although it is rare to have a big fight, when it does, it often feels like a loss. Not only is it tiring, but it is also very troublesome...... After all, the other party is still a family member, and they have to face it when they go home.

Shengshi: And we also watch anime together, and once we talk hotly, we forget about quarrels. Oops, that's bro.

Q: What kind of manga do you both like?

Shengshi: When I was in elementary school, I guess it was "Doraemon" and "Muscle Man" or something like that.

Qi Shi: I like "Aralei" and "Dragon Ball" more. Our family didn't buy manga, so we would go to the scrap collection place in the elementary school to pick up JUMP and come back and read it together.

Q: On the one hand, you read comics, and on the other hand, you copy your favorite characters, right?

Qi Shi: yes. In particular, I was deeply moved by Akira Toriyama's paintings, so I copied a lot of them.

Sheng Shi: I also drew a lot of things from "Flesh Man". I have a lot of love for the characters in my works. Although I'm not very good at dealing with the "handsome heroes" of the royal road.

Qi Shi: Although it was two people reading comics together, the brothers' perspectives were also different. For example, Seishi is more interested in the role of the work, but I'm more interested in the style of the work......

Shengshi: So Qi Shi prefers to copy "Dragon Ball" than "Flesh Man".

Seishi: Of course, we used to be obsessed with shonen jump works, but after junior high school, we both fell in love with AKIRA.

Qi Shi: It was because I knew about this work that I decided to become a cartoonist.

Q: Oh!? Can you tell us what kind of opportunity you ......?

Qi Shi: I saw the poster of "AKIRA" when I was in the second year of junior high school. It was a great shock...... In retrospect, I rarely even experienced such an impact.

Shengshi: It can be said that it was the turning point in Qi Shi's life.

Qi Shi: Originally, I wanted to make a living by drawing, but when I saw the poster, I made it clear that I wanted to become a cartoonist. Anyway, it was decided at that moment.

Q: How can you make Mr. Qi Shi so excited...... That's amazing. So what influence did Mr. Shengshi decide to become a cartoonist because of the influence of his works?

Saint: I don't. I never thought I'd be a manga artist. Comics are just Cheng dù who likes to read and takes them as an interest. So after graduating from high school, I went to work for a regular local transportation company.

Qi Shi: I think it must have been that after Sheng Shi saw me start serializing, he thought, "Qi Shi can be a cartoonist, so I can too" (laughs).

Shengshi: Not (laughs). The main reason is that I didn't think too much about it when I was looking for a job, and it didn't have much value to work. While there's nothing wrong with going on like this, precious time is lost after all. Even while I was working, I didn't give up drawing. So I felt that what I really liked was manga, so I had the idea of doing something I liked...... That's why I thought of becoming a manga artist.

Qi Shi: Oh, I've loved drawing since I was a kid. It's only natural to think about it......

Q: After becoming a manga artist myself, my younger brother also aims to become a manga artist...... So what was Mr. Qi Shi's mood at that time?

Qi Shi: Compared to me, who wanted to be a cartoonist since I was a child, I feel that Shengshi is very stupid and naïve.

Q: Okay, so good!! This should still be the difference in thinking between the two for many years, right?

Qi Shi: That's true...... After all, there are differences in the timing and method of working towards the goal. I was in high school, so even though I wanted to spend my time on manga, I still had to put a lot of effort into studying. On the other hand, at that time, Shengshi had a lot of time, so he was able to do what he liked. If he had wanted to be a manga artist and worked hard to draw, he would have had better results now.

Shengshi: That's why Qi Shi was very strict with me who wanted to become a manga artist later.

Qi Shi: Of course, there is also a mood to cheer for him...... It's just that I might feel a little uneasy.

Q: The other party is an older brother and a senior writer, so this kind of reprimand will also be very stressful......

Shengshi: yes. I used to say that I would take the work to Shonen JUMP to see it, and he was furious.

Qi Shi: At that time, Seishi didn't understand the meaning of "Shonen Jump" at all. It seems that he is just a man who wants to be a manga artist, but after watching JUMP, he calmly says "interesting". I was already fighting other serializers, so I didn't think he was ready to win. If you submit with this kind of thought, you have no chance of winning.

Shengshi: I didn't really understand Qi Shi's stern attitude at the time, but after I became a serializer, I suddenly realized it. The pain of creating a plot, the pressure of serialized works...... Because my thoughts are very naïve, I really encountered a lot of difficulties after my debut, and being a cartoonist is more troublesome than I imagined.
