A: Thanks to the joint efforts of all the people involved in the production, the two works can have such a rich plot development, and I feel that I have done everything I can! Also, if you watch the work, how do you evaluate it after watching the work "Washio Sumi" or "Yuki Yuna" together? I'd love your feedback. And my current mood can only be described with the sentence "do your best to know the destiny of heaven". Both of these works are designed to make it so that everyone will not feel disobedient when they look at it separately, but it would be great if after reading "Washio Sumi", you can have a deeper understanding of the worldview of "Yuuki Yuna". Or if I don't know about "Washio Sumi" and just watch "Yuki Yuna", and I can get pleasure from this series of works, then my original intention has been achieved. Q: What was the process of the original project for "Washio Sumi" coming to fruition?

A: First of all, before the birth of "Washio Sumi", the animation plan for "Yuuki Yuna is a Brave" was decided even earlier. At this time, I told the people at Dengeki G'smagazine about this project. Speaking of "Dengeki G'smagazine", I myself have been awarded "Please Seriously Fall in Love with Me!" with minatosoft before. and have had some dealings with that side. And the other party said, "I'd like to create some projects with you." So I thought that I could serialize a story with the world view of "Yuki Yuna is a Brave", so as to realize the linkage between works. So, I decided to start writing "Washio Sumi".

Q: In that case, you first had the story and world view of Yuuki Yuna is a Brave, and then you started writing Washio Sumi.

A: Yes. While watching Washio Sumi alone can be enjoyable to read, for those who have already watched Yuuki Yuuki Yuki, it would be even more interesting if you could follow the work in a way that looks for connections between works. This is the idea that I decided on from the very beginning of the project.

Q: You wrote with the two works in mind, so what are some of the things you care about the most?

A: Since I was thinking about the stories of two works at the same time and then promoting the plots, I couldn't let the pace of one side be too fast and spoil each other, so I was very careful to carefully match the time when the works were released while looking at the calendar. Also, the biggest key to the work is "Washio Sumi = Togo Mimori". I thought very carefully: how on earth do you keep people from noticing this fact? That said, I can't completely avoid the connection between the two characters, so I kept the clue that "they are the same person". For example, Mamori's hairstyle retains the mark of Sumi, and Mamori wears a headband on Nogi Sonoko's head, which are some clues. Sonoko tied a headband to the back of her head, so it wasn't easy for people to notice, but to my surprise, it quickly became apparent, so the saying "Washio Sumi = Togo Mimori" appeared earlier than I thought (laughs). But it's also the result of a lot of thought in the reasoning process, and it's very happy that people can interpret it.

Q: In the process of writing, are there any plots that impress you in particular?

A: This is naturally the plot of the death of the three wheels of silver in episode 4. Honestly, I still feel guilty from time to time. That being said, Gin's death here is an impressive event for the worldview of Yuki Yuna is a Brave, and even in the worldview of Washio Sumi, her sacrifice makes the upgrade of the Brave system inevitable. However, from the perspective of the three parties, they did not do anything wrong, and from a personal point of view, they also hate cruel death, so I hope to show the essence of "brave" in them through the plot of guò. As a result, this sixth-grade girl ushered in her end with the attitude of "standing tall even though she died". This form is very pure and gentlemanly. And what I want to express in my heart is: The spirit of fighting desperately for the sake of one's companions is actually regardless of gender and age, right? Speaking of which, the plot that began to be recalled in episode 5 also has the purpose of downplaying the "death of Silver" at the end of episode 4, but personally, I still have some love for Silver, so I hope to write more stories about her.

Q: When you created the characters, what kind of mood did you let the three brave men have?

A: First of all, Sumi is a very serious kid no matter what. In addition, she is the protagonist, so I want her to grow spiritually, so I deliberately gave her a more rigid feeling. In the era of "Yuuki Yuna is a Brave", some people may feel that her personality is a little nuanced, but that is also because she met Yuna when she was changing schools and was pestered by her for more than a year. Because of Tokina's relationship, she has become more reasonable (laughs). As for the part that I like about the military aspect, I wrote about it somewhat during the Sumi period. For example, there is a plot where she can draw battleships very delicately. Compared to the hard-working Sumi, the garden is a genius child. In terms of literacy, Sonoko is in a better position than Sumi. However, although Sumi seemed a little complicated in front of the garden, she also admitted the gap in literacy and supported each other. I hope you can see her grow in this area. Although the garden is very natural, it is still a very reliable child at critical moments. A: Silver and Xia Rin are actually completely unrelated in terms of blood relationship, but they are very close in terms of both the fitness value and quality of the brave, so the terminal will be inherited by her. Q: Mr. Bunbun was in charge of the three people, so what did you explain to him?

A: This is a person with outstanding painting skills, so I told him: if you use flowers to describe the types of three people, then Sumi is a chrysanthemum, a garden is a rose, and silver is a peony, and this is how they look and feel.
