Every year, a large number of newcomers emerge in the Japanese voice actor industry, and for this reason, the Japanese media specially produced a program called "New Voice Actor Illustrated Guide". The show interviews and reports on some of the most promising rookie voice actors, to understand the behind-the-scenes stories of their entry into the industry, and their prospects for the future. In the latest issue of the "Rookie Voice Actor Guide", we will introduce Pan Huimei, who has performed well in works such as "Full-Time Hunter" (Jay Fulux) and "Jewel Pet Happiness" (Moon Shadow Chiari).

Q: What was the reason why Ms. Poon became a voice actress?

PJ: My mother (Pan Keija) is a voice actress, so she was influenced by that. I've known about the job of "voice actor" since I was 4 or 5 years old, but I didn't dream about it from the bottom of my heart until elementary school. When I was in the lower grades of elementary school, I read "Full-Time Hunter" and that was the initial opportunity. I went to a friend's house to play, and I saw "Weekly Shonen Jump", and the random page I opened was the coloring page of the first episode of the serialization of "Full-Time Hunter". It was the first time I had read a shonen manga, so I was really excited and excited, and I was so excited that the boys in the shonen manga were so handsome compared to the shoujo manga (laughs), which filled me with longing. This work was quickly adapted into a TV anime, and I watched it every week, and then I was first hooked on the voice actors who starred in this work.

Q: So what exactly do you want to do?

P: Adult women can voice a teenage character. It's something that makes me feel like a dream, and I'm very impressed that my job as a voice actor can really do that. After that, I started listening to the voice actors' broadcasts, and I watched their character songs, radio drama CDs, and musicals. In addition to anime, I discovered that voice actors can express their voices in a variety of fields, such as blowing and narration, and it made me realize what kind of active profession this is, and I became more and more interested.

Q: Previously, Ms. Pan also had a wide range of appearances in live-action works and stage plays!

PJ: When I was a freshman, I wanted to learn acting, and then I saw an audition for the public in a magazine, and that was an opportunity. Although it was an audition for the film, and I really only participated by chance. But because of this fate and timing, I was able to have the opportunity to experience a variety of experiences in the fields of film and stage plays.

Q: Ms. Pan has been working as a voice actor since 3 years ago.

PJ: I've had a dream of being a voice actor since 15 years ago, and I'm really happy to be auditioned for Hunter Full Time. At the beginning, I auditioned for the role of Xiaojie, but this was only to be assigned to other roles after entering the audition, so I really didn't expect to be able to voice Xiaojie at first. It was only at the moment I accepted the audition that I had the idea of "dubbing Xiaojie". Of course, I have a strong idea for this work, so when I actually got this role, I was pleasantly surprised, and on the other hand, I felt lonely and sad.

Q: Loneliness and sadness?

Pan: Because this is the 2011 version, and I watched the old version. Faced with the fact that Xiaojie back then will now be dubbed by someone else (me), this mood is still very complicated. And this is not a sequel to that year, but a new interpretation. It's because I like this work that I don't want my memories of "Full-Time Hunter" to be ruined, and I still want to act.

Q: Can you digest this complex emotion on your own?

Pan: I thought to myself, "It's because of the previous "Full-Time Hunter" that I have today's work. Since it has been decided that I am going to star, it will be a very unfortunate thing if I don't go all out, and this kind of affection is very strong. This also has a bit of a tribute in it. I can hold my head high and say: Because I had that work 16 years ago, now the little jie I dubbed can save zài!

Q: Do you think that the way of animation dubbing is different from that of live-action dramas and stage plays?

Pan: At the beginning, there was a very difficult point, which was that "my body can't move around, I can't have too complicated expressions, and I need to use the guò character to make a qiē table xiàn". Whether you are laughing, crying, or angry, if you can't reflect this emotion in your voice, you won't be successful. Therefore, the things that an actor values should come from his daily life. This truth made me realize it again. Something delicious, something that is happy, something that you think is beautiful...... This feeling can become a valuable asset in acting. I deeply felt the close connection between this profession and my life, so I paid attention to my feelings and feelings every day.

Q: Have you ever had a moment when you were fully engaged in dubbing?

Pan: Xiaojie's joys, sorrows and sorrows are very obvious, and he often has scenes of screaming or laughing. But it's hard to get a laugh at first. Although in daily life, we can laugh very casually, but if we want to use acting skills to keep a smile, it is also a challenge for the abdominal muscles, and it is also physically demanding, and when acting xiàn, except for the voice of the character, you can't make extra sounds. However, when I thought that I had to absorb all the nutrients that I could absorb in the dubbing scene, I would have a moment when I was dubbing, "Ah Xiaojie is this style", so I felt relieved. At that time, I really felt like I was a good fit for the role.

Q: So, did you come across any work that was a turning point in your voice actor career?

Pan: It must be HappinessCharge! "That's it. I had my first voice actor audition experience during the "Full-Time Hunter" period, but about "HappinessCharge Hikari Pretty Girl!" The role of Snow White in "is also a character that I always have to audition for, but always don't get a chance. And in the end, I finally got my chance and won the role. At that time, I thought, "If you keep imagining, your wish will come true." I've become a beautiful girl of light! "Before transforming into a beautiful girl of light, Shirayukihime-chan lived an ordinary life just like all of us. But when this girl becomes a beautiful girl of light, I'm afraid that all the girls who watch the work will have a strong sense of substitution and resonance, right? My own feelings are also mixed in.

Q: Which of your recent works has left a deep impression on you?

PJ: This is "Tokyo Aftermath", which just aired a few days ago. The 3-month dubbing time is very short, and in the 11 episodes, we see a huge plot structure...... I'm always nervous about it. NINE's voice actor Mr. Ishikawa Kaito, TWELVE's voice actor Mr. Soma Saito, and Risa's voice actress Ms. Atsumi Tanesaki were all acting with me for the first time, and we were all relatively close in age, so it felt like we were all part of the same team...... Whether it's in our private lives or in our work, whether it's performance or anything else, we're always chatting together. It was a very happy time. Although the content of the work is very strict, the dubbing scene is very warm and happy. Mr. Shunsuke Sakino, who voiced Chai Qi, was also the person I co-starred with when I first stepped on stage, so it was very reassuring.

Q: The character of Five is a little different from the type of character that Ms. Pan has played before.

PANG: Yes. If you distinguish between good and evil, Five should be a villain in the plot. There are many thoughts in her heart, but the position is still evil. It's different from the roles I've played before, so I'm very happy when I perform.

Q: Which of the works has left a deep impression on you?

PJ: A movie called Charlie. I voiced Charlie Howard in it. It's an adaptation of Stephen Edwin King's original work, and about 30 years ago, my mother played the original Charlie, and I'm voicing the character again like a reincarnation. And this time, my mother played Charlie's mother. I've also played the role of Chloe Grace Moretz before, so this time it's a bit of fate to voice her again. And when Chloe-chan came to Japan, our mother and son had a conversation with her! It's a great memory, and it also fulfills my filial piety to my mother, which makes me feel very happy. Although this work itself is a horror film, in the horror, it also portrays the fear hidden in people's hearts...... It's a very special work...... I always seem to appear in special works (laughs).

Q: In the game, Ms. Pan has also appeared in some popular works. Which of them impressed you the most?

P: The Last of Us is a work. This is made by a well-known company called NAUGHTYDOGG, and it has won wide expectations abroad. And when I entered the world of the game, I found that the world view exceeded my expectations. This desolate world is plagued by viruses and the player has to take down zombies, which has an element of action. But I think it's a story that embodies humanity even more. Although Joel, who is voiced by Mr. Koichi Yamaji, and Elli, who plays Eri, are not relatives, they are like father and daughter, and the relationship between the two even goes beyond family affection. The game is like a movie, both the graphics and the music are very beautiful, I hope everyone can play and watch it.

Q: So, what is the happiest thing in Ms. Pan's personal life recently?

Pan: Happy thing...... There are a lot of them. It's a personal life, but it's still related to work, and I went to see Mitsumi's musical before. Sit in your seat and watch the stage with the children. And the children cheered for Guangmei with all their might, and even their parents clenched their fists together, which made me sigh: I will also get such support in front of the TV audience, right? And the way the children shouted with all their strength also made my heart move.

Q: What type of voice actress does Ms. Pan want to become in the future?

PJ: I've voiced different types of characters, but I have one goal, which is to try to play the Super Villain! Usually when I watch other works, it's easy to substitute my feelings into the villain. However, what I want to try is the kind of villain who can't feel a sense of substitution, who hates it from the bottom of my heart, and thinks "I'm going to beat that guy"! Of course, at the same time, I also wanted to voice the protagonist who defeated this character...... It's insatiable (laughs).

Also, I want to feel like I'm playing while I'm playing. Recently, I think there is a difference between "playing" and "messing around". It's not that it's noisy, but it's able to make everyone who voices together laugh. This kind of play makes sense. For example, sometimes we don't stare at the TV while cooking, but the sound from the TV occasionally draws our eyes away. I wish I could make that voice and become such an actor.

Q: What would you like to say to the readers who read this interview?

PJ: I attach great importance to one thing – to live a good life every day. There are happy things in life and unhappy things, but because of this, people can feel anticipated and happy every day. And if I can express this feeling to the audience through my works, then it would be great.
