Chapter 155: The Sunset Is Infinitely Good
1
Hearing Tao Jin shouting like this, Xiye and Xiaoxiao hurriedly ran over: "Isn't it just a small space for burning incense and worshiping Buddha, what's strange?"
"The words on this stone tablet have rows of grass, which is not ordinary compared to those." Tao Jin looked hard at the top of the slate, "Old classmate, this also mentions Emperor Xiao Yan of Liang Wu." β
"Oh, then I'll have to see." Nishino tilted his head, stretched his neck and got into the stone cave, and sure enough, there was a stone stele, about 80 cm long and 50 cm wide, which was densely engraved with words, all of which were traditional characters, which was difficult for Nishino.
He studied for five minutes until he was dizzy, and then withdrew: "The earliest history of this temple has been moved forward by at least another 1,000 years, which is very valuable for research. β
Xiaoxiao couldn't help but be curious, and probed into the stone mortar like Nishino to inspect it, and soon she denied Nishino's opinion: "This is a remnant monument, if it is taken out of context and hastily concluded, it is blasphemy and disrespect to the gods." Personally, I think that the age of this monument should be at the end of the Ming Dynasty, not the Southern Liang as you said. β
"Really?" Nishino went around to the sides of the stone pier and turned over a stone tablet buried in the earth, but unfortunately it was full of moss and the handwriting was blurred. He picked up some hay on the ground and gently brushed the dirt off it. Xiaoxiao saw a piece of discarded red silk on the ground, grabbed it and rubbed it back and forth on the stone tablet.
"What are you doing?" Nishino stopped Xiaoxiao in time and spread out his hand, "Go get me some water......"
"Where is the water in the barren mountains and mountains?" Laughing and muttering.
"Yes. Where there is a temple, there must be a source of water. Nishino looked left and right a few times and pointed to the right, "Lookββ, there's a stone jar there, and there's water!" β
Xiaoxiao walked in the direction Nishino pointed out, and a cool mountain spring water flowed out of the bamboo pipe, collecting in the large stone tank with algae, and the water flow was not too small or small. There are more than a dozen small shrimps swimming around in the stone tank, leisurely!
Xiaoxiao took the bamboo tube (with a handle) from a dry tree in the stone tank, put it in the water and washed it many times, before he was relieved to pick up the spring water under the water pipe, and it was filled with water after a while.
The temperature was too high, Xiaoxiao's throat was already dry and smoking, and he drank the spring water in the bamboo tube when he raised his head, and his whole body suddenly felt cool, and there was an indescribable comfort. This water is incomparable to the tap water in the city, sweet and delicious, without any pollution and impurities, and is praised as a sacred spring by Buddhist believers. Every time they come here to worship, they have to carry some back with bamboo tubes or water bags, which are said to ward off disasters and prolong life.
Xiaoxiao soaked the red silk in the stone jar for a while, filled it with a bamboo tube of spring water, and then returned to the stone tablet. Nishino took the water, splashed it on the surface of the tablet, gently removed the dust with red silk, and continued to fetch water with a smile......
It was not easy to clean up the impurities on the stele, and Nishino squatted by the stele for a long time, shaking his head: "This stele is a donation merit monument in the early years of the Republic of China, and it has little historical value. β
After tossing for a long time, there was no new discovery. Nishino was very disappointed, he walked around the stone temple a few times, saw that there were two white jade stone piers on the top of the temple, thought for a while, and then walked up to a wooden plank on the side of the stone jar and climbed to the top of the temple (with a platform on it).
"There are reliefs around this stone, do you want to come up and take a look?" Nishino stood on the platform and asked Tao Jin and Xiaoxiao.
Tao Jin also jumped up along the plank, observing the contents of the temple on the platform.
"I'm not coming up." Xiaoxiao took a few steps back, stepped on a small mound, and almost fell, and when he looked back, a white jade stone was exposed on the side of the mound, "Hey, there is a stone tablet here!" β
Nishino jumped down as soon as he flew down, and landed right in front of the monument, he leaned over to take a look, and saw a few words on the head of the monument: Qing Ji Ming Gong!
"Hehe, Qingming, isn't it the Qing Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty? The credit of the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty inherited ...... Tao Jin, can you see if there is a hoe in the temple?"
"Okay." Tao Jin looked carefully at the platform for a while, and finally found a rusty hoe and a shovel, and he grabbed a stone pillar at the edge of the platform with both hands, and climbed down.
"Nishino, pay attention, I threw the hoe out-" Tao Jin threw the stone out of the stone wall, probably with too much force, and the hoe slammed heavily on the stone pier protrusion at the temple entrance, "Click-" The hoe immediately broke in two.
Nishino stepped on the stone and took off the hoe, but fortunately, half of the hoe was still usable. Nishino held the hoe in both hands and dug up on the mound, and in twenty minutes the dusty stele was rediscovered.
Maybe it's been buried in the dirt for too long, and the inscription is full of mud and moss, and it has to be cleaned, which is really troublesome.
"Otherwise, if we move it to the stone jar, it will be much easier to clean." Nishino lifted the end of the stele alone.
"Well, great idea!" Xiaoxiao also made a move, and she and Tao Jin raised the other end......
2
The three of them slowly placed the stele on the edge of the large stone jar, and naturally handed over the work of removing mud and dirt to Xiaoxiao.
Cleaning is a meticulous job, tired and smiling and sweating, finally cleaned up.
"Nishino, I've been busy for most of the day for a stone tablet, am I worth it?" Xiaoxiao wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead.
"The ancients left us such precious information, it's worth it!" Nishino studied it word by wordβ
Twenty-one Shi said: The most charity is not Liang Wu, the yin is huge, and it is incomparably called Sima Qian. The Husband ...... The head of the famous mountains of Guangdong and Chu, Fujin Purple Mountain, is the origin of Kunlun, and the remnants of Daiyue are swinging. It is not far away, and the two come to Qianfeng, which is ...... Xiao Han, Xia Ze County is connected to the west of Guangdong on the left, and Wushan in the south lake on the right, such as the Beichen arch Surabaya, like the rotation of the coiling dragon. The mountains and rivers are beautiful......
"Old classmates, they're all some people, can you explain?" Tao Jin couldn't understand what Nishino was saying.
"I'm not just explaining, but I'm also going to combine all these inscriptions and briefly argue about it." Nishino sat down cross-legged on the stone jar, like a stone Buddha, and explained in a tone and frustration-
Since Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty, Buddhism has flourished unprecedentedly, with temples being built throughout the country and the number of monks surging. Located in the border of Huguang and Guangdong, the first of the famous mountains in Chu and Guangdong, the Golden Purple Mountain, is the center of Buddhist activities in the two places.
Judging from the few inscriptions found so far, the Lingshan Buddhist temple mentioned in the "Qing Ji Ming Gong" should be the earliest temple with existing written records. Because the stone temple (rebuilt in the Shunzhi period) was razed in the early days, the whereabouts of various stone tablets about Buddhist events before the Ming Sizong are unknown, and there is no way to know the details of the historical changes of the Lingshan Buddhist Temple from the Southern Qi Dynasty to the end of the Ming Dynasty.
In the seventh year of Chongzhen (1634), after the Lingshan native Pan Yingdou was raised, he returned to his hometown in brocade (Chongzhen was a new science and technology jinshi, awarded the three provinces to patrol more than four products, and was equivalent to the deputy secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection), presided over the repair of the civil structure of the temple Lingshan Temple, and the incense flourished again, which lasted for more than ten years.
After the death of the Ming Dynasty, Hunan and Guangxi were the sphere of influence of the Southern Ming Dynasty, and the anti-Qing forces and the Qing army competed fiercely. Lingshan Fansha is located in the main road of Huguang, condescending, is the military base of the Southern Ming army to attack, retreat and defend, and echoes with the beacon tower of the two provinces and three places of Erbaoding.
When the Southern Ming army was defeated and retreated to Guangxi in Wugang Prefecture, the temple was one of the military strongholds against the Qing Dynasty. There was no supply from the imperial court, the number of believers dropped sharply, the monks fled, and the temple was unsustainable.
Since then, the scale of the temple has shrunk greatly, the hall is rotten, the walls are falling and cracking, and it is in danger. The host of the Lingshan Fansha had nowhere to live, so he had to build a round thatched hut and stick to this place for the sake of Bayun Nunnery.
The Qing army completely occupied Hunan, and social order gradually settled down. In order to buy people's hearts and appease the remnants of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Shunzhi, who believed in Buddhism, paid three taels of silver, bought out the grain rent, allocated a large amount of fertile land from the surrounding area to the temple to collect rent, provided for monks, and preached the Buddhist doctrine of karma and reincarnation, in order to show the emperor's grace.
"Is three taels of silver a lot?" Asked with a smile.
"Not much." According to the comparability of prices, Nishino calculates:
Three taels of silver bought out the grain rent...... At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, one tael of silver could buy a load of rice, according to the current ordinary price of rice of 2.5 yuan, which is about 250 yuan, and three taels of silver is 750 yuan at most.
The fundraiser has 10,000 yuan, and 1,000 yuan is about 2,000-2,500 yuan. Ten thousand Wen is equivalent to 20,000-25,000 yuan, and the money donated by these believers is twenty or thirty times that of Emperor Shunzhi!
However, the emperor ordered that the state treasury should be funded by the locality. The surrounding fertile land is collected by the temple and taxed, which is a large amount.
After Emperor Shunzhi, Bayun Nunnery was rebuilt twice in the 27th and 57th years of Qianlong, and the last major repair in the early years of the Republic of China, which shows that the Lingshan Buddhist Temple was not ordinary in Huguang Buddhism and the status of the people in ancient times.
"It turns out that there are so many secrets hidden behind these stone tablets, and today I can be regarded as an eye-opener. The mountain is not high, and there is a fairy name. The water is not deep, and if there is a dragon, it is spiritual......"
"Yes, mountains have the height of mountains, and water has the depth of water, so there is no need to compare. The wind has the freedom of the wind, and the clouds have the gentleness of the clouds. Everyone has their own personality, like a few of us. What you think is happy, look for it. If you think it's worthwhile, wait for it. If you think you are happy, you should cherish it. Follow your heart and have no regrets in this life. β
Standing in front of the ancient temple of Lingshan, looking at the colorful glow in the west and the sunset that was slowly setting, Xiye thought: I can't see through, I can't bear it, I can't afford to lose, I can't let go, what kind of pain it should be. No matter how difficult it is, you have to persevere, no matter how good it is, you have to be indifferent, no matter how bad you are, you have to be confident, no matter how much you have to save, no matter how cold you have to be enthusiastic, maybe this is the highest state of enlightenment and Buddhism!
"It's time for us to go back, we won't be able to get down the mountain if it's late." Tao Jin urged.
"It's just near dusk, and the sunset is infinitely better. I would like to stay a little longer. Nishino was a little reluctant, he wanted to watch the whole process of the sunset.
"Do you want to sleep in the mountains? If you don't eat or drink, you won't starve to death! Xiaoxiao pushed and shoved Nishino several times before he followed Xiaoxiao down the mountain.
