Chapter 074: Wenhua Summons (I)
Early the next morning, before dawn, the center of the Ming Dynasty, there were already many eunuchs and palace maids in the Forbidden City who were busy in advance. Today is not as good as in the past, and the busiest place in the palace is the Wenhua Palace, which is a little deserted on weekdays.
Wenhua Hall was built in the eighteenth year of Yongle, located in the east of the Concord Gate of the Outer Dynasty, and the east and west of the Wuying Palace. Because it is located in the eastern part of the Forbidden City, it was once used as a place for the crown prince to watch things. The five elements say that the east belongs to wood, and the color is green, which means growth, so the palace roof used by the prince is covered with green glazed tiles.
At the beginning of the Wenhua Palace, the emperor was the palace of the emperor's permanent palace, Tianshun and Chenghua dynasties, and before the prince practiced Zuo, he was regent in the Wenhua Palace. Later, because most of the princes were young, they could not actually participate in political affairs, especially when they arrived at Emperor Jiajing, the emperor who hoped for immortality refused to canonize the prince at all, so in the fifteenth year of Jiajing, it was changed to the emperor's palace, and then it was the place of the feast, and the building was changed to a yellow glazed tile roof. In the seventeenth year of Jiajing, the Shengji Temple was built behind the palace.
In general, the Wenhua Hall is the palace where the emperor listens to the lectures of the Hanlin scholars, the prince enters the school, and supervises the country, and it is also the palace where the emperor occasionally visits the palace.
The main hall of the Wenhua Hall is an I-shaped plane. The front hall is the Wenhua Palace, south-facing, five rooms are wide, three rooms are deep, and the top of the yellow glazed tile rests. Open six three-crossed six-liner flower sash doors in the bright room, the second room and the tip are all sill windows, each open four three-cross-six ryophilic flower sash windows, and the east and west gables also open one window. Out of the platform in front of the hall, there is a road leading directly to the Wenhua Gate. The apse is said to be the main hall, and the regulation is slightly similar to the Wenhua hall and the depth is slightly shallow. The front and rear halls are connected by corridors. The east and west side halls are respectively the Benren Hall and the Jiyi Hall.
Daming has the position of "Wenhuadian University Scholar", and the theoretical responsibility is to tutor the prince to study, of course, in fact this is a false error, Wenhuadian University is one of the elders, of course, he will not directly be a teacher for the prince.
By the way, the bachelors of the Ming Dynasty usually take the scholars of the Zhongji Hall (Huagai Palace) as the first assistant, and the scholars of the Jianji Hall (Jinshen Palace) as the second assistant, and the remaining few pavilion elders are sorted and transferred according to the Wenhua Palace, Wuying Palace, Wenyuan Pavilion, and East Pavilion from high to low, and the scholars of the Wenhua Palace are ranked third, which shows that the weight is not low.
The northeast of Xiehe Gate in Donghua Gate is a building complex with Wenhua Hall as the main body, the building is magnificent, but the palace appearance is simple. There is no plaque in the Wenhua Palace, and there are fine halls, Gongmo Room, and Nine Five Lents in the east and west side halls.
Because the Wenhua Hall is close to the cabinet of the auxiliary ministers' office, if the emperor is diligent in his administration, he will often think about government affairs in the Wenhua Palace. For example, Renzong once posted a list of important officials on the west wall of Fengtianmen, and when he arrived at Yingzong, he changed to Wenhua Hall to post the names of central and local civil and military officials, and the same was true of Xiaozong. However, when he arrived at Longqing, although the emperor still did it, he had very little time to come to Wenhua Hall - after all, in Longqing's view, he only needed to use the right auxiliary ministers, and the general trend of the world was basically under control, and as an emperor, he didn't need to care about everything.
The small hall behind the Wenhua Hall is called the Jade Food Pavilion, and there is a simple wooden hut in the northwest, called the Provincial Sorrow House. The reason why it was a simple wooden hut was because whenever the country faced a major disaster, the emperor had to repair the province here. However, the symbolism of this place is much higher than the actual meaning, and the history is almost in the Chongzhen period, because of the border turmoil and domestic wars, Emperor Chongzhen has come to the province many times to live in penance, and wants to eliminate the war by reflecting on his own mistakes, and before him, this house was almost built in vain. Therefore, Gao Pragmatic has always believed that Chongzhen is an emperor who is powerless to turn the tide, but he really has the heart to make good governance.
It stands to reason that the crown prince of the Ming Dynasty, at the earliest age of five and at the latest at the age of thirteen, must begin to systematically accept the influence of Confucian classics, and the professional term is called "going out of the cabinet to give lectures". The prince's lecture ceremony out of the pavilion, similar to the ceremony of the emperor's banquet, was also held in this Wenhua Palace. Since then, the prince's master selected by the emperor has tutored the prince in the east wing of the Wenhua Hall every day.
Around the age of fourteen, the crown prince is routinely crowned to mark his coming of age, and this crown ceremony is also held at the Wenhua Hall.
Even when the emperor was seriously ill, the crown prince would sometimes be appointed to act as the emperor in the Wenhua Palace. For example, when Ming Xianzong was critically ill, he once "ordered the crown prince to temporarily watch the court in the Wenhua Palace, and the crown prince of the civil and military hundred officials was as usual." ”
Of course, there is a reason why the Wenhua Hall is so lively today: the emperor will bring the crown prince and the prince's biological mother, the imperial concubine Li, to the imperial Wenhua Hall together, and the children within the five suits of the family recommended by the three Wenchen ministers in Beijing will be selected by them to produce a prince to accompany them.
This is actually the first time since the founding of the Ming Dynasty, only Zhu Yuanzhang once selected some high-achieving students to be the prince Zhu Biao and others in the Guozijian, but there are two points to explain: one is that these high-achieving students in the Guozijian are all adults, saying that they are companions, but in fact, they are playing the role of teachers; The second is that this system gradually became the current scripture feast into the lecture, but the level of selection is more elevated, basically from the Hanlin Academy, is a serious teacher, usually called the feast day lecturer and the like, but also add other titles, such as the bachelor.
But this time, because only some "little hairy children" were selected, and they were not asked to give lectures to the prince, but simply "accompany them", the age of the selected ones was limited to "similar to the prince".
Analogue is, of course, a very inaccurate word, but since the emperor's holy will is expressed in this way, the people below have to "comprehend it for themselves". Generally speaking, the age must not exceed the age of three years of the crown prince, otherwise it will ...... Even if it is put on the folk children, they can't talk about it at all. But since the prince's age is also there, there is no need to think about it when he is three years younger than the prince - the words may not be clear, what are you going to read?
Coupled with the news from the father-in-law Li Wei in private, everyone agreed that the emperor was clearly hinting to the ministers: Don't send too many people to me!
This is actually understandable to everyone, after all, our Emperor Majesty has always been impatient with details, in case there are so many people that the Wenhua Hall is stuffed, you can imagine how bad His Majesty the Emperor's mood can be. Although the civil officials did not fear the emperor, who was far less domineering than his father, they did have people who were afraid of him—for example, the high arch.
I don't know where the news came from, saying that Gao Gong has a nephew named Gao Shishi, who went out of Beijing to another courtyard not long ago, and was robbed by a horse in Baili Gorge on the way. The nephew of the old man of Gao Ge was actually a child, calmly commanded the family to resist for a long time, and happened to meet the former wolf mountain general Liu Xian father and son led more than 20 family members to pass by, and with the cooperation of the two, they actually defeated several times their own ringing horse group of thieves.
This is already remarkable enough, but I don't want it to be more bizarre in the future: Gao Pragmatic said to Liu Xian, "I am willing to borrow the people to help the general complete the battle and eliminate this great harm for Gyeonggi", and then praised the strategy and presented the method of subduing the enemy. And Liu Xian is also a master of the arts, so he really responded, and ordered the two or three hundred people provided by Gao Pragmatic to go to conquer Baili Gorge.
I don't know if it's Gao Shi's strategy to praise the painting is really powerful, or if Liu Xianwei's reputation is earth-shattering, anyway, after a period of operation where everyone doesn't know the details, the Bailixia giant has actually descended......
With the above table of Liu Yingjie, the governor of Shuntian, Liu Xian's fame in Beijing has been greatly enhanced, and Gao Pragmatic has also become famous - he did not personally lead troops to suppress bandits, but a child of a few years old can do it to this extent, who is so shameless and meaningful?
Linked to the status of Gao Gong in the emperor's mind, everyone has a little bottom in their hearts, and now it depends on what the situation of today's selection is.
