scp-005 scp-004

Item No: SCP-005

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Intuitively, SCP-005 does not show any danger. Even so, its unique capabilities require special measures to limit access to and manipulation of objects. Permission from at least one Level 4 personnel is required for the transfer of subjects from the Control Zone.

Description: In appearance, SCP-005 is an ornately decorated key, typical of the mass-produced keys of the 20s of the 20th century. When SCP-005 was discovered, a civilian was using it to infiltrate a heavily guarded facility. It appears to possess the ability to easily open any form of lock (see Appendix A), whether mechanical or digital. The source of this capability is currently unknown.

Additional Notes: SCP-005 may be used as a replacement for a lost security pass under the supervision of at least one Level 4 personnel, but is forbidden to be used to repair vending machines, open lockers, or serve as spare keys to private residences. Removal of the subject from the fence will result in summary termination.

Addendum A: While SCP-005 has shown to be effective in removing any form of latching device, further testing has shown that efforts to disguise the functions and characteristics of the locks can render SCP-005 useless to some extent. In approximately 50% of cases, volunteers are unable to recognize the latching mechanism, and SCP-005 is unable to deconstruct it. Based on the results of these tests, SCP-005 has been temporarily placed in the "sentient" category, and further testing is to be conducted to test its cognitive abilities. However, we only know that the above device can get away with obfuscation, but it is not clear which characteristics prevent it from recognizing a particular lock.

Item No: SCP-004

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: When handling SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13, strict adherence to protocols is of paramount importance. Subjects are only allowed to be removed from the scene when accompanied by two Level 4 security personnel. It is strictly forbidden to carry any component of SCP-004 through SCP-004-1. The consequences of this act are unknown, but its losses will turn in-depth research into mere rhetoric. Once the subject inside SCP-004-1 is out of containment, or the facility is breached, the key must be brought back inside and the door locked before the Site-62 missile warhead is activated. The unauthorized removal of keys from the test area is sufficient grounds for summary execution.

Basic access to SCP-004-1 requires Level 1 clearance; Use of SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13 requires Level 4 clearance.

Description: SCP-004 consists of an old wooden warehouse door (SCP-004-1) and a set of 12 rusty metal keys (SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13). The door itself is the entrance to an abandoned factory located in [DATA EXPUNGED].

chronicles

July 2, 1949: The door was discovered by three teenagers who trespassed on β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ nearby federal government property. According to the testimony, they found a string of rusty keys inside an iron safe and immediately decided to locate the door corresponding to the key. One of them (SCP-004-CAS01) later disappeared, and the other two were arrested after contacting the Attorney Generalβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ

07/03/1949: Local authorities discovered SCP-004-CAS01's severed right hand eight kilometers from SCP-004-1, with other parts of the corpse scattered in all directions, up to 32 kilometers from the factory. During interrogation, the juvenile in custody confessed to the authorities that when SCP-004-CAS01 opened the door with one of the keys, his body was suddenly torn into several pieces, but all of them disappeared. The SCP Foundation took over the investigation.

07/04/1949: SCP agents β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ obtained the key from the local authorities in order to conduct testing, and it was revealed that SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13 all fit into the keyhole in the closed door. Twelve D-class personnel were designated as subjects and entered the room with different keys to test the effects of the door, with only two surviving and all subjects using keys other than SCP-004-7 and SCP-004-12 to open the door. However, it was not until later that the dismembered body parts were found. At the time of writing, only two pieces of corpse were recovered for each subject (with the exception of those using SCP-004-β–ˆ, whose body pieces were scattered nearby), and the rest were untraceable.

Of the two surviving subjects, only one (using SCP-004-7) was unscathed. The other is in a catatonic, staggering to the door at best, before collapsing to the ground, and must be guarded at all times to prevent him from picking out his eyes (see Addendum A: Effect of SCP-004-12 on mental state). Subjects using SCP-004-7 stated that they had entered a large space, which was ridiculously large for an annexed building. After his evacuation, a heavily armed team of Level 3 personnel entered the forcibly opened SCP-004-1 and found that the size of the space was immeasurable, with the door frame and the team members being the only objects that could be illuminated and perceived.

16 July 1949: Two juvenile suspects and the Magistrate β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ executed.

2 August 1949: The β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ is declared a danger zone on the grounds of "unexploded weapons" and a perimeter fence is erected to prevent civilians from entering. Tests began on the safety of exposure to SCP-004-1's internal environment.

12/1/1950: Exposure to SCP-004 has been shown to cause spatiotemporal anomalies. Trial activities will be suspended until further notice.

07/03/19β–ˆβ–ˆ: Remnants of SCP-004-CAS01, once unaccounted for, unexpectedly appeared outside SCP-004-1. Although SCP-004-CAS01 died decades ago, the remains of the corpse were not decomposed. Signs of defeat, and the blood does not coagulate, and the touch is still warm. It has now been shipped away for testing.

07/04/19β–ˆβ–ˆ: The missing remnants of one of the 12 subjects resurfaced in a manner similar to SCP-004-CAS01. This part of the corpse is designated SCP-004-CAS02. Records indicate that both SCP-004-CAS01 and SCP-004-CAS02 used SCP-004-β–ˆβ–ˆ.

03/21/1999: Due to the massive proliferation of nuclear weapons, with only β–ˆβ–ˆ years left before World War III, a construction program was initiated somewhere within SCP-004-1. It is used to stock up on supplies sufficient to supply β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ person*day. {Translation: person*day, unit of statistics, refers to the amount of work completed per person per day, and should be used here as the amount of material consumed per person per day.} }

04/21/1999: β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ orders the expansion of SCP-004-1's internal site to include an emergency warehouse for all easily removable SCP-β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ specimens, as well as a database of β–ˆβ–ˆ petabytes for all SCP data. This and its facilities are now known as Site 62. {1PB=1024TB, 1TB=1024GB.} }

25 September 2000: Site 62 was officially operational. Laboratories and control units are fully in place to supervise the most dangerous samples. The backup of the SCP database has begun.

25/01/2001: Due to temporal anomalies (see "Temporal and Temporal Anomalies below"), it is now mandated that all Site-62 personnel must reside permanently on site. Relatives have been informed that their loved ones had been killed in a labour accident and that the cloned bodies had been prepared for the funeral.

July 14, 2003: A massive power outage occurred in the northeastern United States, even affecting Canada. As multiple of SCP's generators failed, Site-62 was locked in a 53-minute power outage. On-site personnel reported being "aware" of certain people and creatures, though they were unable to observe or perceive any anomalous entities at the time. Some of the selected facility personnel were allowed to read the β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ (Appendix A), and they stated that the "perceived" creature was human-like, but in some way resembled the giant green creature described.

Space-time anomalies

SCP-004 appears to spread spatiotemporal anomalies, and personnel leaving the facility have reported losing time. Those who have been stationed on-site for weeks insist that they have only stayed for a few days, and that the operation log and the consumption of supplies support their assertion. Other temporal anomalies have involved SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13, notably SCP-004-CAS01 and SCP-004-CAS02 reappearing exactly β–ˆβ–ˆ years after using SCP-004-β–ˆβ–ˆ. β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ have been assigned to investigate all aspects of this temporal anomaly. An example of a spatial anomaly is the vast area opened by SCP-004-7, which is simply incredibly large. Similarly, the 2003 power outage revealed that Site-62 is located on an alternating plane.

Details

Experiments have shown that 10 of the keys can open SCP-004-1 into an entirely new dimension, where the structure and physical laws are very different from our world. After the subjects in such a treacherous condition were dismantled, the body pieces were scattered in various places, and only three of them were verified to be on Earth. Bodies were found in two of these locations shortly after, and in the third, the future was just β–ˆβ–ˆ years later. The remaining seven locations are unknown.

Current testing has focused on two avenues of research: the search for ways to survive in SCP-004's harsh environment, and the [DATA EXPUNGED] assertion that SCP-004-2 through SCP-004-13 may open doors beyond SCP-004-1.

Addendum A: Effect of SCP-004-12 on mental state

All D-class personnel using SCP-004-12 returned in a catatonic state, unable to speak. Some of them, who were strong enough, kept trying to gouge out their eyes. Of the 16 subjects, 4 survived, and only one regained the ability to converse after long-term psychotherapy, and was able to describe to the psychiatrist the giant green creatures he saw, so large that most of their bodies extended beyond their field of vision. He recounts his inner fear, suddenly realizing that it "seems to be deeply embedded in [his] primordial fear" and forcibly instilling memories that "no one can solve". Subjects exhibit severe anterograde and retrograde amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is the inability to remember events that followed the illness, and retrograde amnesia is the inability to recall events before the illness.) οΌ‰

Appendix B

Item No: SCP-004-14

Date of discovery: September 2, 1950

Source of Object: Found in another part of the factory - the previously undiscovered broker's office.

Description: The object is a large (182 cm x 129 cm) rustic wooden box, which may be opened by the "safety" key SCP-004-7, or possibly five of the "danger" keys (see Document SCP-004-1).

When SCP-004-14 is unlocked with SCP-004-7, the box opens itself by hinge, and its internal capacity is five times the capacity of the same volume in the outer dimension. The lid remains open, and the contents have no effect on the weight or other properties of the box. However, when the lid of the box was closed and locked, all items and personnel who had entered the box disappeared. However, individuals who disappear in this way appear to have a significant effect on [DATA EXPUNGED]'s dreams.
