Chapter 334: Old West, Old Wu
"What do I want your Golden Buddha for? Don't want the Golden Buddha, send everything else! Ye Zhenwu swallowed his saliva and drank.
Golden Buddha, it is very valuable when you hear it, but before leaving, Ye Kai instructed him that the only mission of his trip is to occupy Luang Nam Pagoda and open up the passage from Northern Qilai Prefecture to Northern Myanmar, and don't make any extra trouble with the rest.
The three small countries of Luang Prala, Vientiane, and Champasak were all split from the Lao Xuanwei envoy of the original Yuan Dynasty, and even Luang Namtha originally belonged to the Central Plains Dynasty.
However, in recent years, after paying tribute to the Qing Dynasty in the name of the southern state, in order to avoid the attack of Siam, it has begun to gradually occupy the small place where the borders of Luang Nam Pagoda are not clear and the Qing Dynasty does not care much.
These three small countries are all devout Buddhist countries, and offering the golden Buddha in the Buddhist temple is a sign of sincerity, but it is also easy to bring hatred from the locals.
Therefore, Ye Zhenwu did not ask for the golden Buddha of Surin Yaweng, because there is no need to occupy this poor place, and the so-called surrender is not reliable, and the most important thing is to complete Ye Kai's task first.
Hearing that these strange Han people on the other side did not want the Golden Buddha, Surin Yaon II breathed a sigh of relief, and he turned around and commanded a few words.
It didn't take long for a group of remnants of the army to be defeated like him, and they brought a dozen pigs, a few sheep, a few carts of rice and vegetables, and dozens of young women of the old dragon clan wearing colorful clothes and tube skirts.
Boom!
Ye Zhenwu couldn't help but swallow his saliva, he unconsciously touched his buttocks, last month he fell in love with the daughter of a junior official in Annan, and went to the door of people's homes every day to block people.
As a result, this Annan petty official was so frightened that he ran to Ye Kai's station on the shore of Huanjian Lake to cry, Ye Kai first rewarded the petty official with a county order, gave some gold and silver as a dowry, and then gave the Annan woman to Ye Zhenwu as a concubine, and then beat him with thirty military sticks, and now he has just formed a scar on his buttocks.
Just wanted to open his mouth to refuse, but the officers around him, as well as the soldiers further behind, all looked at him with burning eyes, their eyes were full of anticipation, Ye Zhenwu touched his nose, and nodded after being silent for a long time.
The atmosphere around me was very lively!
。。。。
Mengmao in northern Myanmar, a place near today's Cangyuan in Yunnan, a strong man known as the young master of the Wu family, was drinking tea with a man wearing Wa sarrons.
But this man is not a local Wa tribe at first glance, and he shows the demeanor of a soldier everywhere, although the little finger of his left hand is missing half of it, but he looks extremely strong.
Several of his retinue were dressed in expensive armor, with sharp knives and flintlock handcuffs that were hard to buy!
Although Wu Qisheng is called the young master of the Wu family, he is actually in his forties, as for why he is called the young master, it is because his father, Wu Shangxian, the owner of the Maolong silver factory, was called Xilao Wu and Uncle Wu by the Han and Wa people in northern Myanmar, and he was called Young Master Wu by the Han Wa people.
And Wu Shangxian, the owner of Maolong Silver Factory, is an unavoidable figure in the history of the Chinese in northern Myanmar.
In later generations, there was a lot of speculation about Wu Shangxian's background, but what is more credible is that he was a descendant of Li Jin's generals.
In 1743, the impoverished Wu Shangxian came to the area of Banlao and Banhong in Cangyuan County.
Soon, he came to work in the already very depressed Maolong Silver Factory, because Wu Shangxian had high smelting technology, coupled with integrity, boldness, and organizational ability, so he quickly won the trust of the majority of miners, and then was embraced as the mine owner.
After Wu Shangxian became the owner of the mine, he was deeply influenced by King Li Jin's style of respecting the locals at the junction of Qing and Burma and not treating the Wa people as barbarians.
Wu Shangxian also paid more attention to his interactions with the local Wa people, and after the silver factory gradually grew and production resumed, Wu Shangxian formed an alliance with Feng Feng, the king of the Wa tribe of Banlao, on June 12 of that year.
They cut a round woodcut oath to open the mine together, this woodcut is divided into two, by Wu Shangxian and Feng Zhu each hold half, Wu Shangxian is the director of the factory called 'uncle', which is the origin of the Han Wa people call him Uncle Wu, Feng Zhu called the second master, responsible for the protection of the silver factory.
Wu Shangxian was a good manager of the factory, not only good at managing the factory affairs, but also striving to promote harmony between the Han and Wa ethnic groups and establish good relations with the local ethnic minorities.
In just 8 years, there have been more than 40,000 migrant workers in Maolong Silver Factory, and a 20,000-person "factory protection team" has been organized to practice day and night.
He also asked the miners to pass on the advanced technology of the interior to the locals, and actively helped the ethnic minorities to develop production.
The people of Ah Wa thanked Wu Shangxian for bringing wealth, and affectionately called him "Wu Caixing" and "Xilao Wu".
However, at this time, the prosperity of the Maolong Silver Factory attracted the attention of the Qing court, although the Maolong Silver Factory had developed into a famous large silver mine, and the amount of silver produced was a handful of silver factories in China, and the annual tribute tax alone amounted to more than 10,000 taels of silver.
However, tens of thousands of horses gathered in the border areas, which made the governor of Yunnan very vigilant in the Qing court, and what was even more worrying was the identity of Wu Shangxiangui's family, which made the Qing government very afraid, afraid that he would collude with Tusi in various places on the border to rebel.
So the Manchu government began to plot to kill Wu Shangxian and bring down the silver factory, but the silver factory not only had more than 20,000 Ding Zhuang's mine protection team, but also the support of the local Tusi, without a legitimate reason, even the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou did not dare to make rash trouble.
But the opportunity soon came, and in 1750, Wu Shangxian led a mine guard to repel some Burmese attacks.
The defeated Burmese chieftain Mahazu was originally coveted by the wealth of the Maolong Silver Factory, but after being educated, he had an idea and expressed his willingness to submit to the Manchu Qing in exchange for his people's qualification to enter the Maolong Silver Factory to mine silver.
Wu Shangxian was also a little floating at this time, holding tens of thousands of Ding Zhuang in his hands, and the Burmese chieftains who could still fight bowed down to their vassals, they were very powerful!
So he packaged Maha Zu as the king of Burma and went around to show off his achievements.
In the city of Kunming, the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou, who was worried that he could not find an opportunity, immediately ordered Wu Shangxian to take the king of Burma to Beijing to pay tribute, and enter Beijing to pay this year's silver tax.
And although Wu Shangxian already felt that something was wrong, if he didn't obey his orders, he would inevitably let the silver mine suffer, and after thinking about it again, Wu Shangxian still agreed.
So in 1751, the sixteenth year of Qianlong, Wu Shangxian, who was lucky, led someone to accompany his Burmese king Mahazu to Beijing to pay tribute.
On the way back to Kunming, he was imprisoned by the long-planned governor of Yunnan and Guizhou, Kubida, on the charges of "embezzling fat for personal gain" and "causing trouble on the way", and was not allowed to send food to his entourage, and starved to death in the prison of Kunming City a few days later.
As soon as Wu Shangxian died, the Qing court immediately began to divide the Maolong silver mine, and in the same year, Fengzhu was killed by the usurper supported by the Qing court, and Wu Shangxian's son, that is, now Wu Young Master can only go south to Meng Mao.
Although it still exists, the Maolong Silver Factory is dying, and eleven years later, in 1800, it will be closed by order of the Qing government.
However, although the silver factory has declined, the Han, Wa, and Dai people in Cangyuan, Mengmao, Menglian and other places still remember Wu Shangxian's goodness.
Until the 21st century, in Cangyuan and other Wa villages, every time there is a Gu Soul Festival and a soul worship activity, they must recite "Yu Lao Li, Xi Lao Wu" to remember their kindness to the Wa people.
"Yu Lao Li" is Li Dingguo, the king of Jin, and "Xi Lao Wu" is Wu Shangxian.
And Young Master Wu also benefited from this, and he was able to take a thousand subordinates to form an alliance with the Wa people and occupy the small city of Mengmao.
Although he has a hard time sitting and eating in the mountains, he still has a place to stay, and the Wa people, Dai people, Gui family, and Min family near Meng Mao also sell him some face.
This is also the reason why Liu Chongli chose him, Young Master Wu is a very suitable middleman.
