Simple large-scale water treatment facilities, through the public in Bopu have: the use of sedimentation tank-sand filter tank to purify water quality, for factory and general life use. This method is simple. Build one or more waterproof masonry pools, place 60~90cm sand layer in the pool, the bottom part of the sand layer is gravel, and the bottom of the pool is a drainage system with gaps between bricks and stones to collect filtered water. After filling the pond with the initial sedimentation of river water, it flows slowly through the sand layer from the gravel, and the solid matter in the water is mainly trapped on the surface of the sand. This type of pond is simple and easy to implement, but the disadvantage is that the filtration speed is pitifully slow, and in order to be able to supply enough water, the area of the pond has to be increased. Every once in a while, the contaminated surface sand has to be cleaned up, which is very labor-intensive. In the past, the demand for water supply in Bopu was small, and this problem was not prominent. Large-scale use is unacceptable to the traversers who are not rich in land and labor.
This new system differs from the traditional filter tank in that the water is transported from the lower part of the sand layer, and an agitator is installed at the upper end of the sand layer, which continuously agitates the sand to assist in the flushing of the flowing water in Xiangshang. The filtration speed is much faster β of course, not as effective as a slower sand filter. Fortunately, mechanical filtration systems treat water for purity, not for drinkability. It's great for traversers.

This system is available in Bairen Industrial Park and Bopu Industrial Park to meet their respective industrial water needs. Tian Jiujiu set up a steam pumping station at Bairen Power Station and Bopu Power Station. In order to improve efficiency and reduce the frequency of sediment change in the filter tank, the river water is pumped up and left in the sedimentation tank for a day or two to allow the larger solid materials to settle, and the recognizable floating objects are fished out by man.
The water treated by the rapid sand filter is stored in the tank. The traverser uses a simple pressure device: a steam pump continuously pumps water into a high-level water tower, which uses the gravity of the tower to supply water to the factory.
The construction of the new water supply system was made possible thanks to the mechanical and metallurgical industries of the Traverser for providing a more material base: it was the mass production of boilers, steam engines, cast iron pipes and valves of various small and medium-sized calibers that made these basic industrial facilities possible.
