Masahiro Abe (1819-1857) was the 7th head of the Bigo Fukuyama Abe family. In 1836, Abe's elder brother, Masaning, the sixth head of the family, lived in seclusion due to illness, and Masahiro succeeded him as the head of the family.

In the 9th year of Tenpo (1838), Abe was appointed as the shogunate, and in the 11th year of Tenpo (1840), he was appointed as a trainee of the temple shrine, and soon he was promoted to the priest of the temple, and this year he became the old middle school of the shogunate, and the 24-year-old Abe Masahiro officially entered the top of the shogunate.

The role of the shogunate musician was to be in charge of the samurai rites in the house, and when the daimyo and Banner visited the shogun, the musician was responsible for receiving the daimyo's tribute, confirming the content of the tribute, and reporting to the shogun. In addition, the order of the shogun to give goods was also conveyed by the sonata. Capacity of 20 to 30 people.

The temple is in charge of the supervision, rituals, pujas, repairs, personnel, litigation and other matters of the temples and shrines in Fuso, and has a staff of four, including subordinates such as hand servants, temple community officials, and prosecutors.

In the early days, the shogunate was directly managed by the shogun and his cronies, and the three generations of shoguns, Tokugawa Iemitsu, established an official organization centered on the old and the Wakanian, and then the number of positions at all levels gradually increased, and by the time of the Tenpo period, there were more than 450 kinds of positions, forming a huge bureaucratic organization centered on the old manaka, Wakanenyo, and Sanbongyo.

The shogunate was divided into three levels of management: the central official, the local official, and the three servants, and the princes were divided into three ranks: the "kin-domain" (Tokugawa clan), the "geneatsu" (the old retainer of the Tokugawa family), and the wai-jin (the daimyo who returned to Shun after the Battle of Sekigahara).

Three of these posts were established by the future shogunate in 1862 in response to the political crisis of the late Edo period. At this time, the shogunate was still headed by Lao Zhong.

Masahiro Abe is a sleek man with superb means. After the death of the 11th shogun, Tokugawa Iesai (1773-1841), the "private relationship" between the daiku (shogun's harem) and the monks was discovered.

According to the legend of Fuso, there is a huge catfish carrying the Fuso Islands on its back, and when it moves, an earthquake occurs, so the god Ebisu uses a gourd to suppress the catfish. The catfish in Fusang is not only a destroyer, but also a representative of revival, known as the "catfish of transforming society", and the gourd itself also has the meaning of no disease and no disaster.

Fuso has a kind of origin (mascot) called "ladyhead catfish", which is shaped like a catfish carrying a small gourd on its back.

However, Masahiro Abe's nickname of "Ladyboard Catfish" also contains another meaning, and in the future, the chief old daimyo and Banner were dissatisfied with the chief old Naka Abe for allowing the Daimyo to participate in shogunate politics and actively promote middle- and lower-level shoguns, believing that he was weak in government and only tried to reconcile contradictions and did not take drastic measures, so he was ridiculed as "Ladyboard Catfish", which means "good old man".

Naohide said that Abe "admired" himself very much, and he put gold on his face, but in fact, he only met once: before Naohide cured the beriberi of the shogun Shiko Iesho, Abe Isemori came forward to reward him on behalf of Gongfang and Oku, but Naohide resigned the reward of thirty stones, and his words were tactful and humble, and Abe was quite satisfied at the time.

Naohide resigned the thirty stone Zhixing, which was a great sacrifice for Naohide.

Naohide is a member of the imperial family, and Yulu is a foot high not a stone high, although the Hori family can be a hereditary position as the second half, but this is the grace of the shogunate, and it is far inferior to the flag class in terms of status. As long as the descendants do not commit rebellion and other great rebellions, the position and treatment can be hereditary, and even the shogun cannot be easily deprived. Compared with the flag book, the royal family can be compared to the official establishment and contract workers.

Therefore, Naohide's resignation of thirty stone Zhixing is a major opportunity to resign the Horiya family's promotion to Qiben, but such a resignation is beneficial to the shogunate and the person in charge, Masahiro Abe, because in this way, there will be no "rumors" that "the villain is lucky to advance due to private affairs", and Naohide's actions are called "loyalty" and humility, and Abe Isemori contributed to such a "beautiful talk", which is also a good thing for Abe to boast about.

In fact, Naohide really wanted the thirty stone Zhixing, but he didn't dare, the Hori family had no foundation, as long as he accepted Zhixing, the Horiki family would stand opposite all the flags and the royal family, whether they were despised or envied, the Hori family would definitely have to hold their tails and endure for generations. Anyway, as a traverser, Naoxiu can still find other opportunities, since he has already shirked once, then the next reward can be taken seriously, this is just the old trick of the ancients who advanced and retreated.

Naohide returned to Edo, first went to say hello to his former boss, although he had retired, but he still had to report from time to time, otherwise he would be fired one day and find someone to reason with. As long as the gift is sincere enough, everything is not a problem.

Then Naohide went to the Elephant Sen School again. Mr. Ito's family did not return to Saga, and the medical center is currently supported by his disciples. Naohide brought Mr. 's letter to his family, and presented a gift, explaining Mr. Ito's recent health and not hiring a maid and other trivial matters, before Mrs. Ito let him go.

Another letter came from Taro Matsumae of the Nagasaki Metsusho, Matsumae Yashiki was also in Shinjuku, not far from Naohide's house, and Naohide came to visit, and Matsumae's family was also very welcome.

Then Naohide went to visit Mr. Egawa Tanan's house. Mr. Tan'an teased Naoxiu, "How can you be more restrained than before", Naoxiu smiled bitterly, "In the past, the kid didn't know the height of the sky, and he didn't know the dignity of the door until he traveled to study" - Naoxiu used to be a traverser, and he didn't dare to say that he was empty, but he still had a sense of superiority, but he traveled to various domains, and saw the huge difference in the identities of samurai and civilians, and he was also a lot weaker.

Naoxiu introduced the rice-style windmill, coke, and "Optics" to Mr. Tan'an, and promised to translate the orchid book in his hand into Fusang as soon as possible and send it, and then the two sides mainly talked about the reverberatory furnace.

The reverberatory furnace method was the method of producing wrought iron on a large scale in Europa at this time.

At present, the iron-making method of Fuso is the high-temperature furnace method, including Tatatar, Libra Tatan, and Da Ke, but the output is not high, the efficiency ratio is poor, and the main products are sponge iron and white iron, most of the production is pig iron, and a small amount is wrought iron.

The main material for the manufacture of heavy artillery in Fuso at this time was bronze, but the cost of bronze was too high compared to wrought iron.

Pig iron, wrought iron, steel are all iron-carbon alloys, with the content of carbon to distinguish, generally the carbon content is less than 0.2% called wrought iron or pure iron, the content of 0.2-1.7% is called steel, the content of more than 2% is called pig iron.

Wrought iron is soft, good plasticity, easy to deform, low strength and hardness, and is not widely used; Pig iron contains a lot of carbon, is hard and brittle, and has almost no plasticity; Steel has two advantages, pig iron and wrought iron, and is widely used by human beings.

In 1784, the English Henry Court invented the method of frying wrought iron in a reverberatory furnace, known as the Pudlin method, which was later improved by Joseph Hall in 1816.

In the future, in 1856, the English Besmarck invented the bottom-blowing acid converter steelmaking method, which was the beginning of modern steelmaking, which produced a large amount of cheap steel for mankind, but because this method could not remove sulfur and phosphorus, the quality of the steel was poor, so the development was limited.

Later, in 1879, the Thomas bottom-blown alkaline converter steelmaking method appeared, using a converter with an alkaline lining to process high-phosphorus pig iron. Although the converter method can produce steel in large quantities, it has strict requirements for the composition of pig iron, and it generally does not use more scrap steel. With the further development of the steelmaking industry, there is more and more scrap.

In the future, in 1867, the Siemens-Martin method (open-hearth steelmaking method) appeared. Together with his younger brother, Siemens worked on regenerative heat exchangers and the use of gas as fuel, successfully using them in glass melting furnaces and melting crucible steel, and finally succeeded in developing a method of making steel from pig iron and iron ore, known as open-hearth steelmaking.

During the same period, after Martin obtained the patent of Siemens on the regenerator furnace, he successfully tested the method of smelting pig iron and wrought iron together into steel, and then used scrap steel instead of wrought iron and pig iron to make steel together, which is the common open-hearth steelmaking method in later generations, also known as the Siemens-Martin method.

In the late 19th century, electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces appeared one after another, but the technology was gradually improved in the early 20th century.

Fuso had been suffering from iron smelting, and until the end of the Edo period, it was still importing "imported iron". Imported iron includes Nanban Iron and China's fried steel and filled steel, although the number of imports is small, but the bottleneck lies in transportation rather than demand.

Mr. Tanan Egawa built a reverberatory furnace in Mt. Izu Nirayama on the orders of the shogunate, but it is said that the results were not good.

Naoxiu knew the general principle of the reverberatory furnace, but he couldn't explain the source, and the Languo Merchant House did not have the book "Wangjialaike Cannon Foundry Artillery Casting Method" at this time, so he told Mr. Tan'an "bluntly", saying that the reverberatory furnace was heard from the Lan scholars on Kyushu Island, and the reverberatory furnace is currently the mainstream way of refining good iron in Western countries, and the details need to be obtained from the Languo Merchant Hall.

The Dutch Merchant House often visited the shogun in Edo after the Fuso New Year, and Mr. Tanan made a mental note of this, and the conversation turned to Naohide's two books. Naohide had previously presented "Hori-style Farming" and "Hori-style Rice Field Carp" to Mr. Tanan, who said at the time that he would conduct a small-scale inspection at Nirayama.

In "Hori-style Farming", it is mainly explained that wheelbarrows, sweet potatoes, potatoes, compost, soybean fertilizer, cattle and horse fertilizer, and plant ash should not be shared with gold fertilizer, and "Hori-style Rice Field Carp" explains how to raise freshwater fish in suitable rice fields.

Mr. Tanan said that this year's test was a great success, and that he was preparing to promote it on a large scale in Nirayama after the New Year, and if the harvest was still good, he would go to the shogunate, and he would also give credit to Naohide at that time.

The shogunate has always attached great importance to agriculture, and in addition to developing agriculture for the benefit of society, Naohide also pinned his hopes on the improvement of his family's personality, which seems to be a lot of hope at present.

After visiting Mr. Tanan, Naohide visited Oguri Tadajun, Katsuyoshikuni, Sakuma Zoyama, Nakajima Saburosuke, Edo Sandoba, Kondo Shusuke, the old man of the trial guard hall, Uraga Ryotei Nakajima Kijiro, Che Zenshichi, etc., and it was already approaching the New Year after a round of visits, but there was still an important person who needed to be specially visited by Naohide.
