Chapter 2: The Mysterious Woman
The so-called bootleg goods are those that belong to him and are different from those normally provided by the company. Evans brought two or three more odd-shaped things and put them in his backpack. Pete didn't see what it was, and he didn't ask, after all, everyone was not familiar enough to ask about other people's personal belongings at will, and he observed other people, and found that everyone else seemed to be surprised by Evans's things, let alone ask, and there was no one who even took a second look.
When everything was ready, everyone stood by until dinner in the evening, before leaving McLean and going to the airport to board a plane to the U.S.-Mexico border. Early the next morning, I arrived at the police station in the border city of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In the parking lot outside the police station, the Man-Eating Shark Squad meets John and picks up the gear that has already arrived first. This time it was equipped with an M16A4 rifle, just like the Marines, but the pistol was not an M9 but a Glock 18. Others include helmets, night vision devices, body armor, tactical vests, and a complete set of communications equipment. In short, everything you can use from head to toe is complete. After dressing them all up, they met the man named Bell Bray and the rest of his entourage in the conference room of the police station.
John gives Bear Bray a brief introduction to the Man-Eating Shark Squad and tells him where he needs to cooperate fully.
While everyone was standing still, Pete quickly observed the group. This Mr. Bell Bray looked a little younger than the thirty-eight years old as previously indicated, and felt like he was in his early thirties. At the moment, I also seem to be more relaxed, and I don't feel any nervousness or worry. And what about the entourage of this gentleman? There were four people in total, three male and one female. The three men were also not very old, and they looked a little uncomfortable when they saw the heavily armed men of the Man-Eating Shark Squad appear. It was the woman who caught Pete's attention, as she was dressed in business attire and had a pair of glasses. But when he saw the group of people from the Man-Eating Shark Squad appear, there was no special reaction in his eyes, which was obviously different from the three men beside him. And the woman was a little away from the three of them and didn't communicate much, so it didn't look like a group at all.
"How does it feel?" As Pete observed the men, Jeff walked up to him and asked.
"How?" Pete looked at Jeff and pointed to the body armor and the tactical vest on top of his body armor and said, "Dressed like this and the terrain of this place reminds me of the people we fought against when we were in the service." ”
"Huh." Jeff smiled and said, "I feel that way too. He said and pointed to Ochoa, who was standing next to him chatting with Morris, and said, "The guy is the most nervous." ”
Pete chuckled and said, "Maybe there's really chaos there." We just don't know. Let's hope those gunmen don't show up, and even if they do, they won't be too difficult to deal with. Pete said as he noticed that John had called Donovan out after the introduction. After about half an hour, the car door was back in the conference room, and when he returned, Donovan's face was a little wrong, and he stood by the door of the conference room and shouted at Ellie, and then waved to Pete.
Pete ran towards Donovan, and when Avery arrived, Donovan looked at the others and said, "These are the five men we want to protect." You've all seen it? After seeing Pete and Ellie's affirmation, he said, "The task of the two of you is to take care of the lady." It's the woman of the five. ”
Hearing Donovan say this, Avery looked back a little strangely and said, "We're going to separate protection?" Does each group protect one person separately? ”
"Nope." Donovan shook his head and said, "It's just that you two are in charge of protecting her. Follow her at all times and make sure she's safe. The others are in charge of the rest of the team. After saying that, he looked at Pete and said, "Is there a problem?" ”
"Nope." Pete immediately shook his head.
Avery seemed to have questions, but he shook his head when he saw Pete say this.
Donovan nodded as if satisfied and said, "Let's go back." We'll set off in a moment. ”
Pete and Avery turned around and returned to the group, this time the two of them stood up unconsciously, after all, they were going to act together in a moment. Pete glanced at the woman and seemed to be right. This woman wasn't with those people, she was a special person.
About five minutes later, Donovan's voice rang out, "Check the gear." After a quick check of equipment and re-testing of the communications equipment, Donovan waved at Evans, and everyone left the conference room with Bell Bray and a few others to board the car.
The car was four Ford Explorers, Evans and Jeff in the first one. The second was Morris and Matt, and they were accompanied by the three male entourage of Bell Bray. In the third car were Donovan and Ochoa, and in the car they were Bell Bray. Pete and Avery were placed in the last car, and with the two of them was this woman of unknown origin who needed special care.
Las Cruces was not far from the border, and it didn't take long to arrive at the border checkpoint on the border line. On the other side of the border checkpoint, the governor had already sent someone to greet him. So the Man Shark Squad, a group of armed men, as Donovan had said before, quickly passed through the border control post and entered Mexico without any hindrance. A total of three cars came from the other side, and they were ordinary police cars. After receiving the Manha Shark Squad, they led the way in front of the convoy, and after entering Mexico, they entered the state of Chihuahua, or more precisely, to the north of the city of Juarez, which had changed the color of Ochoa.
"Guys, we're already in Ciudad Juarez." Evans' voice came over the car's on-board radio, "It looks calm, nothing special." ”
"It's just outside the city. If you look just outside the city, you'll see that the city of Phoenix (the western city of Phoenix) isn't much different from here. Ochoa's voice then came from the communicator.
"It's just a bad road. It's worse than we have. Matt grumbled.
"That's already the case. In my memory, it was normal to walk on a gravel, unpaved road, like outside the city. "Didn't wait for Ochoa to finish. Donovan's voice came over the car radio: "Concentrate on it." Don't make small talk. ”
Instead of entering Juárez, the convoy went around the eastern side of Juárez. Pete, who was driving the car, glanced at the city on his left from time to time. From a distance, I can only feel that many parts of the city look a little dilapidated, let alone the landmark-like high-rise buildings in a big city, and there are graffiti on the exterior walls of some buildings that can be seen. But the things that foretell danger are not seen. But just as we were getting to the southeast of Juarez, Evans' voice suddenly came from the radio again, "There are gunshots at nine o'clock." Note that there are gunshots in the direction of nine o'clock. ”
