Chapter 35 Inventory History

In April 1952, the higher authorities issued a call to launch a cultural march campaign throughout the army, with one division to run one accelerated primary school and one army to run one or two accelerated middle schools.

How many faculty members does a corps need to run two universities? Many students in the academy have been transferred to schools and become teachers, and I am also itching - I want to become teachers, but it is difficult to make personal requests.

I thought, "How good it is to be a teacher, stand on the podium and give lectures to students, impart the cultural knowledge you have learned, show your style, and realize the value of life." ”

One day in mid-April, Section Chief Qiao suddenly called me to his office, and I was startled, was there something wrong with my work? My heart was pounding. He looked at me and handed me a piece of paper, and I looked: Oh, it's a transfer order to transfer me to a teacher.

I was so happy that I almost jumped. But he still stiffened his face and said, "I don't want you to go, I can't bear you." After a few months by my side, he didn't make any mistakes, he was disciplined, he worked hard, and he was a good comrade. ”

I said, "Thank you for your attention." He looked at me and said, "Do you have any other opinions?" ”

I muttered, "Obey the organization." Section Chief Qiao smiled helplessly: "Okay, you have to work hard in your new job." He took out a high-quality gold pen from a drawer and gave it to me, saying, "Keep it as a souvenir." I took the pen and said, "Thank you, Section Chief Qiao." He saluted him with a standard military salute and went out. I was reluctant to use that gold pen, and in 1958 it was transferred to a demobilized comrade-in-arms at the preparatory school.

There was a cadre named Li Ziru, who changed his name and surname a long time ago and mixed into the column of the border area of Nanzhao Province, joined the party, became the captain, and later went to work in the academy, and was recognized by his fellow villagers during the suppression of the counter-movement, and showed his original form.

This Li Ziru, formerly known as Li Zongke, followed his uncle to do bad things at the age of thirteen, and did the deeds of killing people and extorting goods, forcing good people to become prostitutes, and killing the masses of our people. Seeing that the general trend of the reactionaries had gone, he changed his name and surname and ran to Spring City to join the army and blend into the revolutionary ranks. In this "rebellion" campaign, he could not escape the bright eyes of the people, and after investigation, it was found that he had indeed committed many bad deeds, and he was immediately escorted to his hometown for trial. This incident caused a big shock in the academy.

We have carried out the "three investigations" campaign internally, coordinated with the rural land reform and the suppression of counterrevolutionaries, and found out some bad elements, which have greatly purified the ranks of our army and enhanced the combat effectiveness of the troops.

I often warn myself to work in a down-to-earth manner, to be honest, to be modest and prudent, not to be arrogant or rash, to always be strict with high standards, to always maintain the true character of a revolutionary soldier, to forge ahead, and to be a qualified revolutionary soldier.

After studying at the academy for more than a year, I have received a particularly great political and ideological education, and I have deeply realized that we must be modest and prudent, guard against arrogance and rashness, constantly transform our world outlook, and always follow the party.

In April 1952, I left the academy and embarked on a new journey.

In mid-April, Xiong Ao and I went to teach at the Ninth Accelerated Primary School of the Fourth Artillery Division. Take the train from Chuncheng to Qujin, and not far from getting off is the Fourth Artillery Division.

The 4th Artillery Division was stationed on a low hill, which had been the enemy's barracks, which were quadrangular in shape, with mud walls and simple houses (there were also two-story buildings), all very dilapidated. The school is located in a bungalow in the northeast corner of the division headquarters. The trainees are outstanding battalion and company cadres and individual outstanding squad leaders selected from the three artillery regiments in the division, and the study period is two years.

At the first school board meeting, I got to know the school leaders. The principal's surname is Jia, he is the deputy director of the Political Department of the former Military University, and the vice president and secretary of the party branch is called Zhou, he is very young, a student was born, but he participated in the revolution early; The teaching director is called Du Geng. At the meeting, everyone introduced themselves and assigned tasks. Among the five people who came with him, Xiong Ao was in charge of teaching, Wang Xidi was in charge of the Chinese group, Wu Musheng (female) was in charge of the mathematics group, I was in charge of curriculum arrangement and logistics liaison, and the others had their own special responsibilities. At the meeting, arrangements were made for teachers' daily life issues such as food and housing and related matters related to the start of school. Xiong Ao and I lived on the second floor, with the office downstairs and four female comrades living in another building.

According to the school's arrangement, a photo exhibition of the "Cultural March" will be prepared before the start of the school year to raise students' awareness of the importance of learning culture. All the staff members took action to find materials, pictures, and objects, and made display boards, but because they started from scratch, they had no information, so they only went to the division headquarters, Qujin Jinjun Division, Qujin Prefectural Committee, and other places to find them.

With the information, I hurriedly reviewed, edited, cut and pasted, and finalized. After several deliberations and examinations, it was decided, and it is divided into five parts: the preface, various schools of our army (especially highlighting the running of schools in Yan'an), the importance of cultural knowledge, the policy of running schools, and the organization and implementation. All the contents of the exhibition were arranged in a large room, and the division and regiment leaders instructed after reading them, and then added pictures and materials to make the contents richer, more vivid, and more vivid.

In mid-May, the school officially opened after the students arrived. The school organizes visits, discussions, and discussions among the cadets, and the central topic is: the relationship between the military and culture. The purpose is to enable students to have a correct understanding of the knowledge of culture, so that they can make up their minds to learn culture. Cadres and trainees of military sub-divisions also came to visit and hold discussions, and they talked about their feelings and understanding.

On June 1, 1952, a grand opening ceremony was held for the 9th Accelerated Primary School of the 4th Artillery Division, and from then on I became a glorious cultural teacher and a gentleman of the GIs. In addition to my job, I also volunteered to teach nature two hours a week. At that time, the school mainly focused on Chinese and mathematics, plus four courses: nature and music.

I remember the first time I went to teach the students, and as soon as I walked into the classroom, the staff on duty shouted, "Stand up!" The students stood up with a "bang" and said in unison: "Hello instructor", my heart beat nervously, I almost didn't dare to face up to these battle-hardened and respectable heroes, for fear that I would not be able to teach well and be ashamed of the trust of the leaders and students.

The nature course mainly teaches natural science knowledge, and guides students to establish a materialist view of science through the teaching of scientific knowledge. Of course, it is impossible for these students, who have been tempered in the revolutionary war for a long time, to get rid of the one-sided understanding of certain natural phenomena in the old days through a few lectures, but they are realists, attach importance to practical experience, see is believing, and hearing is false, which requires teachers to use real objects, specimens, and models to strengthen intuitive teaching, otherwise, they will not believe what the teacher says.
