Chapter 13 Three years of filial piety to repay deep gratitude
During the ceremony, some of Lu Jing's classmates and friends in Qinglin Academy also came to pay respects, among which two of his close friends, Ge Yin and Chen Ting, also took the initiative to come to Lu's house and have been helping him to handle the chores in the house for many days, which greatly touched his heart.
Lu Jing studied in Qinglin Academy for three years, and graduated from Qinglin Academy in the examination, Qinglin Academy is a school founded by Guo Xianzhi, a great Confucian in Jiangnan.
Righteousness and sincerity refer to those who want to cultivate their bodies, first correct their hearts; Those who want to correct their hearts must first be sincere; If you want to be sincere, you should know it first; Enlightenment is in Gewu, the truth of knowledge is action, and the clear and perceptive place of action is knowledge.
Because of Guo Xianzhi's advocacy of practical values, many students in Jiangnan have studied at Qinglin Academy.
Guo Xianzhi and Lu Yu have a deep friendship, and he also takes great care of Lu Jing, he learned the news of Lu Yun's death, and endured his grief to make a couplet in person: "The sorrow is irretrievable, and the crying follows the wild crane flying", remembering Lu Yun.
Although Lu Jing has made friends all over Qinglin Academy, the only people who can be called close friends are Ge Yin and Chen Ting.
Among them, Ge Yin is the same age as him, the eldest son of Ge Yu, the current governor of Yangzhou, and the tenth place in this year's Jiangnan Township Test.
He has a wise personality, is generous, treats people quite sincerely, and has a deep friendship with Lu Jing, and the Lu family and the Ge family have also been friends for many years.
When Lu Yu served as the prefect of Yangzhou, Ge Yu served as the governor of Yangzhou and was Lu Yu's deputy.
When Lu Jing was tinkering with those businesses, the first business partner he found was Ge Yin, and most of Lu Jing's businesses were also Ge Yin's participation, but as Lu Jing gave up some businesses one after another, Ge Yin also abandoned those businesses.
Chen Ting is a son of a poor family, 21 years old this year, his father was originally famous for his talent, but unfortunately died young, leaving only a few acres of thin property to Chen Ting's mother and son.
When Chen Ting was young, his mother did embroidery work for him to study, Chen Ting knew his mother's hard work, so he studied very hard, and the emperor lived up to his painstaking efforts.
Lu Jing saw that Chen Ting was square and flexible, so he often funded him, and later directly pulled him into the gang and participated in some businesses, Chen Ting was also one of Lu Jing's best friends.
Over the years, some businessmen who Lu Jing has made friends in the process of doing business have also come to mourn, among which Qi Changqing, the beach owner of the Jiangnan Salt Gang, also came to Lu Mansion every day to help Lu Jing deal with many trivial matters, which made him quite emotional.
The salt gang has a long history, the salt gang in the Sichuan-Tibet region is called the Inoue Gang, and the salt gang in the Jiangnan region is called the beach gang, the Jiangnan Salt Gang is headquartered in Suzhou, the gang leader Ma Wensheng, Yangzhou and Huai'an have garrison personnel, Yangzhou's beach owner is Qi Changqing, although Qi Changqing is a reckless man, but he is very bold and righteous.
Lu Jing once used the channel of the Salt Gang to transport goods, and he had many dealings with Qi Changqing, and he also recognized Qi Changqing's character, and he handed over a lot of business to Qi Changqing the year before last.
Although the two are in their twenties, they have always been more temperamental, so they are called brothers, and later they have experienced some things together, and now Lu Jing and Qi Changqing can be regarded as having a lifelong friendship.
On the eleventh day of the ceremony, Lu Jing's uncle, who served as a student in Jiangnan Province in Jinling, also rushed to Lu Mansion with his aunt and two daughters.
Lu Jing's uncle's name is Li Shouzhi, and Lu Jing didn't care about it when he first heard this name more than ten years ago.
It wasn't until later that his aunt gave birth to two daughters in succession and named them Li Wen and Li Qi respectively, that he suddenly realized that his aunt was the one who took Li Wen and Li Qi to the capital to visit relatives a few years later, and then because of Li Kun, Aunt Li who lived in Jiafu, he finally knew that Li Kun's father, Li Shouzhong, the former prince of the country, was Li Shouzhi's eldest brother.
Lu Jing just wanted to look up to the sky and sigh at that time, many characters in Dream of Red Mansions were actually related to his family, I don't know if it was fortunate or unfortunate.
At the same time, he also had some doubts in his heart: why did Cao Weng only mention his aunt and grandmother, and never mentioned the Lu family in the book, and later figured out that if he hadn't crossed over, the original Lu Jing would have died when he was three years old, and the Lu family would have been defeated with Lu Yu's death a few years later, drowning in the dust of history.
Every time Lu Jing thinks of this, he feels like a mountain, and now the fate of the Lu family's house is all tied to him, and the Lu clan also needs him to be at the helm.
Lu Jing takes her sister to Jinling every year to visit her uncle and aunt, so the two siblings are very familiar with Li Wen and Li Qi.
Li Wen was born in the 31st year of Yankang, which is one year older than Luk Zhiyu, while Li Qi was born in the 33rd year of Yankang, which is one year younger than Luk Zhiyu.
Because of their similar ages, the relationship between the three is quite good, so Lu Jing begged her aunt to take Li Wen and Li Qi to stay in Lu Mansion for a few more days, so that Li Wen and Li Qi can accompany her sister and relieve the grief in her sister's heart.
After the end of the festival on this day, it was not until the night was dark and Lu Jing sent away the last batch of old people that he had time to go to see his sister.
These days, Lu Zhiyu has fainted sadly several times, which makes Lu Jing very distressed, but he has a lot of things to do every day, and he can't take care of his sister at all times, so he can only take advantage of the gap time to send away guests every day to comfort Lu Zhiyu.
"Sister, let's eat something!" Lu Jing hugged his sister, who had not dried his tears, and said with pity in his heart, he looked at his sister who had lost weight in just a few days, and became more and more worried about his sister's body.
"Brother, I don't want to eat!" Lu Zhiyu buried her head in Lu Jing's arms and cried as she spoke: "Brother, Daddy doesn't want Zhiyu anymore!" ”
After crying for a while, Lu Zhiyu stood up, wiped away her tears, and said with a cry: "My brother is also tired for a day, so let's go to rest first, I'll go to the mourning hall to accompany my father!" ”
Lu Jing looked at his sister who seemed to have grown up overnight, and his heart was full of pity: "You also followed the second aunt to entertain female guests for a day today, and you are tired enough, sleep for a while and then go to accompany your father, my father has me there!" ”
"Zhiyu is not tired, I want to accompany my father!" Lu Zhiyu shook her head stubbornly and said, tears falling down her pale little face in strings.
Lu Jing hurriedly hugged her sister and comforted her, and after Lu Zhiyu was tired of crying, she fell asleep in Lu Jing's arms.
Lu Jing looked at her sister who was crying in her sleep, put her back on the bed distressedly, and told the maids to take care of her, so she went out to arrange the vigil at night.
In the blink of an eye, the funeral on the 49th ended, Lu Jing said goodbye to his aunt and Li Wen's sisters, and then dismissed some of the domestic servants and arranged the left-behind personnel in Yangzhou.
After Lu Jing dealt with the family in Yangzhou, he took the Lu family and sent Lu Yu's coffin back to Gusu, buried his father in the ancestral tomb of Gusu, and buried him with his mother, and then Lu Jing lived in the ancestral house of Gusu to mourn and keep filial piety.
The fetus is heavy in October, and the return is light in three years, and it is generally necessary to be held by the parents for two years before it can take care of itself, plus one year in the mother's womb, and one month of confinement, and the three years before and after are grown up in the arms of the parents.
These three years are also the hardest and most tiring three years for parents, so after the death of their parents, children should also keep filial piety for three years to repay their parents for the grace of these three years.
Mourning and filial piety originated from the Zhou ceremony, according to the different blood relatives, the funeral etiquette is also different, the law of this dynasty set this as five levels, and stipulated that the funeral should be in accordance with the rites and clothes.
The first class is called beheading, and sons and unmarried daughters are required to wear the coarsest garments made of raw linen cloth and mourn their parents for three years, and daughters-in-law are in-laws, grandchildren are grandparents, and wives are husbands.
The second class is called Qi Yuan, where grandchildren and unmarried granddaughters need to wear raw linen filial piety clothes and mourn their grandparents for a year.
The third class is called Dagong, which requires wearing a cooked linen cloth for nine months, and the deceased's married daughter, direct nephew, unmarried niece, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles need to wear this mourning dress.
After Jia Min's death, Yili Jia Baoyu, Tanchun, Yingchun and others all needed to mourn Jia Min for nine months.
The fourth class is called Xiaogong, and the younger generations of collateral relatives, in addition to the women who have already married, need to be cooked in linen cloth clothes to wear filial piety for their maternal grandparents, maternal uncles, and maternal aunts for five months.
The fifth class is called hemp, and the younger generations wear filial piety for three months for great-grandparents, clan uncles, clan brothers and sisters, and parents-in-law.
These five grades are also known as the five costumes, and relatives who have come out of the five costumes only need to wear sackcloth during the worship.
During the mourning period, the children need to live at home, cut off entertainment and social interactions, as a sign of mourning.
Of course, the three years of filial piety are not 36 months in the conventional sense, but the first and last three years.
Initially, filial piety is only observed from the first year to the first month of the third year, for example, from May of this year, and then after 12 months of the second year, you can take off your mourning clothes in January of the third year.
However, this kind of filial piety is too far from the so-called 36 months, and it may be over in only 10 months.
Therefore, Confucianism put forward the regulation of the time of mourning, and initially put forward the provision of 25 months to mourn, that is, 12 months in a year, 24 months in two years, as long as there is one more month, then no matter what time the mourning begins, as long as the number of 25 months is enough, it can be guaranteed that three years have passed, and it is in line with the etiquette of three years of filial piety.
However, new problems have arisen in the process of keeping filial piety for 25 months, because leap months have to appear frequently, seven leaps in 19 years, and there will be a leap month in more than two years on average, and filial piety will go through three years, it is easy to frame a leap month, once the frame is in the leap month, although it is 25 months, but in fact it is only two years plus a leap month.
Therefore, it was improved to 26 months of filial piety, and later considering the problem of head and tail run, another month was added, and it became 27 months of filial piety, so the so-called three years of filial piety actually refers to 27 months of filial piety.
Lu Jing during the period of filial piety, the family business and the old relationship between the old friends have been sorted out, and now as the patriarch of the Lu family, he naturally has to be responsible for the affairs of the public middle school in the clan, and in addition to Lu Jun, there are clansmen living in Gusu.
Therefore, Lu Jing bought a hundred acres of sacrificial land again, rectified the clan science, hired a new husband, and increased the support for the family science, as long as the children who are outstanding in reading, they can receive two taels of silver from the clan every month.
In order to alleviate the pain in his sister's heart and divert her attention, Lu Jing also invited a female gentleman for his sister Zhiyu to teach her to read and paint, and he often taught his sister some principles of how to behave in the world.
At the same time, Lu Jing sent his henchman Lu Zheng and asked him to lead a team to the capital, on the one hand, to take care of the business in Beijing, and the most important thing is to collect information in Beijing and find out the news in Beijing.
And the scope of the investigation is not only Jiafu, but also other places have his eyeliner, after all, he is now living in a living world, and the main plot in the Dream of Red Mansions revolves around Jiafu, and there are few accounts of many major events in the capital, and if he wants to get news from other places, he also needs to send someone to investigate.
