What exactly is a literati?

Let's start with the beginnings thousands or even tens of thousands of years ago.

The essence of human beings has basically been determined after the evolution of the brain, and based on the basic attributes of human beings -- that is, our basic attributes -- there is only one way for people to mature and improve: to experience things repeatedly, to use thinking, to gain experience. Even in the future, things can only be done this way.

An important factor for human beings to surpass animals is the invention of language and writing, so that the experience of predecessors can be passed down, and the predecessors can experience things instead of you, think, and then have conclusions, the accumulation of generations, and human beings establish the current society.

The meaning of reading a book is to gain the experience of others, for example, when we read a novel, by simulating an "experience", thinking in this "experience", obtaining nutrition, when you have simulated the same thing ten times or eight times, and finally encountered a real thing, you can at least have a number in your heart.

So what were the ancient literati?

By studying, you gain more experience than others, and thus become the ruling class, which naturally produces a sense of superiority and looks down on others. has been criticized in modern times, and it is worth mentioning that the "literati" have more social experience and understand the cruelty of society.

But what is a modern literati?

In the past, we have called "the people's eyes are bright" and "stinky old nine", and suddenly as long as there are people, it is best to have no literati, but in modern society, information has exploded, and books have been everywhere, which of you has not read books? Who can't see a book? Who can still make real class differences after reading a book?

But the basic attributes of people have not changed, to be more mature and sensible, you need more experience, more thinking, more horizontal comparisons of life, you are an individual, you can't take chances.

Why hate the literati?

In modern society, those who hate literati, IMHO, are the kind of people who are really lazy, they don't read books, they don't improve themselves, but they still think that they can be naturally right in the face of certain complex things, and they prefer not to use their brains, not to work hard, but still compare with those who are smart, hard-working, and constantly enterprising.

But it's not comparable.

Modern society has defeated the classes of the past, but the class of wisdom still exists, and will still exist in the foreseeable future, which is simply manifested in: smart people can find a way to do a thing faster, and stupid people can do it badly, and the class can be reflected and promoted in this matter.

If you want to be smart, one is to think, and the other is to read. In the past 30 years of development, classes have emerged, and after realizing the importance of education, the concept of "winning at the starting line" has also appeared, rich people put their children into good schools, find good teachers, the so-called "good" must be reflected in the ability to help children absorb nutrients from books faster, these children will become better people, they can crush stupid people in essence, stupid people will become the real bottom of society. But in the past, this class is not very fixed, because books are all over the world, it depends on whether you have a sense of urgency.

There are several qualities about reading:

1. Reading can act as a proxy for "experience", but what you gain must be multiplied by thinking, that is, smart people can get more from books, which is unavoidable.

2. Reading does not completely replace "experience", you read a certain experience in a book, keep thinking, this thinking is implemented, to be beneficial to you in reality, you still have to experience a certain event, in this matter, you may still be in a hurry, but if you don't read a book, you may be in a hurry ten times or eight times, and then get the right lesson.

There is a truth in this book, and there is a truth in that book, why the two exist at the same time, you can find more detailed solutions and explanations, and after more comparison, you can find the law that is applicable to all the world.

For example, if we look at Confucius's "Analects", we must determine that Confucius's goal is to "cultivate gentlemen and establish a Datong society", and he is faced with the current situation in the Spring and Autumn Period, so the essence of the "Analects" is, "how to achieve some ideas of Datong society in the Spring and Autumn Period", in the solution of this equation, there is the logical structure of Confucius's whole person, if we can understand these, if he is facing modern society, "some ideas of how to achieve Datong society in modern times", the solution will inevitably be different. Reading books, extracting the way of thinking and logical structure of the writer, then when facing things, we will have countless horizontal comparisons, which is the most fundamental purpose of reading, not to learn the bows of predecessors, but to learn their logical core.

This is some of the most basic things, originally I thought about needless to say, and even considered not to be so shallow, but even now, there are still so many people who unconditionally despise "literati", do you really despise "humanities" to gain a little sense of superiority, or do you really despise "culture"? The future is a professional society, and when facing things, do you rely on your innate genius mind, or the commentary of professionals? But the professionals have no bones left. Culture, people don't think that culture supports the framework of a society, people see it as just a tool to make money for themselves, then, when they can make money, there is nothing distorted at all. When the professionals of the whole society are doing this, one day he said that gutter oil is not harmful, do you have to eat it?

"The eyes of the masses are bright" does not mean that the masses are unconditionally correct, but that the masses have the purest understanding of things that are close to them, for example, you are talking about the sky, we are seeing more and more smog, and the government has to solve it. The masses must always make demands, experts make solutions, and the government implements them, and so on, and society can achieve a virtuous circle. But in the hearts of some distorted people, they feel that they are clear, that is, they are right about everything, even if I have never read books or used my brain in my life, I say how society should do it, others have to believe it, nonsense, isn't it? We have long been close to the truth if we can govern the country by relying on the second middle school, and I have also passed the second middle school, so it is not simple, but it is not enough to kill all the people who have bad deeds.

In the end, society relies on wisdom to show the way, and this direction is very narrow, far less wide than we think. But the way to obtain wisdom will not change anymore, which is to let our brains "experience" again and again, constantly "think" and "compare", and finally obtain a basic logical framework that can fit the world. The naivety and cuteness of people will never come close to the truth, you hide at home, do not use your brains, and then despise the "literati", and will never prove that you are smarter than the scholars. If you want to become an excellent person, you can go through it, and you can read a lot of books instead of part of the "experience", but when it comes to conversion, no one can take it lightly, and the bones of the literati are our bones.

To despise the literati of antiquity lies in the contempt for the class that came from it. In modern times, it is true stupidity to despise others for reading more books and using more brains.

These things were originally the basic knowledge of enlightenment, but I have seen that there are indeed such people among my readers, in a modern society, who hope to prove that they are just as brilliant and great without reading and using their brains by despising "literati" and "culture", and gain a sense of superiority.

It's human nature to gain a sense of superiority, but I hope that my readers will not be left at the bottom. Books are always a shortcut to a strong oneself.
