Chapter 388: Pulsatilla
Tang Zhaozong believed that he was unbreakable in the local power structure of the Tang Dynasty, and in fact, only Tang Zhangwei had such a status.
Now, Tang Zhaozong hopes to solve the crisis he is facing through the improvement of his martial arts, which is an idea, but if Tang Zhangwei does not give him a chance, or Tang Zhangwei inadvertently makes a move, it will lead to the failure of Tang Zhaozong's hard work.
Many times, Tang Zhangwei's almost unintentional actions would also embarrass Tang Zhaozong, such as Tang Zhangwei deliberately kept a clown Sun Duolu who he was also satisfied with, just because Sun Duolu could embarrass Tang Zhaozong. However, because Tang Zhangwei didn't kill this old man.
Tang Zhaozong could only let this old man point fingers in the palace, this pulsatilla gave Tang Zhaozong countless embarrassments, but Tang Zhaozong could only use self-deprecation to resolve the embarrassment.
He didn't have a chance, he didn't have a glimmer of hope. She's in charge of everything. Time is hers. He belongs to her. She felt no pity. There is no remorse. There was only a dead silence.
As she had done countless times before, the Confessor of the Holy Spirit calmly loosened her restraint. Eventually, the loosened force slammed into Toffler's body.
A silent lightning strike set off a violent wave of air. The mud from the puddle around her leaped up and scattered in the air.
Toffler's eyes widened, the muscles in his face froze, and his mouth opened wide.
"Mistress!" He whispered respectfully.
Her face was a mixture of calm and anger, and with all the strength of her body, she pushed Toffler away and pushed her into the circle that surrounded Richard and Cindy. He swung his arm into the shadow, causing him to scream on contact with the shadow before falling to the dirt. The contact creates a small gap. She rushed in without hesitation, and as soon as she rushed in, the gap closed.
Karen pounced on Cindy at once.
"Hurry up!" Richard shouted.
Cindy didn't look at her, his gaze fixed on the shadow, his mouth wide open, all his muscles tense. She tried to pull the stone out of his clenched little fist, but fear made his fingers wrap tightly around the stone. She snatched the pouch from his other hand. She grasped the pouch and his wrist with her left hand, and with her right hand began to break the little fingers wrapped around the stone, praying for him to let go. He didn't hear her words. Blood flowed from the wound and mixed with the rain and onto the fingers, becoming slippery.
A shadowy palm poked into her face, and she winced. The blade slammed in front of her, splitting the shadow. Its wails are joined by the wails of other shadows. Cindy's eyes were fixed on the shadow, and all her muscles stiffened. Richard stood right beside her, swinging his sword frantically around. There is no room for retreat. Only the bodies of the three of them were left in the middle. Cindy's slippery fingers still won't open.
Gritting her teeth, she struggled to hold back the tearing pain from the wound on her right arm, and finally she pulled Cindy's fingers away. Blood and mud slid out of his fingers like melon seeds, and landed in the dirt beside her knees. She pressed on it almost reflexively, and grabbed it with a hand full of mud. She jerked it into her pouch and swooped it tight. She looked up, gasping for air.
The shadow stops moving. She could hear Richard's heavy breathing as he continued to chop at them. Slowly, the shadow began to retreat, as if confused, lost its purpose, and looking for. They then dissolved back into the air and retreated back to hell. After a while, they were all gone. In addition to Toffler's body, only the three of them were left on the dirt floor of the empty square.
Ignoring the rain running down her cheeks, Karen took Cindy into her arms and hugged the boy who began to cry tightly.
Richard closed his eyes tiredly and fell to his knees on the mud, his head bowed, gasping for air.
"Karen," Cindy said, sobbing, "they just kept calling my name. ”
"I know," she whispered in his ear, kissing him, "everything is fine now." You are brave. Be as brave as a real hunter. ”
He wrapped his arms around her neck. She comforted him, feeling weak and trembling. They almost lost their lives to save a child. She had told the explorers not to do so, but they went without even thinking about it. How could they not think further at all? Cindy's arms around her make it all come at a cost. Richard still held the sword in both hands, the tip of the sword propped up in the dirt. She reached out and put her hand on his shoulder.
As soon as her hand touched his shoulder, he reflexively lifted his head, and the sword jerked up, finally stopping in front of her. Karen jumped in surprise. Richard's widening eyes burned with rage.
"Richard," she was shocked, "it's me." It's over. I didn't expect it to scare you. ”
He relaxed his muscles and fell to the mud himself.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, still trying to slow down his rapid breathing. "When your hand touches me...... I guess I thought it was a shadow. ”
Suddenly they were surrounded by legs. She glanced up. Birdman stood on the sidelines, along with Selwin and Winslin. Wenslin cried loudly. Karen stood up and carried her son to her. Wincelyn held the baby to her husband, then put her arms around Karen and kissed her desperately on the face.
"Thank you, Confessing Sage, for saving my child." She said loudly. "Thank you, Karen, thank you."
"I know, I know." Karen hugged her back. "Everything is fine now."
With tears streaming down his face, Wenslin turned around and took Cindy in his arms. Karen saw Toffler lying to the side, already dead. She relaxed, fell exhausted on the mud, and lifted her knees.
She pressed her face to her knees, couldn't control herself anymore, and began to cry bitterly. Not because she killed Toffler, but because she hesitated. The mistake nearly cost her life, almost the lives of Richard and Cindy—everyone. Because she didn't want Richard to see what she was going to do, because of her hesitation, she almost gave the victory to Raha. Not counting not not telling Richard that she was a confessor, it was the stupidest thing she had ever done. Her body twitched and whimpered, tears of frustration pouring out.
A hand reached into her uninjured arm and pulled her up. It's Birdman. She bit her trembling lip and forced herself to stop crying. She couldn't let these people see her vulnerable side. She is a penitent.
