The gas generator used by the crossing group has a considerable scale, but the problem of shortage of experienced manpower has not been solved. Even important projects such as steel mills do not have enough skilled manpower.

At that time, some of the patriarchs of the mechanical and metallurgical ports believed that the iron-mixing furnace was an important process equipment in the open-hearth steelmaking method and should be included in the manufacturing project. The so-called iron mixing furnace is the equipment that is mainly used to regulate and balance the supply and demand of molten iron between the blast furnace and the converter, to ensure the uninterrupted supply of molten iron required by the converter, and the molten iron is stored and mixed in the iron mixing furnace and the uniform temperature of the molten iron, which is very beneficial to the converter steelmaking. With the iron mixing furnace, the molten pig iron in the blast furnace can directly enter the open-hearth furnace for steelmaking, eliminating the need to cast iron ingots first and then melt them in the iron furnace when making steel, which can save a lot of fuel. Take advantage of continuous production.
However, in terms of specific manufacturing, the mechanical port found that to make a mixing furnace with a capacity of 50 tons of molten iron, it also needed to be able to move and flip. There were a number of challenges in the manufacture of many critical moving parts, and the decision was eventually made to use the less economical but simple process of smelting pig iron ingots ā waiting for the materials to be improved in the future.
This problem fully exposes the shortcomings caused by the lack of materials. Jiang Ye thought that if it weren't for the metallurgical department's inability to ensure the supply of sufficient steel grades, it would not have been impossible to manufacture these parts. Fortunately, the furnace is only an auxiliary equipment for improvement, not a decisive production equipment.
The new steelmaking plant of Lingao Iron and Steel Company no longer uses the converter steelmaking method of the past, the so-called Besaimai steelmaking method. The more efficient Siemens-Martin steelmaking method - open-hearth method - was adopted. Open-hearth furnaces are not only used in the steelmaking industry, but also in the glass industry and other smelting industries. It is a highly productive process.
Open-hearth steelmaking is a large-scale steelmaking method that uses open-hearth furnace gas as fuel to melt and refine raw materials such as pig iron, scrap steel, and high-grade iron ore into molten steel under the condition of direct heating by a combustion flame. In the old space, it was the main steelmaking method that was still in use until the 1960s, and its production efficiency and steel quality were much higher than that of the traditional Bessemel converter method. The basic principle of operation of an open-hearth furnace is heat storage, and it does not require a separate regenerative chamber - it has its own regenerative chamber.
In converter steelmaking, the heat required for smelting comes from the smelting process itself, i.e. the heat generated by the charge during the chemical reaction. The open-hearth method requires heat to be provided by the outside world, and in simple terms, it uses an efficient, controllable and relatively clean gaseous fuel - coal gas.
