Chapter 641 - 1935 (I)

Bucharest in March is full of spring, and on this day its owner returns.

After spending almost a year in Bulgaria, Eder is finally back in the city he knows best. Although he has been in Bulgaria for almost a year, he still knows very well who his basic plate is.

And the mountains of official documents in Romania also need to wait for him to deal with. Although it is possible to handle official documents from Romania in Bulgaria, it is also troublesome to not be able to ask many things in person.

For example, he needs to deal with the matter of army expansion. And the exchange of telegrams is easy to leak, although it is possible to recruit the chief of the General Staff, General Fereit, to Sofia, but it is too delayed and too conspicuous.

So this time when he returned to Bucharest, Eder was not only the first to see his long-lost family, but also to deal with a bunch of military and political affairs.

It should be noted here that Prince Victor's career at the military academy is over. The mischievous demon king of the world is gone, and when he reappears in front of Edel's son, his strong military temperament can't be concealed. Eder threw his son, who had graduated from military school, into the Praetorian Guard and gave him another exercise.

After all, his situation at that time was different from that of his son, and he was not as old as his father Carol, so he had time for his son to exercise slowly.

After taking care of the family affairs, Edel immediately threw himself into his busy work. After finishing the work on his hands, Eder summoned Admiral Fereit to discuss the army's expansion plan.

Speaking of this military expansion plan, in fact, it is also inseparable from the impact of the economy. Romania's economic stimulus package is now coming to an end, and the impact of the over-issuance of currency is gradually being felt. Moreover, Romania also lacks dumping grounds for commodities, and the impact of expanding production but lacking dumping grounds is gradually becoming apparent.

Although Romania is gradually expanding its sales channels in the Balkans and the Far East, the expansion of the market is far from comparable to the explosion of production capacity. At present, the manufacturing PMI index is clearly in a state of decline, which makes the government obviously feel the pressure.

This effect was already evident in the statistics of the end of 1934, when the country's economic growth was only 5.1 per cent. Although this is still not low, it is much lower than the previous figures, considering that even in 1930 the domestic economy was above 6%.

This also indicates that the effect of large-scale economic stimulus is not working, and problems that have been hidden by economic growth are gradually coming to the surface. This was the main reason why Eder wanted to rush back to Bucharest. To put it bluntly, Romania lacks a market large enough to accommodate its explosive production of goods.

Of course, the government is not doing nothing, and its export tax rebates, encouraging industrial upgrading, and striving to open up markets are all doing. Romania has signed economic and trade cooperation agreements with the Czech Republic, Sweden, Latvia and other countries to expand the market for domestic goods, and at the same time encourage consumption at home so that people can buy more goods.

However, Romania has always been an export-oriented economy, and although the affluence of the domestic population is decent in the Balkans and Central Europe, there is still a gap compared to Western Europe, so the amount of products that can be consumed in the country is limited.

At this time, there is actually only one way for Romania to face the problem, that is, to expand its armaments and war, and use the military industry to stimulate domestic demand.

And this decision must be made by Eder himself, and others simply cannot and dare not do it, so this time Eder needs the opinion of the military.

"Your Majesty, this is a plan prepared by the military."

The Chief of the General Staff, Ferreut, handed the elaborate plan to Eder. This military expansion was carefully prepared by the military after receiving hints from Edel. And this is not just a plan for the expansion of the army, but also some changes to the Romanian establishment.

Edel opened the proposal and saw it; In order to meet the needs of future wars, it was necessary to carry out a certain replenishment of Romanian divisional troops. Based on the experience of previous wars and the adaptation of new equipment, the following changes have been made to Romanian divisional units.

The first is to strengthen the divisional troops, and the first is to reduce the number of cavalry in the divisional reconnaissance battalion and increase the number of armored vehicles in order to improve their control over the battlefield. The 315 horses in the reconnaissance battalion were changed to 154, and 27 armoured vehicles and 48 motorcycles were added.

Second, in view of the current air defense needs, an air defense battalion has been added to the division's subordinate units, with 12 20-mm anti-aircraft guns, 38 wheeled vehicles, and 347 officers and men.

The artillery regiment also needs to be reorganized, and the current divisional 75-caliber artillery of various types of artillery will be delegated to the infantry regiment in order to improve its independent combat capability. And the artillery regiment will be re-armed with 105 howitzers, 36 cannons, 150 howitzers, 8 howitzers. There are 40 motorcycles, 150 wheeled vehicles, 129 horse-drawn carriages, and 1,274 horses.

In addition, the anti-tank company will also be upgraded to a battalion, which will have 36 50-mm anti-tank guns, 45 motorcycles, 96 wheeled vehicles, and 481 officers and men.

In addition, the division and baggage regiment: 2,100 people, 30 light machine guns, 88 motorcycles, 283 wheeled vehicles, 195 carriages, and 535 horses.

In addition to the reinforcement of the divisional units, changes were made in the infantry regiments. The three battalions of the infantry regiment remain unchanged, but in terms of regimental strength, there is a mixed artillery battalion with 12 75-mm infantry guns, 18 81-mm mortars, and 8 50-mm anti-tank guns. There were 47 motorcycles, 93 wheeled vehicles, 180 horse-drawn carriages and 483 horses. The regiment had 3,340 officers and men, 126 light machine guns and 36 heavy machine guns.

Infantry battalion 860 people: 32 people battalion headquarters (including command class, communication team, engineer class), 3 * infantry company 603 people, 1 * fire support company (177 people), combat supply group 28 people.

Infantry company 201 people: 11 people company headquarters, 3 * infantry platoons, 7 people anti-tank group, 33 logistics personnel.

Infantry platoon 50 people: components: 6 people platoon department, 4 * infantry squad, 3 people mortar group, 1 man.

Infantry squad 10 people: components: squad leader, 3 machine gun crew, deputy squad leader, five infantrymen.

According to this establishment, a standard infantry division in Romania will have an establishment of up to 17,500 men, an increase of more than 2,000 compared with the previous one. The increase in personnel is mainly in the divisional annex units, and of course the infantry regiment has also been increased, which is also expanded into the subordinate units.

The armament of the division is as follows; Pistols - 3681 pieces, rifles - 12609 pieces, submachine guns - 321 pieces, anti-tank guns - 90 pieces, light machine guns - 425 pieces, heavy machine guns - 110 pieces, 50-mm mortars - 84 pieces, 81-mm mortars - 54 pieces, 75-mm guns - 36 pieces, 105-mm light howitzers - 36 pieces, 105 cannons 12 pieces, 150-mm heavy howitzers - 8 pieces, flamethrowers - 9 pieces.
