Zhang Yingchen's fandom about Neo-Taoism
The following articles are all written by Thief Quanzi of Longkong Forum (Dragon Set in the book: Zhang Yingchen). Founder of Lingao New Taoist Concept:
Summary of Zhang Yingchen's diary:
The conference was about to take place, and I visited the temple in the Lingao area for several days in a row. Obviously, religious activities in the Lingao area have not yet been on the right track, and the status of Taoist and Buddhist clergy in the local area is extremely low, and these clergy themselves are not qualified as religious personnel. In addition to chanting the treasure scrolls, they basically lack the quality of regular religious personnel, whether it is the flame mouth or the confession, they are not proficient, and a large part of them are illiterate.
The low quality of Taoist and Buddhist religious personnel has given Lingao a great space for the folk religion to operate, and likewise, it has also given the Jesuit Society a great future for development.
After meeting with the Lingao Church and the Abbot Wu, I was convinced that if the Lingao Church continued to develop without checks and balances, it would eventually gain the status of the state religion in the traversal regime.
However, most of us travelers don't seem to realize the significance of the existence of a state religion. Yes, at the moment we are an elite group influenced by atheism, and the Lingao Church, which is subject to the religious office, cannot compete with the Crossing Group at any level. But in this 17th century, when compulsory education and materialist ideas were not yet universal, there was no doubt that the Church would have a much wider influence than our education.
We can pass through the Syndicate without being bewitched by its nonsense, but what about our descendants, our subjects? Obviously, we will not influence most of them with Marxist-Leninist materialism or any theory of industrialized society. In fact, judging by the performance of the soy sauce party members who made up the vast majority of the maid revolution, they would not be concerned about this issue either.
It is conceivable that in a few decades, the Lingao Church will become a decisive force in influencing society, and after the time-travelers grow old, its influence will continue to expand, and it will even turn against the time-traveler regime itself.
I think we need a checker and balance in the Church of Lingao to balance the dominance of this monster we have created with our own hands, and perhaps this is the mission that God has given me.

In modern times, the Quanzhen and Zhengyi sects we see are the standard models of immortal Taoism. However, if we go back to the oldest Heavenly Master Dao and Taiping Dao, and pay attention to the Taiping Sutra and the Xianger Note, we will find that primitive Taoism is not very interested in all kinds of methods for pursuing immortality.
For example, "Xiang'er" commented that the Fangshi Tuna's guidance and visualization of the gods at that time were "pseudo-arts", and called those Taoist schools that sacrificed ghosts and gods "pseudo-Taoism", while "Xiang'er Note" advocated keeping the precepts and approaching the way. However, the Heavenly Master Dao quickly merged with Bashu's Ghost Dao, adding a large number of charms and spells and other content that it originally opposed. Such a religious evolution, of "carrying the red flag against the red flag", was similar in various denominations in the Middle Ages.
For example, Christianity, influenced by the pagan faith of Rome, began to absorb the gods of various European peoples as saints; Islam in South and Central Asia retained the shamanic worship of spirits; After Indian Buddhism was introduced to the Central Plains, combined with Taoist thought, Zen Buddhism was born.
Even the priests of our religious office, Bai Shi and Dean Wu, when they spread Christianity, they had to accommodate the customs of the Ming Dynasty.
The alienation of doctrine by heterogeneous civilizations is an inevitable problem in missionary work. Although we have knowledge and historical experience far beyond this era, it is a pity that this problem is still unavoidable. However, Lingao's ideology is destined to replace the old ideology, and Lingao's religion is destined to replace the old religion, whether it is Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Buddhism, and traditional Taoism, they will inevitably be replaced by Lingao's religion.
Throughout history, the old religion has not been eliminated by ordinary administrative means, and it is only when a people has completely converted to the new religion that it will completely break with the old religion. That is to say, only religion can destroy religion.
The task of our Taoist Council is not to completely eliminate the old sects, but to completely isolate all the masters, temple masters, Taoist officials, and monks of the old sects by entering the believers, uniting the believers, and mobilizing the believers, completely breaking the old religious model and religious system, and establishing a new sect that obeys our traversal congregation......

Father Matteo Ricci has always insisted that this ancient land contains the vestiges of our Lord's salvation. Unfortunately, at a time when Fr. Zeng Dezhao participated in the excavation and translation of the sacred church inscription erected by the Emperor of the Tang Empire for our Lord Jesus a thousand years ago, Father Matteo Ricci had no time to share the miracles left by our Lord Jesus in this empire through the hands of his brothers.
However, I believe that the omnipotent God has already enlightened the ancient Chinese sages in his own way. It was only the Pythagoreans in India (the Jesuits once considered Indian Buddhism and Hinduism to be branches of Greek Pythagorean Esoteric Buddhism) to pollute the gospel of the Lord with their fallacies and heretical poisonous views.
As a result, the Confucian philosophers gradually lost the lofty ideals of their predecessors, and the damage to the enlightened philosophers of the other school was almost irreparable. As a result, these scholars, who were supposed to dwell in the blessed rose garden, degenerated into alchemists and idolaters like the Gnostics.
Referring to the current state of the old empire, the learned senators of Lingao generally considered the northern Tatars to be the greatest enemies of civilization and faith. They mention Attila, the king of the Huns, and the Tatar dynasty where Marco Polo, the Venetian, served, and their lament at the destruction of the ancient great imperial civilization by nomads.
As a descendant of a group of former dynastic nobles in exile, the "Yuan" dynasty is unforgivable, but in the eyes of me, a pagan clergyman. The most unforgivable sin of the Tatars was that they poisoned the two paths of salvation that originally belonged to the Chinese with the harmful ideas of the Pythagorean Hindu believers, so that the wise texts of Confucianism and Taoism, which were called and enlightened, eventually became the rigid code of today's philosopher-official "Mandarin" group and the Taoists who only knew about the heretical doctrine of alchemy and charms that were harmful to the soul.
But the salvation of our Lord Christ enabled their best leaders to lead the best of men to a new Jerusalem, like the prophet in the book of Exodus, when the barbaric pagans had almost destroyed the brightest and most glorious side of the nation. Here they have preserved the salvation of our Lord, as well as their most glorious morals, traditions, knowledge and dignity.
They also retained their own religion, which, however, was not poisoned by the harmful doctrines of India. There are countless plausible factors in it that suggest that it once contained the salvation path of the Lord Jesus, and that it was the fertile ground that best adapted to the growth and blossoming of the seed of Jesus Christ.

Thirty years after the publication of this monumental work, the famous "liturgical dispute" broke out between the empire and the Italian church, and the ignorant and conservative feudal leader Clement XI, the pseudo-pope XI, went against the tide of history and brazenly declared the "Chronicle of the Great Empire" a banned book and included it in the list of banned books in Europa. As a result, Europe gradually fell behind the tide of historical development.

Zhang Yingchen sent He Ying's letter before leaving
When He Ying received Zhang Yingchen's letter, the tall Mongolian doctor had already boarded a boat to the mining area.
Holding this thing that was not so much a private letter as a work book, He Ying had to admire the courage and action of this magic stick.
He sat down, unfolded the letter, and slowly read the parting message of the first priest of Lingao and the chairman of the Taoist Association.
“…… The result of the collision between heterogeneous civilizations is often the elimination of the advanced and the backward, and the destruction of the barbaric by the civilization. So in this era, the Jesuits easily wiped out the Mayan priests in South America, and three hundred years back, Islam and Tibetan Buddhism easily converted the two Mongols. However, collision inevitably brings about blending, and for religion, it is inevitable that it will be impregnated by the old traditions of new believers.
"Comrade Wu Mangshi seems to want to carry out a social experiment in Lingao, just as the Jesuits in Macau who built the Church of Our Lady of Goddess of Mercy are trying. This kind of thing was tried by the proams of Central and Southeast Asia, and by the Jesuits, Dominicans, and Franciscans of South America. However, without exception, it shamefully failed.
"With the herdsmen of Central Asia still trusting shamans, the Muslims of the Philippines still worshipping sacred trees, and the Mayan and Inca goddesses continuing to occupy the center of the South American church in the form of Our Lady of Guadalupe, it is to be expected that in the future work of the Religious Office, it will be a long and arduous task to resist the encroachment of the old culture.
"Therefore, the conversion, the conversion, the change of customs can only be a preliminary work, as Matteo Ricci said, 'it is only the cutting of some branches in the thorny wasteland'.
"Only by reshaping the old society and the soil in which the old culture survives can we truly achieve our goal.
"The ultimate goal of the reform of faith is to transform civilization, that is, to transform the agrarian civilization of the Middle Ages into modern industrial civilization, and I hope that I and my successors will always remember this, and not foolishly fall into some kind of dogmatic fetishistic self-isolation and regression.
"The medieval religious opium of the foolish religion was beneficial to us in the short term, but in the long run we had to move away from the Catholic style and turn the short-term investment into a long-term sustained investment.
"The Church should be responsible for teaching, and in addition to ideological education inculcated through religious forms, basic education is the most important thing in our work. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the boring "controversy over the translation of God's name", "the controversy between hell and heaven", and "the controversy between Taiyi Chaotic Taiji and the similarities and differences between reason and God" between monks and priests and Confucian scholars were nothing more than a set of European medieval philosophies and a set of Asian medieval philosophies competing for legitimacy and the right to speak.
"Our job is not to introduce a new set of opium to make it easier to rule, but to act as a catalyst for the transformation of the old society into a new society, and we are not to create a new set of old wine and replace the old gods with new gods, but to gradually eat away at the foundations of theocratic existence with the hands of the new gods. The secularization and simplification of religion was a manifestation of the progress of society in the seventeenth century, and we need to guide this new trend, not to add a new set of red tape on top of the old rituals, still less to turn natural fetishism into something as boring as mechanical fetishism.
"In my lifetime, I am afraid that I will have to reconcile with the beliefs of the old Shijie, and there may be various ** in the 17th century in the Lingao Seminary, and I am afraid that there will be a radical retro True Monarch Adventist or the Taoist version of the Golden Dawn Society in the Taoist Council. However, it is imperative to do a good job in education, and only a thoroughly secularized civilization can cut off the ghost of the Middle Ages from the roots.
At this moment, Mo Xuejiangzhou Sima, the green shirt is too ugly to look at, so let's follow the example of the sage of Wenchuan, shout 'pour a bowl of practice bar for me', and embark on the adventure that belongs to me and you.
Have a good day, old friend. ”
