While the woman wiped the blood off the wound with a medical sponge, the doctor wiped Gong Yu's injured right leg with an alcohol swab and injected her with a needle. But even though the doctor explained that it was a painkiller, Gong Yu groaned when he examined the inside of the wound with medical tweezers to see if there were any fragments inside.
"I'm not sure. It's just a quick cursory treatment, just to stop the bleeding. She will need radiological tests and intravenous fluids. If the femoral artery is injured, surgery may also be necessary. "The doctor gave Gong Yu another injection, and this time he explained that it was penicillin." But she needs to continue to get her injections on time after she leaves here. β
The woman wiped the wound with a brown disinfectant, and the doctor approached with glasses to examine the wound. There was another small lens on the lens of the glasses, and he turned it in front of his eyes. After disinfecting the area around the wound, the woman placed a finger where the doctor was holding it and left the doctor free to stitch up the wound.
"You shouldn't be here." The doctor complained to the bronze while working.
"I don't have any other choice." Bronze observed Gong Yu. Her face was wet, rained and sweaty, and had turned a gray like rice porridge.
"But you don't belong in the bureau now." The doctor said.
"I thought you hadn't heard about it."
"Obviously you don't know, otherwise, you wouldn't dare contact me."
"I'm serious, I don't have any other choice. And if you know that I don't have the bureau's approval, you won't necessarily agree to help me. Bronze held Gong Yu's hand. Her fingers gripped him tightly as if she were about to drown.
"I'm the one who has no choice on this issue." The doctor continued to stitch up the wound. "If I don't help you, you're going to create chaos in this building."
"I don't think your neighbors would approve of you doing part-time."
The woman who was the assistant looked up at him angrily. "You've soiled our home. You know where the clinic is, you could-"
"There's no time," said bronze, "and besides, you've treated me here." β
"That's an exception."
"I know of the other exceptions you've treated, for a decent amount of money. I guess that's another reason why you agreed to help. β
The doctor looked up from the wound he was stitching up, frowning. "What's on your head about the hefty cost of treatment?"
"In my travel bag. I have a gold chain, a gold bracelet, a jade ring, and a dozen gold coins. β
"No money?" The doctor's brow furrowed even more.
"These are worth about $12,000. Keep these in a sock in case you need them in case of a tough moment. Believe me, these things will come in handy if one day you have to get out of here as soon as possible and you can't go to the bank with confidence. β
"We haven't had that kind of trouble yet."
"So far you have been in no trouble," said Bronze, "I suggest that you do your best job with this lady." β
"Are you threatening me?"
"You must be misunderstood. I'm encouraging you. β
The doctor's brow furrowed even more, and then he engrossed in a few more stitches. "In that case, I charge 20,000 yuan for this treatment."
"What?"
"I guess the stuff you mentioned is just the out-of-pocket part." The doctor straightened up and stopped. "Is the cost an issue?"
Bronze stared at the half-sewn hole in Gong's face. "Nope."
"I don't think so." The doctor continued to work. "Where's that stuff?"
"Over there, in my travel bag." Bronze turned towards the place where he had placed his bag when he helped carry Gong Yu into the kitchen.
"What about the rest?"
"You'll get it."
"How can I be sure?"
"I promise you. And if that's not enoughβ"
Officer Blue interjected to break the tension. "Look, it's useless for me to stand here. I should be able to help with something. β
"Blood in the hallways and doorways," said the woman, "and neighbors will call the police if they see it." Go get them clean. β
Her commanding tone suggested that she thought she was addressing a servant, but although Officer Blue's dark eyes flashed a few times, he simply asked, "What tool do I use?" β
"There are buckets, rags and disinfectant under the pool. You have to wear rubber gloves. β
Officer Lan picked up his tools and went out, and the woman tied a blood pressure band to Gong Yu's left arm. She looked at the blood pressure monitor. The hissing of air in the blood pressure bands stopped.
"How much?" Bronze asked.
"100 for high pressure, 60 for low pressure."
Normal values are 120 and 80. "It's low, but it's not dangerous."
The woman nodded. "She's lucky."
"Yes, you can see how lucky she seems."
"You don't look that good yourself."
The phone rang, and the shrill ringing was so sudden that Bronze, the doctor, and the doctor's wife all tensed. Everyone stared at the phone. The phone hung on the wall, and the bell rang again.
"Who's going to call at this point?"
"I have an intensive care patient." The doctor continued to close the stitches. "I told the hospital to call me if the patient's condition deteriorated. When you came, I thought it was about a patient. He held up the blood-stained glove and gestured to her wife's gloved hand. But we can't answer the phone with this on. β
The bell rang again.
"I don't want you to stop what you're doing." Bronze picked up the microphone, "Hey? β
"As expected, bronze."
Hearing Ryan's smug voice, Bronze's breathing suddenly stopped. He gripped the microphone tightly, his knuckles turning white.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asked on the other end, "Don't you want to deal with people?" Don't want to talk? No problem, I'll continue this conversation for both of us. β
"Who is it?" The doctor asked.
Bronze held up his free hand and warned him not to make a sound.
"Looks like I'm not as stupid as you think I am, huh?" Ryan asked, "When I saw you putting the belt around the woman's lap, I said to myself, 'Where will he take her?' God forbid, I guessed it. I was standing guard on a porch in the street when you arrived. You must have forgotten, they told me about this place too. All of a sudden, you're not what I expected. You know what I think? β
Bronze did not answer.
"I've asked you a question," Ryan urged, "you'd better talk to me, or I'm going to make it worse than I planned." β
"Okay. What do you think? β
"I think you're losing your style."
"I'm tired of that." Bronze said, "Attention, our deal is still valid. Leave us alone. I won't think of you again. β
"Really?"
"I'm not going to follow you anymore."
"It seems to me, old friend, that you didn't understand what I meant. Now I'm following you. β
"You mean you and Renata."
"So you can guess who the man in the car is?"
"You weren't at that high level before. It's she who teaches you all the time. β
"Yes and what? Hey, she's trying to teach you something, bronzer too - I'm going to show you what it's like to lose someone you love. Look out the window. The front of the building. β
Click. The phone was disconnected.
Bronze slowly put down the phone.
"Who is it?" The doctor asked.
Look out the window? Bronze asks himself in horror, why? Let me expose myself? Let me make myself a target?
He suddenly remembered that Officer Lan was not in the room, and he couldn't help but feel creepy. Officer Blue went down the hallway to clear the blood. Did he start in the foyer? Is Ryan ......?
"Old Blue!" Bronze ran out of the kitchen. He slammed the front door open and rushed into the hallway, hoping to see Officer Blue, only to find that there was no one there. He rushed down the stairs.
"Old Blue!" Bronze stepped down the stairs one step at a time, his footsteps echoing through the stairwell. He ran to the third floor, then the second floor. "Old Blue!" He felt himself hear a faint voice answer. Bronze yells "Get out of the foyer!" Take cover! He jumped down six steps and landed on the landing of the stairs. He heard a heavy clang, like a bucket falling to the ground. "Ryan and the woman are outside! Come upstairs! He turned the last flight of stairs and ran to the middle platform, and when he turned again, he was startled to see Officer Blue staring up at him motionlessly.
Bronze jumped down the remaining steps and slammed into Officer Blue's chest, knocking him down into a recess in the foyer.
Immediately after, a bright light flashed, and a loud thunderous sound shook the foyer. A deafening wave of air swept through the street, shattering the glass door of the foyer. Bronze fell to the floor with Officer Blue. He felt shrapnel whizzing through the air, pieces of wood, metal and glass falling around him, and pieces of rubble crashing against the wall. Then, the foyer fell unnaturally silent, as if the air inside had been drained. Actually, it's just that Bronze himself feels breathless. He lay down next to Officer Blue in the recess, trying to move his chest in order to get air in. He did it slowly, through the pain.
He looked up through the smoke and saw shards of glass stuck into the wall. He ventured out again to the open door of the foyer, where they had stopped in a hurry. The car was the source of the explosion, and now it is a twisted, broken, burning wreckage.
"Oh my God." Officer Blue said.
"Quick. Upstairs. β
They struggled to their feet. As Bronze staggered down the stairs, he glanced to the side and saw a figureβa figure outlined by the firelight but blurred by the smokeβrunning past the door. The man threw something in. He heard the thing fall on the floor, and he and Officer Blue hurried up the stairs. The thing bounced on the ground a few times, making a "thump" sound. Bronze reached the platform in the middle, and with Officer Blue she turned the corner and continued to run up. Below, the thing slammed into something, what looked like metal hitting wood. It was a grenade that rolled into the ......
The blast wave of the explosion poured into the staircase, knocking Bronze and Blue officers to the ground. The limited space of the staircase enhances the power of the shock wave, not only up and down, but also horizontally. The stairwell shook, the façade cracked, and stucco splattered in all directions. The foyer was full of fire, and smoke was rising upwards.
Bronze and Blue officers struggled to their feet and climbed up. After they went up another floor, the staircase on this floor was blown open. Bronze rushed past the blasted staircase, and saw that there was flames and smoke inside. The door to an apartment slammed open, and he hurriedly turned away. An elderly man in his pajamas rushed out to see what was going on. He was stunned when he saw the flames and smoke.
"There was an explosion!" Bronze shouted, "The foyer is on fire!" Are there any other exits in the building? β
The man's lips moved several times before he spoke. "There's a back door in the back."
"Go from there!"
Bronze then climbed up, following Officer Blue, who didn't stop, up another level. The other residents of the building also rushed out, panicking when they saw the smoke coming up.
"Call the fire brigade!" Bronze shouted as he passed them, "The staircase has been blown up!" The stairwell is on fire! Take the Antie! β
He counted the wrong floors. I thought it was the third floor, but I was already on the fourth floor. The door to the doctor's apartment was open. He rushed into the kitchen and found Officer Blue arguing with the doctor.
"Can't touch her!" The doctor said firmly, "The stitches will be prescribed!" β
"To hell with the stitches! She's going to burn to death if she stays here! We're all going to be burned! β
"There's Anti!" Bronze said, "Where?" β
The doctor pointed down the hallway. "Through the window of that empty bedroom."
The bronze bent down and approached Gong Yu. "We'll have to carry you away. I'm afraid you're going to feel a lot of pain. β
"Is Ryan out there?"
"What he said in the inn was true. He and Renata are after me. Sooner than I expected. β
"Do what you have to do." Gong Yu licked her dry lips. "I can handle the pain."
"I'll open the window." Officer Blue said.
"Give us a hand." Bronze said to the doctor and his wife.
The phone rang again, startling him.
This time, he knew beyond a doubt who was calling. He grabbed the phone and shouted, "Enough of the joke!" Stop! β
"But we're just getting started," Ryan said, "to make it a little more interesting, shall we?" We've expected everything you've done so far. Who is the fool now? Ryan burst into laughter.
Bronze dropped the phone and turned towards Gong Yu, who noticed her lying on a thick plastic sheet. "Is the plastic sheeting strong enough to hold your weight?"
"There's a way to know." Officer Blue came back after opening the bedroom window. "You look up, I'll lift my feet."
They lifted Gong Yu off the table with plastic sheeting and carried him out of the kitchen.
The doctor ran into the hallway to look and rushed back, he was terrified. "There was fire in the stairwell and in the hallway."
