149 Confession
"You just want to celebrate like thisβdon't you want to go out?"
"Hey! It was my first night in Santa Fe as a property owner. I want to stay at home and appreciate what I've bought. β
"I'll bring red wine."
"And champagne," Gong added, "I think I should have cracked open the champagne at the front door, just like the boat did when the boat was cut and launched." β
"Here's a bottle of Yantai Changyu Riesling, there's only this here recently."
When Bronze arrived at about 6 o'clock, he was surprised to find a strange car parked in Gong Yu's driveway. He wondered, who was visiting at this time? He pulled over next to the unmarked car and got out of the car, only to notice a folder from a car rental company in the front passenger seat of the blue Chevrolet. Just as he walked along the gravel driveway towards the front door, the carved gate at the end of the lane opened, and Gong Yu appeared in the doorway, and beside him stood a man who had never seen him before.
The man was slender, dressed as a businessman, of medium height, and had a kind face. His hair is thinning and somewhat gray, and he looks to be in his early 50s. His blue suit is well-made, but not an expensive boutique. His white shirt made his face look paler, but it was by no means sickly. One only has to look at his clothing and lack of sun-lacked skin to know that he is certainly not a native of Santa Fe. Decker had lived here for a year and three months, but he had seen only a dozen people in suits, half of whom had come from outside to do business.
ββ¦β¦ Is the asking price too highβ" The man stopped halfway through his words. He turned towards the bronze and raised his thin eyebrows curiously. Bronze opened the front door and walked towards the gatehouse.
"Mr. Gu." Gong Yu shouted to him happily. "This is Dai Hongxing, who works in a gallery in Beiping, where my paintings are sold. Mr. Dai, this is the good friend I mentioned to you, Mr. Gu. β
Dai Hongxing smiled slightly. "I've heard Gong Yu say that without you, she wouldn't be able to survive here." He held out a hand and said, "Hello! β
"If Gong Yu kept praising me, I would definitely be overjoyed."
Dai Hongxing laughed, and Bronze shook his hand.
"Mr. Dai originally planned to come here yesterday, but there was a business in Chongqing, and he didn't get out of it." Gong Yu said, "I was so immersed in the joy of the house that I forgot to tell you that he was coming." β
"I've never been here before," Mr. Dai said, "but I realized I should have come a long time ago." The sunshine here is amazing. When I drove from Xining, the colors of the peaks changed many times. β
Gong Yu looked extremely excited. "Mr. Dai has good news, he has managed to sell three of my paintings."
"It's all the same buyer," Mr. Dai said, "and the customer showed great enthusiasm for Ms. Gong's work, and he wanted to be the first to see all of Ms. Gong's new work." β
"And he paid 5,000 yuan for the sneak peek," Gong Yu said excitedly, "not counting the 20,000 yuan he paid for those three paintings." β
β2β¦β¦ Ten thousand? Bronze grinned. It's unbelievable. With an impulse, he hugged her tightly.
Gong Yu's eyes sparkled. "First the house, and now this." She also hugged bronze. "There's so much to celebrate."
Dai Hongxing looked a little uncomfortable. "Okay," he cleared his throat. "It's time for me to go, Ms. Gong. I'll come back tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. β
"Okay, we went to the restaurant for breakfast. Do you remember what I told you about how to get around? β
"If I forgot, I'll ask the people at the hotel."
"Then I'll show you around those galleries," Gong said, "I hope you enjoy walking, there are more than 200 galleries." β
Bronze felt that he should take the initiative to keep him. "Would you please stay and have dinner with us?"
Dai Hongxing waved his hand humorously. "Thanks, no. I know when not to get in the way. β
"If you're sure."
"I'm sure."
"I'll get you in the car." Gong Yu said.
Bronze and so on under the gatehouse. Gong Yu accompanied Dai Hongxing along the driveway and had a brief conversation with him. Dai Hongxing got into the car, waved to them, and drove away.
Gong Yu jumped back and returned to the bronze with a smile on his face. She gestured to the paper bag in his hand. "Is this what I want?"
"Red wine and Riesling. Champagne has been iced all afternoon. β
"Open it right away, I can't wait."
The foam of the champagne made Gong Yu's nostrils itch, and she twitched her nose a few times. "Would you like to see something unexpected?"
"Is it another unexpected thing?" The sparkling champagne slowly flows to the base of the bronze tongue. "It was an extraordinary day."
"I want you to see it, but I'm a little nervous."
Bronze wasn't sure what she meant. "Nervous?"
"It's a big secret."
This time, Bronze really couldn't figure out what she meant. "Can you show me?"
Gong Yu seemed to have an idea, and nodded firmly. "I'd love to show you, come with me."
They left the beautiful tiled kitchen, walked past the colorful cotton rug that lay out in the living room, and walked down an open-air hallway in front of the house. The hallway led them past one door that led to the laundry room and to another. The door is closed. No matter when Bronze visited Gong Yu, she was always silent about the secrets inside this door.
Now, with some hesitation, she looked affectionately into her bronze eyes and let out a long breath. "Come on."
When she opened the door, bronze's first impression was the color. Red, green, blue, yellow, colorful, just like a dazzling rainbow erupting. What unfolded in front of him was a beautiful picture scroll that was ever-changing and colorful. His second impression is the organic combination of graphics, images and textures, as if they all share the same vitality.
Bronze was silent for a moment. These paintings impressed him too deeply, too deeply, and he was stunned.
Gong Yu scrutinized him more seriously. "What do you think?"
"'Think' isn't accurate enough, it should be how I feel, I'm conquered."
"Really?"
"They're so beautiful." Bronze took a few steps forward, looking around at the paintings that lay on their easels, hung on the walls, and hung overhead. "It's amazing."
"In this way, I feel much more relieved."
"But there's enough ...... here," Bronze counted quickly. β¦β¦ A dozen paintings too. They are described here. When are you-"
"Ever since I moved in, I've been painting every day except when I'm with you."
"But you didn't say a word about it."
"I was so nervous. What if you don't like them? What if you say they are similar to the work of such and such an artist here? β
"But they're not alike, absolutely not." The bronze slowly walked from one painting to another, experiencing and admiring.
One of them caught his special attention. The painting depicts a larch growing on a dry riverbed lined with red wildflowers. The painting looks simple and rustic, but Bronze always felt that there was something in the picture.
"What do you think of this one?" Gong Yu asked.
"For me, it's probably more pleasant to appreciate paintings than to talk about them."
"It's not that hard. What was the first thing you noticed? What do you feel most about? β
"Those red wildflowers."
"Yes," said Gong Yu, "from the moment I knew what they were called, I was interested in them." This flower is called a 'national paintbrush'. β
"You see, they really look like an artist's paintbrush," said bronze, "straight and slender, with a red mane at the top." He pondered for a moment. A painting depicting the flower of the brush. β
"You're on the point," Gong said, "and art critics call these kinds of paintings 'self-fingers,' or paintings that express painting." β
"That might explain another thing that caught my attention," said Bronze, "is your swirling brushstrokes and the way in which everything you have expressed is organically combined." What is this technique called? Impressionism? It reminds me of CΓ©zanne and Monet. β
"Not to mention Renoir, Degas, and especially Van Gogh." "Van Gogh was a genius at depicting the sun, so I dare say that if I used Van Gogh's technique to depict the unique scenery of the Northwest, it would enhance the self-referentiality of the picture." β
"'The land where the sun dances.'" β
"You're so smart. I tried to capture the vivid character of Santa Fe sunshine. But if you look closer, you'll also find symbols hidden in the landscape. β
ββ¦β¦ Oh, I'm so stupid. β
"The circles, the ripples, and the image of the sun as it breaks through the clouds, are used by the locals to symbolize nature."
"What is meant is what is referred." Bronze said.
"The whole thing is to make the viewer feel that even a seemingly ordinary dry riverbed with nothing more than a larch and some red wildflowers growing on it contains complex content."
"It's beautiful."
"I was very worried that you wouldn't like them."
"What did that art agent of yours say?" Bronze asked.
"You mean Dai Hongxing? He was sure that he said that the paintings would sell. β
"So, what does it matter what I think?"
"It matters, trust me."
Bronze turned to look at her. His heart began to beat faster, and he could barely control himself. "You're so beautiful."
Her eyes twinkled slightly, and she looked a little surprised. "What?"
His words blurted out. "I'm thinking about you all the time. I can't get you out of my mind. β
Gong Yu's face turned a little pale.
"I dare say it was the biggest mistake I've ever made." "You need a sense of ease, you need space and β you may not bother me from now on, but I have to say, I love you." β
Gong Yu stared at him as if it had been a long, long time.
Bronze thought, I've really messed things up this time. Why can't I keep my mouth shut?
Gong Yu's gaze was very focused.
"I think it's the wrong time for me to say it." Bronze said.
Gong Yu did not answer.
"Can we go back again?" Bronze asked, "Just act like nothing happened, okay?" β
"You can't go back."
"That's exactly what I'm worried about."
"And it's all happened."
"Yes, it's happened."
"You'll regret it." Gong Yu said.
"You want me to get out of here?"
"Oh my God, no. I want you to kiss me. β
When Bronze realized it, he couldn't help but shudder. He seemed to feel breathless, he had never experienced such a thrilling collision of hearts. Bronze began to tremble, and he couldn't control his body. He has risked his life countless times as a member of the Special Forces and as an intelligence agent, and has experienced the most terrifying fears. The emotion he was experiencing now had all the superficial symptoms of fear, but its essence was very different. It's crazy joy. His fingertips were numb, and his heart was pounding with the heaving of his chest.
Bronze opened his eyes and stared at the trusses and rafters on the flat-topped ceiling. The sunset casts crimson beams through the windows. Gong Yu lay quietly beside him. In fact, she hadn't said a word for a few minutes. But the silence was too long, and the bronze was a little out of breath. He feared that she was in the midst of painful reflections of remorse, feeling guilty for being unfaithful to her dead husband. She moved slowly, turned to face him, and stroked his cheek.
Seems to be all right, he thought.
Gong Yu sat up and glanced at the brick floor sitting beneath him. They were in the same room where she kept her paintings, surrounded by brilliant colors. "Passion is wonderful, but sometimes it takes a price." She chuckled softly. "Let's just say the bricks, I'm sure my back is bruised by them."
"I was rubbed off my knees and arms." Bronze said.
"Let me see. Ouch," said Gong Yu, "if we go any crazier, we'll have to see a doctor." β
Bronze laughed out loud, laughing uncontrollably. He laughed endlessly, laughing so hard that tears flowed from his eyes.
Gong Yu also smiled, this is joy from the heart. She leaned over to him, and she stroked his firm chin. "What you just said, in our - does it count?"
"Count completely, thoroughly. No words seem to be enough to express my feelings, I love you. "I love you so much that it's as if I had never really lived until then, as if I had never really lived." β
"Didn't you say you're not only an art critic, you're also a poet?"
"There's so much more you don't know." Bronze said.
"I want to know everything right now." Gong Yu kissed him again, then stood up.
Decker admired her, his throat a little tight. Both in shape and in terms of its flexibility, it resembles an athlete, which reminds the bronze of the image created by the sculptor.
"What's up with that thing on the left side of your body?" Gong Yu asked.
"My left side?"
"I mean the scar."
