Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Events of the Year

Three days later we followed a tour group to Seattle. Once we arrived, we got to work. Sure enough, there was someone here to pick us up. As soon as we entered the hotel, the responder came to the door. He brought us guns, communications equipment, binoculars, the target's home address and a car.

After we carried the pistol, we quickly found the target's home by following the address. We didn't get too close, but stopped at the intersection and looked in the direction of the target's house. Younis glanced at his watch and said, "It's three o'clock in the afternoon." The woman should stay at home and maybe pick up the kids from school later. As he spoke, a woman walked out of the target's house.

Younis held up the binoculars and looked, "Hehe. It's him, fatter than before. ”

The subject opened the door and got into the car, and drove away moments later. Paul asked Younis if he wanted to follow, and Younis shook his head and said, "No. There is no need for that, this is her home and will definitely be back. Let's take a look around first and see if there's anyone waiting for us. It's almost unlikely, but it's better to be careful. ”

We nodded and got out of the car and started to walk around, starting to check the situation around us. The environment is nice, the streets are clean and there are not many people. Although there are sometimes police cars passing by on the road, they are patrolling. The people's faces can tell that life here, at least the people who live around here, are comfortable and secure.

About half an hour later, we were back in the car. There was nothing unusual around, and Younis nodded and didn't say anything. And just then, the car that had left before drove back. It quickly stopped in its original position.

Then he got out of the car and unscrewed a lot of things from the back seat. It seems to be going shopping. Younis smiled, "Kids. It's time for me, old fellow. With that, he got out of the car, looked at me and said, "My most proud student, you go with me." ”

Younis straightened his clothes, straightened his hat, and walked with me towards my target. As I reached the middle of the road, Younis motioned for me to stand in front of my target's house. I nodded, and walked across the street with him a quick step.

When I arrived at the location, I looked at the target who came out of the house again, and I guess that the days of peace had passed, and she seemed to be completely unvigilant, still busy with her own business. With a smile on his face, Younis walked over to her and said, "Excuse me, ma'am, do you know a lady from Brakova?" ”

The subject didn't react much at first when he heard Eunice speak fluent English, but stopped moving things when he heard his name.

"Ma'am? What's wrong? Is there anything wrong with my words? Younis deliberately teased her.

Brakova slowly straightened up and turned to look at Younis. I noticed that when he turned around, his eyes were already looking around, which was to observe his surroundings. It seems that this retired spy still retains some qualities.

"Don't look at it, my dear comrade." Younis directly changed his words and said in Russian, "Life is really good." As he spoke, Younis pointed to the house and the car.

The target was stunned for a moment and then looked at Younis with a blank face and said in English, "Excuse me, what did you just say?" I don't understand. ”

"Huh? Hahaha. Younis laughed out loud when he received such an answer, and then sat down on the curb with a smile. God, who do you think you can handle with such an answer? Did you deal with the Yankees like that? Or do you think I'm so easy to handle? Younis said as he stood up, his expression suddenly darkening, "Listen, Brakova. If you don't want your family to be affected by you, just get out of here with me. Your good life is over. After saying this, Younis returned to a smiling expression, "Ten seconds to think about time." ”

Brakva's expression quickly changed from dazed to frightened after Younis's threat. She subconsciously straightened her hair, and turned to speak in Russian: "I thought you were dead." ”

"Ahh Russian. Younis smiled and said, "Hearing Russian makes me feel very familiar. So, Comrade Brakova, what you just said can be understood as saying that you have recognized who I am? ”

/

Brakva nodded and did not speak. Younis gestured to the car we were driving, "Then you don't need to introduce yourself. Follow us. I still have a lot to talk about with you, an old acquaintance I haven't seen in years. ”

Brackeva stood still and did not move, but looked back at her home. His eyes were full of reluctance and goodbye. It seems that she already knows that she is finished. Then he looked at Younis, who said as he walked, "Don't try to do anything uncooperative. If that's the case, I'll settle the account on your current family. Younis said and opened the car door, "I won't kill them, but there will be a few more strangers in that part of Siberia." ”

The old guy's trick is really ruthless, and being exiled to a bitter cold place to make people suffer is actually more terrifying than directly giving people a painful pleasure. And this Brakova obviously understood this better than I did, so she didn't put up any resistance, closed the door and calmly got into our car.

Then we came to the pre-arranged address, which was an empty house in the suburbs. We got out of the car and took Brakova inside.

Younis twisted a chair and motioned for Brakova to sit on it. Younis then asked Berezov to take a camera and a bottle of wine from the car, and after complaining that there wasn't even a glass in the damn place, Eunice took a few sips directly into the bottle, and then looked at Brackeva and turned on the video camera and pointed it at her.

"When I'm older, I can't help but want to take two sips. Even in places like Iraq, where alcohol is forbidden, a little is still drunk from time to time. Younis took two more sips before twisting a chair and sitting across from Brakova, "Are you still in touch?" ”

You don't know who you're referring to in Eunice's question, but Brackeva clearly knows who the old guy is talking about. She shook her head with a wry smile and said, "It's been years since I got in touch. Because there is no need to contact again. ”

"Was your group all apostatous at that time? I mean, are you unknowingly starting to act against my group, or are you just cooperating with the Americans against us? Younis asked.

"What do you think?" Brakova looked at Younis and asked.

"I think? I don't think you've been rebelling against us for a while, but for a while. But I need to confirm. ”

Brakva laughed and said, "You're right. Not long after you were here, we had already defected to the Americans. ”

"Good." Younis took a sip of wine, "So it was you guys who first rebelled and then rebelled?" ”

After thinking about this question for a moment, Brakva said, "Yes, but there is not. ”

Younis frowned and said, "What does this mean?" ”

Brakva said with a look on her face that Younis was knowingly asking: "Don't you know what the last few years have become?" The order changes day by day, today it will be like this, and tomorrow it will be like that. Plans and actions that have been prepared for a long time, abandoned a few days before they start, and then restarted soon after, and then revised. There are many losses of people on the periphery, you don't know this? ”

I looked at Younis, who was expressionless and did not speak, and it was clear from this that the old fellow had no objection to what Brakova had said.

"Our situation is becoming more and more dangerous. Slowly, from distrust of superiors to mutual distrust. Everybody's worried that maybe overnight we'll be all done. However, bad things always follow in bad luck. It wasn't long before we found out that some of us were starting to be stalked. Then.. ”

"What's next? You all defected to the Yankees at the same time? You guys are so tacit? Younis asked.

"It's not." Brakva immediately denied: "Of course not. The situation was critical. After Kudrya reported the situation upwards, he received a reply that he continued to lurk. We were all disappointed, and then Kudrya made an appointment with us. At that meeting, Kudrya suggested that we should either dissolve and run away for our own future, or join the Americans. ”

"You mean a hint? Didn't say it explicitly? Younis asked.

Brakva nodded, "It's a hint." It was true that he did not say it explicitly, and what he said at the time was that he could not go on like this. We have to think of ways to save ourselves. ”

"And then you readily agreed?"

"Refreshed? It's not refreshing. Brakova smiled bitterly, "But there wasn't much contradiction in my heart at that time." And, it seems to me, Vyshlyak is already on the side of Kudrya, and if Andrei and I do not have a clear answer, then we may well be killed. ”

"What? What did you find? Younis asked.

"Vishlyak is Kudrya's confidant. As I said, we had a mistrust before, and I noticed that Kudrya and Vishlyak were in contact a lot during that time, as if they were planning some kind of action. But none of that was mentioned to me. And, most crucially, that's right. Before this encounter, I had passed information to Vishlyak, and he seemed to be irritated and muttered something like 'these days are almost over'. So I think Vishlyak had known Kudrya's intentions earlier and must have stood together. Brakova said.

Younis nodded at what she said, and looked up at her after a moment of thought, "And after that?" ”
