XIII. Assemblies
The new semester continues to pass in an uneventful manner.
Alan Kelly studied history with Professor Klein and, because of his professorship, came into contact with many prominent figures in intellectual and cultural circles.
He would go to Professor Klein's house twice a week, sometimes bringing an obscure ancient book with him to help answer his questions. On these occasions, they just talk about learning. But at certain gatherings, Allen listens with relish when he hears the celebrities make long commentaries on current affairs.
At heart, he prefers politics and philosophy.
In this regard, Alan sometimes had a certain uneasiness in his heart, and his thoughts gradually changed subtly, and he vaguely felt that it was related to the problem of that "new thought". In the past, he always had a feeling of not being able to find his way in the haze, and he felt spiritually empty, but after coming into contact with these "liberal" people, all these feelings disappeared.
As he came into contact with this new consciousness, a clearer and newer ideal had given him a particularly fulfilling sense of his present life, which seemed to embody the idea of fraternity and equality, brotherhood in all corners of the world.
He stubbornly believed that the Church of the Lord God had the tendency of the people at its origin.
It is a pity that in the political concept of the Tang Empire, "unity, prosperity, hard work, struggle and equality, and law-abiding" are the themes, that is, there is no word for democracy and freedom, in the eyes of most Tang people, these two words seem to be combined with laziness and casualness.
Perhaps because of the difference in consciousness, the Tang Dynasty and even the Easterners have the concept of collectivity and obedience in their bones, while the Westerners and Indians are more self-centered.
Recently, Alan has been reading Dante's Treatise on Imperialism under the guidance of his professor, and he is convinced of some of its ideas.
Professor Klein lives in a dark red, two-story villa not far from Sindeng State University, which sits on the edge of a mountain with a view of the vast swampy wetlands of the Sintenju Peninsula. The port city on the southern tip of the Sindenju Peninsula has just been hit by a hurricane, and its streets are littered with broken tree branches.
"You're here!" Professor Klein had a large head and a messy head of gray hair. He was not tall and had narrow shoulders, which did not match his big head. Alan often had the illusion that the apparently disproportionate head would fall off the professor's dry and shriveled neck at some point.
Professor Klein sat in a chair with a light green bushing and did not get up. He closed the book in front of him, "Well, sit down, Alan, how is your father?" ”
"I didn't see him, he went to Los Angeles in the west......" Allen sat down in a chair across from the professor, "and the economy is not good right now, and he went there to find a market for the factory's products." ”
"Oh, what a diligent businessman." Professor Klein sighed, "Human beings are always thinking about how to expand their living space, which comes from animal instinct. Expanding one's own territory and squeezing others' territory is the beginning of the struggle. The professor turned around and took out half a bottle of red wine from the back bookcase, took two more goblets, then pulled out the cork vigorously, and carefully poured half a glass into each glass, "Drink some, Alan, but it's a good day to celebrate." ”
Alan raised his glass a little confused: "For what?" ”
Professor Klein shook his head, "Mr. Theodore Hertz and the Amhara royal family have held talks, and both sides have agreed to make Jeruch the common capital of all Utah people in the world. ”
"They're using the Utahs, you know, and now there are more than 3.5 million persecuted Utahs living on Polish and Ukrainian soil." "Abysiah is at war with Egypt and the Hejaz kingdoms, which are professing the Sect of God, and the old ruling class is only defending their own interests and the old autocracy. The children of the poor shed their blood and died on the battlefield just to get the medals and glory of those generals. His study of the origins and circumstances of the war in Africa suddenly made him disgusted with the battlefield, which had already led to the death of 200,000 young people and the permanent disability of about 200,000 others.
Without the support of the Tang Empire, the East African Empire established by the Abysians would not be a match for these Fangtianjiao countries that were supported by Europe.
Along with his professor, Allen has recently been in contact with a number of journalists, writers, and artists, and his thinking has been greatly influenced by them.
"The old system was because it caused wars, and the new monopoly capitalists in Europe needed more colonies, that is, larger supplies of raw materials and markets for the sale of industrial products. The competition for raw materials and markets is the essence of this war, and the old system is to protect the interests of these ruling groups. The aristocrats of the past have been transformed into a new wealth monopoly group, and the nobles of the Tang Empire still control the world's main source of wealth, and some new big capitalists have joined in. Wars have always been caused by conflicts of interest, and for historical reasons, Europeans have lost the opportunity to control the world's resources. Professor Klein took a sip of red wine, "It's hard to change, and those who try to change it will end up in vain." Can you understand what I'm talking about, Alan? ”
Alan nodded somewhat reluctantly, and the professor didn't seem to agree with his current thoughts.
Still, coming out of Professor Klein's house, he went to a small assembly of students.
To his surprise, he actually met Caterina again at the rally. She was sitting quietly in the corner of her room by the window, listening intently to a speech by an event promoter.
It was a small, bespectacled Oriental man wearing a shabby coat.
Allen was a little puzzled that this young man, who obviously seemed to be from the Tang Dynasty, was actually talking loudly and endlessly advocating the idea of breaking away from the rule of the Tang Empire and realizing the ideal of democratic autonomy.
Shouldn't that be the ideal of those of Latino and Indian descent?!
He was a little worried about the future fate of this young man from the Tang Kingdom.
Caterina was fascinated by what she heard, her body was developing rapidly, and she now looked like a mature young woman, still dressed as a schoolgirl despite her two thick black braids still hanging down her back.
“…… Those evil nobles and lords only regarded the Americas as their source of raw materials and wealth, and never cared about the suffering of the people of the Americas. There has never been a savior in this world, and freedom and independence can only be achieved by us uniting and fighting for our own ......" The initiator was full of enthusiasm and was complaining about the current suffering, obviously he was a very unsatisfactory, very socially hateful, ambitious guy.
It's just that his speech is very incendiary......
